Its a truly powerful episode that shows the raw emotions of both characters even making me cry . The episode ends with a climatic nick soak in rain after sharing his first kiss with Charlie.

very clever I almost didn't even notice
When they're running up the stairs together and down the halls, each floor and section of the hallway is a different color of the bi flag. There are also yellow side lights, so some interpret the lighting as the pan flag too.
It bothered me at first 'cause it felt very overlay...but then I remembered the comic/hand drawn aspect of the aesthetic and I loved it again.
But it's timed so well to a song that's always been on my "kiss for the explosion" playlist. XD
I didnt notice the bi-flag untill I saw a comment like this one in another video. They totally do put him infront of a lot of bi-flag colored backgrounds and under bi-flag lights. It would be a great foreshadowing, if I wasnt that blind myself...

As a parent of a trans daughter and a lesbian daughter. (Twins) I felt this scene IMMENSELY!!. We can’t always be there to protect our kids in certain situations. Although we wish we could be by their sides always. But we can be there for them to offer hugs and console them. 💜💜

That scene with Tara and Darcy kissing on the dance floor has to be one of the most beautiful scenes I’ve ever seen. The colors, the music, the way Nick is beaming. It literally makes me cry just thinking about it. So beautiful.

My answer would be shorter if you asked, "Which episode did NOT make you cry?" This show is so beautifully filmed with such amazing performances by the cast! Of course, we have to give a tip of the hat to Alice Oseman who created it all!
Don't ever feel sorry for being so emotional; you're such a softie and your reaction was beautiful! I can't decide who I love more - Charlie or Nick - for different reasons, but they are both so real and so innocent and their connection is so pure. Love everything about this story and these characters.
I think this one is my favourite episode. I just love it, from the beginning with the single tear in Nick's eye to the end in the Rain 🧡
I think its great start to finish definitely a 10/10
For me, that scene with Harry after the kiss had me scared for Nick, and I kept thinking "get out, get out, now!"
Harry had called him into an isolated room with his friends standing staggered round him essentially surrounded
Previously, Nick had told him off in a large crowd of people, but in that moment he was all alone & out numbered. This might be my brain going to worst case scenario (or having flashbacks), but I really thought there might be a point where they might gang up on him for daring to insult the birthday boy at his party
I totally accept him simply agreeing and getting the hell out of there

Totally. The way the scene was shot, all dark and ominous... all the guys right behind Harry. Plus, Nick probably wanted to deal with that as soon as possible to be able to go back to Charlie.
Yeah he just wanted to settle the conflict ASAP.
I interpretted the scene (beginning with Nick's leaving Charlie while he goes to face Harry) -- as Nick being protective.
Protective of what he and Charlie had just experienced and protective of Charlie.
He quickly agreed to the idea that he was just in a bad mood and to saying that he and Harry were 'good' -- I believe because he just wanted to get away ASAP and get back to Charlie, who was sitting all alone ( Nick thought).
He used an excuse that many people use to extricate themselves from a negative situation -- the need to go to the loo.
This show is amazing. I’ve watched it multiple times. Your play by play and feelings about each scene are spot on. don’t ever be sorry for crying! Charlie and Nick’s kiss was the best.

I've posted this on other reactions too but have to point out regarding Nick's answers to Charlie...he has no idea who or what he may be, but he does know that when it comes to Charlie he has no real doubt he wants him. And it's so beautiful...and yes when Tara and Darcy kiss in the light of the rainbow I cried so much especially when you see Nick being so happy seeing it while being bathed in bisexual lighting...such an emotional scene
Don't ever apologise for crying! I cried at pretty much every episode and every reaction I've seen; I wish I had this kind of show when I was figuring things out in my teens but I'm glad I've found this show!
I wish I had someone like me when I was younger , the cool thing is I get to be that for nick in the show so it's almost full circle I get to be for so many other what I didn't have when I was coming out

I am now going to have to watch this show for the 3rd time. It's such a wonderful story that addresses very serious issues that LGBTQ teens face. The magical thing about this show is that it still manages to find the innocence and earnestness of budding first loves. I think it's rare to see a full picture when stories about minority groups are told. Having cast and crew members who have their lived experience that they can bring to the table as well as Alice's unique perspective is what makes Heartstopper truly special. I am here for it! I am already so looking forward to the next two seasons!

To focus on the acting for a second, the look on Nick's face right after the first kiss told us everything going through his mind in that moment. Kit NAILED it.

Favorite Character is Nick. He's just so sweet and kind 💕 I'm looking forward to the Paris Trip in Season 2...but not emotionally ready for the plot 🥺

My favorite character is Nick. My favorite scene is right at the beginning when Nick is doing research trying to figure himself out because I really relate to the way that happened for him, having gone through it myself and coming to the same conclusion which was, I'm bisexual. I almost cried seeing such a relatable scene and seeing you in the show was amazing as well, of course because you're a role model for bisexuals everywhere. 😊
My favourite character is Nick, I love that boy, would protect him with everything. I didn't cry during that scene, but I felt like my heart got so big while watching it. I'm only sometimes a crier, moreso during sad stuff rather than happy.

I cry every single time the song "Clear Blue", the one that is playing when Tara and Darcy are dancing is on now. Every single time. Tears of joy.
the kiss scene between tara and darcy and then seeing how joyful nick is seeing them, like he's thinking how free and happy they look and how much he wants that too (kudos to kit connor for that face dude!!!!!!) - that scene just killed me the first time i watched too. like i was choking back sobs lol. i think that scene has that effect on most people who see it tho honestly. like i think it just captures this feeling as a queer person of wishing we could be this free all the time.. it's kind of interesting too cause if you think of gay night clubs and stuff like that's where a lot of queer people go to feel free and express themselves so it kind of feels like a nod to that culture as well.
The insane thing about this is that YOU literally helped Nick realise his love for Charlie. They kissed because of YOU 🤩🤯

I did cry. I love how they portrayed Nick as a Bisexual male with so much respect. For young actors they have a great deal of maturity playing the roles and being young there is an amazing innocence

I loved this episode, and I definitely cried when Tara and Darcy kissed. It is a scene which centers gay joy like I've rarely seen. And I think many queer people end up feeling the same thing as Nick. It's a moment that reminds us or teaches us that queer love can be transcendent and beautiful. It hopefully makes him think "That could be me."

I totally teared up in both those kissing scenes in this episodes. Tara and Darcy kinda even the third time, cuz that was such a revelatory moment even for Nick...
It makes me cry every time I watch it or read it in the book. The emotional intensity is immense and the courage Charlie has to have that conversation is also immense to find the clarity of where things were going. Let’s not hold back on what this has done for each one of us and for everybody who watches it in the future.
I think the moment in this episode that got to me the most is the very end. When Charlie opened the door, my eyes definitely welled up at what he saw. But it really is a lovely episode from beginning to end.

I cried through the whole show! I wish a character like Nick existed when I was a teenager figuring out my bisexuality. I’m 35 now and I didn’t feel like I could come out as anything until I was in my mid 20s. It’s very bittersweet. Definitely very happy that this show/comic exists for all the younger generations out there!
Oh I definitely did cry during the kissing scene. I've been reading the books for years and knew it was coming and held out for most of the episodes but that moment was too WHOLESOME I lost it
Its a very beautiful moment , I just filmed the last 2 episodes and I loved it I cried so many time I cried when I nick was watching my videos I cried when nick come out to his mum I even cried when Charlie said he's used to be bullied so emotional

I love Kit’s portrayal of the confusion and panic, and also the bravery displayed to overcome Nick’s fears … enough to kiss Charlie. I was in school in the early 70s and no one was out. I didn’t feel like I could broach the subject with anyone and the one close friend I tried to talk about it, someone I suspected was a lesbian, she up and married her boyfriend at the end of term a few months later. She later came out as a lesbian. I was confused by suddenly being attracted to guys, as I was always attracted to girls and figured I must be a lesbian. I ended up marrying, and while physically attracted to men, I really don’t have romantic feelings about them as I do for women… so, I guess my first impression of myself was right. There can be so much to figure out when it comes to gender, sexuality, and love.
I got really emotional too at the dancing scene. What I would have done to feel that energy at my prom in high school.

I’m a 45 year old gay man. I’ve watched this show 5 times and it wasn’t until the 5th time that I wasn’t an absolute puddle. It’s so beautiful, and I’m so happy it exists esp for young queer kids, but even years of therapy and processing couldn’t prepare me for the overwhelming sense of a lost childhood…
No apologies for crying! Boys and us AMAB enbies have been told too many times that boys don’t cry when growing up. Your expression of emotion is wonderful and wholesome!

My favorite moments in Heartstopper: 1. The kiss in the rain under the umbrella. 2. The boys playing in the snow. 3. Every scene with just Nick & Charlie in it.
Never apologise for crying. These are your emotions at that moment and it is so good to see that you can allow them. This marks you out as an honest strong person who can stand by himself.
I think i watched this show like 5 times already, and i feel sad for no having something like this in my teens, would've changed sooo many things yet i am really happy that the teens who watch this can have a nice, warm and happy representation

I'm in love with the way this show represents the challenges and fears of figuring out your sexuality. It can be so confusing, and Heartstopper masterfully uses music, social media, looks between characters, pauses, etc to get that feeling across to the audience. I wish a show like this had existed when I was in school. It would have made a world of difference!

In a series I always pick my favorite episode of the season, but this series it's impossible to single out a favorite episode so I just pick favorite scenes in an episode instead. That Tara and Darcy kiss made me cry so much, while screaming, "WHY DIDNT WE HAD THIS KIND OF SHOWS WHEN I WAS YOUNG!?" Hhahaha

to treat them as worthy of the respect afforded to heterosexuals in society. We didn't get to have gay couples featured in mainstream entertainment media because of something arising on its own. The risks taken that came with this activism were substantial. They deserve appreciation.

So this is one of my favourite shows this episode feels so pure I was a mess. It's a wall of complicated emotions,. I wish lgbt youth had this when i was young. Not saying its easy now but it was a lot harder then. But I digress that kiss was just so adorable, I feel I spend my time watching going 'awww' at everything then feeling the tears. And can I shout out about Charlie's Dad been so supportive.

At this point I think every episode has made me cry at some point or another 😭❤ I love this show so much I don't even have words to express it
I have watched Heartstopper four times now and I've cried every time. I cried while watching your review. I loved the scenes where Nick watches your You Tube videos to help him understand his bisexuality. Heartstopper has been incredibly emotional for me...it has brought up painful memories of being bullied, but also the sweet memories of experiencing a first time gay love. I melt every time that Nick and Charlie hold hands and kiss. I love everything about Heartstopper...the story, the soundtrack (Orla Gartland's song "Why Am I Like This?" is the question that every gay, lesbian, bisexual or trans person asks themselves as they start to discover who they are), the animation that ties it into Alice Oseman's webcomic, and even the way that they use texts and Instagram to carry the emotions and conversation along. I cannot wait for the second season. I thank you for being part of the experience.

I never cry at movies. But Tara and Darcy kissing at the party and Nick watching them being so proud and carefree, pure queer joy beaming out of them it gets me in tears every time. Not everyone gets emotional with that scene, but for me I think it just shows that we LGBTQ derserve happiness. Also the melancholy of not being able to have any of these moments when I was their age.

@@Courtney-Jai i think thats absolutly normal, im 29 and i outet myself finally last year christmas as polysexual, because i didn't had anything to identify with when i was younger. i cried at so many scenes, espacially nicks, because i could relate so much. i think ist important for queer people to feel okay with feeling these feelings and also cry if that helps, because it is sometime just very releaving. I also wish so much i had this representation when i was about 14.
