It's nice to find folks who LOVE The Weeknd's old mixtapes material but can still appreciate how he doesn't linger in that same style of music anymore. Whether some fans like it or not its called "growth."

I started listening to The Weeknd heavily earlier this year and listened to all his projects and this man does not have anything close to a subpar project. I definitely agree that it’s a day by day thing on what I want to listen to. That’s when you know an artist is top tier. HOB is probably my fave project with AH right behind it
High for This, Wicked Games and What You Need were the three big (relatively speaking) tracks that made him a semi-legend before people even saw his face. They were generating the most TH-cam views. Then his work with Drake on Crew Love, following the other two mixtapes, started to catapult him in the direction of stardom. But interesting enough he is a rare superstar in which his music may be more known than him. It's crazy all the people who are just realizing he is the singer of some of his huge commercial hits from the MBTM and Starboy albums. I see this in TH-cam comments all the time.
Also to be fair Twenty Eight was not originally on HoB. That was a song he added years later when doing the remastering of all three mixtapes for Trilogy.
Oh fr? To be honest. While doing the review “house of Ballons/ glass table girls” was the Original mix and I thought it sounded much more clouded in comparison to what I listen to on streaming but I honestly had no idea about “Twenty Eight” not being an original song just because I was so young when it released and the music just didn’t relate to me and didn’t resonate at the time.

👀👀I think Abel is a R&B artist who can make pop music. How about that. And I think Brent Faiyaz or Frank Ocean sing better.
