- Hurricane John was the longest lived tropical cyclone on record, persisting for an entire month in the Pacific ocean. John reached Category 5 status southeast of the Hawaiian islands, and reached a secondary peak intensity close to the International Date Line.
Despite its extensive track, damages were very limited on Johnston Atoll, the Hawaiian islands, and eventually Alaska.

I'd call John a "Hurriphoon" because it crossed the International Date Line, the boundary between hurricanes and typhoons.
they just refer it to as a hurricane and typhoon

To correct several below, Freddy just surpassed John and is now the longest lived cyclone at 32 days. It only happened a few hours ago, not yesterday or a few days ago like claimed.

John lasted long since it didn't make any landfalls, if it did it would get absolutely obliterated.

John walked so Freddy could run right into Madagascar and Mozambique, get kicked out, and come running back. Freddy is more impressive for surviving 2 landfalls, but let's not forget John

Firstly, that's the Atlantic record. Second, the Atlantic hurricane lastly about one day shorter.
