  • Finding Beautiful North Carolina Gold Using the Gold Trek ultra light backpack Highbanker by Crux Prospecting. The spot Justin (x4Prospecting) and I have Gold Dredging running low on Gold, so Stephen P. and myself are testing some ground down stream from our current dredging location. what better time to test this highbanker. I was really impressed with the Gold Trek but not thrilled will the gold totals. The search continues...

    Really great video Will! Your idea to test the capture rate with the BBs was a really clever. It looks like you've been able to spend some solid time with the system because you've got it dialed in really well. Very nice work and thank you so much for the feature!

    Nice little set up. The matts with open sides is an easy fix. Slice up a used inner tube and rubber cement a flap on it. We don't use open sides, but I like it.

      I get exactly what you’re say but the mats fit pretty snug

    Lightweight and it works, too! I like the integrated top water distribution system too. Those mats sure does capture the fine gold. Great video.

    Man, I love cool shit like this. I mean, years ago this would have been unheard of. Nobody was using plastics, composites, or 3-D printer materials, it was steel and nothing else. So, then it comes down to a balance of light weight and still sturdy enough to use. Like I had said in your last showcase, it's perfect for that quick trip, or prospecting a spot you're sure has gold and you want to run some material, sure beats panning and river sluicing on those occasions. Offers a great test. And it's pretty cool looking to boot.

    This highbanker is clearly marketed as a backpack unit and is sold in kits with bilge pump and 12v batteries. I'm not sure why this was filmed and tested out with a huge gas powered unit instead of a bilge. If you are parked so close to the creek that you can carry that monster sized pump then you can carry a much larger highbanker as well.
    I wouldn't mind seeing this ran as intended, with 12v power as this is the only way I'd consider running one of these. The most important factor in my mind is what is the lowest gph bilge that will effectively run this unit as the lower gph equals less amp draw allowing you to run your unit either longer on the same battery or allowing you to carry a smaller and thus lighter unit into the field.
    Running this with a trash pump is pretty unrealistic to me, I'd simply run a larger more productive banker.
    On a side note, I would be so much more inclined towards purchase if companies like this would give you the option to purchase the unit without mats. As an enthusiast, I want to chose and purchase 3rd party mats without having to pay for something I absolutely don't want. I feel like many hobbyists would agree with this and they'd end up moving more units. It would literally be one of the biggest positives mentioned in user reviews.
    Thanks for the video.

      I would guess about half my customers use bilge and half use gas pumps(including me). There's regulatory issues in some places such as BC which make bilge pumps effectively illegal or at least very difficult to use legally due to the limit of hose length.
      I also understand that people tend to have their own mat preference but, I will say that nobody that's tried my mats has switched back to what they were using before. My system should be compatible with other brands of mat but it's really difficult for me to guarantee effectiveness or support those types of customers so I prefer to avoid it.
      Hope this all makes sense, thank you for the feedback!

      What is the lowest gph bilge pump someone "can use? What size comes with the unit? I had no idea you can use a gas powered pump and not electric it BC but I am intrigued and thinking about buying your sluice box, great video thank you guys

    • @cruxprospecting
      @cruxprospecting 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@rayon3383 With absolute optimal setup you can get away with a 1500gph bilge pump but I generally recommend 2000 because you get a little more leeway at minimal battery cost. Gas pumps are a little different and pretty much any 1 inch "trash pump" will provide plenty of water. There's a lot of brands out there but the Honda wx10 is probably the best when it comes to weight and reliability but they are expensive

    11:20 ...but how could you know? The ratio could be terrible. You have no way of knowing. Could be a billion atomic particles it didn't catch that a cyanide leech would have caught.

    • @InternalCompassofNC
      @InternalCompassofNC  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This was to demonstrate the capture rate of visible gold. You obvious can’t catch every micro particulate.Your average gold prospector will never dive into leaching or amalgamating material. Good comment though. Thank you Jake. Happy New Year!
