      At Chambers Bridge Rd and Ovation Way there are 'NO TURN ON RED" signs, People only think it's just a suggestion and they can do what every they want, even turn right on red.
      There is the NO LEFT TURN SIGN in front of McDonald's but I see drivers still make that left to go into McDonald's.
      I see people walk on the red light because the light is too long. Some cross at the left arrow while cars are trying to make a left turn.
      (Who's at fault when a driver really has the right away if the pedestrian does not follow the rules (jaywalks)?)
      I see drivers come out of the post office onto Ovation Way and it's enter only.
      Not all but most of these drivers are driving very expensive cars. That I think gives them a big head. They can break the rules and the rules do not apply to the wealthy here in NJ. One person was making an illegal right on red and they gave me the NJ salute. (person was driving a very expensive car)

      @@crazyknarf Years ago, on a dark, stormy night, one of my friends accidentally hit and killed a jaywalker who had darted out from between two parked cars. He was found not at fault.
      And you’re right, it seems the wealthier, the more entitled. Both heading out and going home last night I had fancy cars tailgating me. I don’t brake-check; rather, I simply take my foot off the accelerator and sloooooooow down haha.

    I still think this is weird. In the United States, you build massive streets with lots of lanes and then expect drivers to spot pedestrians far away. In Switzerland, our streets have much fewer lanes. AND we build little ''pedestrian islands'' in the middle of the road, where pedestrians are protected from traffic by posts and the raised walkway. Each part of the pedestrian crossing is treated as an individual crossing, so drivers on one side of the street are allowed to continue driving when the person has reached the island to cross the other side of the street. Maybe something you should consider introducing too! Best regards from Switzerland!

    • @ThomieTV
      @ThomieTV 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @A K Thank you, I'm aware of that. Maybe you misunderstood me. I don't think it's weird that you build massive streets. I think it's weird and dangerous that there are unprotected crosswalks for pedestrians who want to cross these massive streets.

      This usually wouldn’t work because most of our roads don’t have any kind of raised medium in the center. As much as I think U.S. road infrastructure lacks in a lot of areas compared to other nations, crosswalks are definitely not one of them. Every single crosswalk is clearly marked ahead of time, based on the speed limit and visibility, and drivers all have plenty of time to see the pedestrian and stop. The real problem is the poor driver education, which is basically a 30 day high school class where people go vape in the bathroom and cheat on the easiest tests on the planet, then go pickup a drivers license and hit the road. I can assure you it’s never “Oh I didn’t see that person”, and if it is the driver was usually distracted on their phone or something

      Pedestrian islands like the ones you refer to are becoming more common in the USA, I’ve also seen a few newer roads that have crosswalks that are raised up and you have to slow down to cross. We are getting better, but are definitely still lacking in terms of pedestrian infrastructure

    I really don’t see the safety gain that law is trying to give. If you wait for them and then cross behind them, I don’t see why that’s dangerous for them if you don’t get within 10 feet of them. They aren’t suddenly going to glitch out and appear 20 feet behind. If they were a reasonable distance forward (at least a lane) when you started the turn, they only get further as they continue to walk. If that law applied somewhere with lots of pedestrians, it would not ever be possible to turn. That law doesn’t make any sense for roads two lanes or wider in each direction.

    I think it's stupid the way it's enforced because I don't see anything unsafe about going thru an intersection if the guy is on the other side of the street.
    There's no danger to the pedestrian
    Now if he was coming my way I definitely would have stopped and waited for him.no if, ands,or buts.
