Hes 100% in on the joke. Hes too well spoken and livid to be as dumb as the movies would indicate. He doesnt seem oblivious like tommy wiseau. He just makes horrific movies starring himself for a living. That doesnt make it any less genius IMO.

@@VitoVitali He's a dam good actor then because there are times when his incredulity and confusion at an audience reaction feels pretty genuine. I don't think he is on it. Well spoken people aren't immune to delusional thinking.

The most disturbing thing surrounding this Neil's phenomenon is not Neil himself . It's the amount of hysterical people screaming from the deep of their lungs 🫁 with the perspective of seing him. Just watching one of his films largely explains he can't find financial investors to make movies.

And right after in the video he spends 99% talking about how great he is. He lacks all self-awareness and that's his doom and our blessing.

    • @rubenmendezhoms3488

@ROG I hope he's not. Because if he is then his movies loose much of their appeal. When I see a Neil Breen movie I want to enter a strange world of madness and dellusion, not just some intentionally bad movies for the bucks as a brand. Nah, I remain, at least, in doubt.

The key is you've got to be smart enough, experienced enough, and knowledge enou- knowledged... enough, by educating yourself to stay away from them.

  • @AnxietyAddict
    @AnxietyAddict 4 ปีที่แล้ว +176

Neil Breen is easily better than Tommy Wiseau. He’s made 5 full-length feature films that have all been self-funded and they’ve made a profit.
There’s the absolutely nonsensical plots that can twist and turn at any given moment and leave you wondering if the popcorn is laced with acid. He makes like six movies in one.
Then there is the same stilted, monotone, hesitant delivery of lines that is common in every single character in every single Breen film.
There’s the mid scene direction of actors, the overdubbed dialogue. You have the absolutely unnecessary nudity. The facial hair held in place by tape (I’ve never had a beard!), the out of sync punching sounds, the breathing tube OVER the face mask, the ball sack!. The one way phone conversations. The endless desert shots, the Breen screen, the stock footage of the kids, animals and buildings. The expert hacker who’s 6 laptops aren’t even switched on. Eating tuna out of a can whilst driving. The flying Breen. The fake rats next to the homeless dude. Cradling Jim, unwittingly incriminating himself by getting his blood all over him then the “I can’t believe you committed suicide” line delivered in the vain of a disappointed mother who has just learnt that her son flunked math class. The closet ghost therapist. The coffee mug collapsing scene.
The street crossing where several people turn into one. The moving skull, the baby heads, the moving cats, the fact that two actors played the same character and only one of them was credited and his voice was utterly ridiculous. He does catering! He does EVERYTHING.
“I’ll be right here” (that line is from ET!). “It’s a magical day”, “I can’t believe you committed suicide”, “I resign today as president of the bank”. “I’ve eliminated 300,000 people, in human terms, I killed them all”. “All this corruption that I know is going on”, “Isn’t that corrupt”, “no more books”, eating the plate of veg. “I’m so pissy”, “I have no value for you, on the streets”, “cancer chemo is kicking my ass”, “you are now cured of PTSD”, “I wanna’ be honest with all of you. I’ve been hacking into Government and corporate systems all over the country (applause), all over the world. I just think Neil doesn’t want to be categorised or typecast, he likes having a certain level of control over his movies. It may be part of the reason why his films don’t stick to one theme and why he stays independent. I am sure people would throw money at him to be able to make a film with him or to be in one but he doesn’t want to give so much control over in terms of direction, casting, scripts etc which would inevitably happen if the bigger production companies got involved.
Even in his films his characters are quite physically controlling. He grabs people a lot. Talking about corruption as well. It’s a joke in the movies that he always talks about corruption but he genuinely might be fearful of handing his movies over to someone who will turn it into something that he never wanted. They could also screw him out of a lot of money. This is why he’s so proud to have produced 5 self funded feature films that have all made a profit.
He puts a lot of twists in his movies but he seems to think that plot twists are where you think of the most illogical thing that can happen at any given point and you just to that. E.g where the guy follows the seemingly random woman home, attacks her, she hits him with a photo frame and then he says “what’s for dinner?” as though they’re related.

The reason my films aren't made by Hollywood is I don't live near Hollywood. And they won't return my calls. It's really that simple.

It’s easy to shit on this guy and his films but at the end of the day, he’s living his dream and working his passion. Gotta respect that.

"Don't do the same old thing."
Literally represents an evil twin by putting facial hair on them - a top 10 film cliche.

People always say: Listen to negative feedback, that's the stuff that makes you better. But if you want to be a true genius of modern cinema like Neil, you absolutely have to ignore it all and do your own thing. Imagine if he got what people said and went on to fixing the issues instead of choosing to only look at the glass half full, his movies would be unwatchable and he would make 0 money. But hold on before you also venture down that path. Even if you reach the incredible heights of Neil, he's the one person on the planet that doesn't get to enjoy his movies.
