Sometimes I watch teen love stories like this and think about what I missed...because I was still closeted to myself and in denial. It's nice to see someone experience this journey in adulthood.
When Mr. Ajayi says there’s no age limit on those youthful experiences of discovery it broke me because I never had them as a teen and I feel like I missed out on so much, it was so healing to hear it ❤️🩹
I'm not queer but I'm a "late bloomer", meaning I just didn't find that special someone yet (not that I didn't want it, but just didn't happen), and I find that late first time side storyline very appealing, it's not weird, it's not something to be ashamed of, it's just how things played out. Some are lucky to find love early, and some find it later, and if you don't want it at all that's just as fine. I have a friend who went on a blind date at 17 and it was love at first sight, first date she ever had and she hit the jackpot, recently got married to the guy, she's super cute with her husband but what they have and how early they got to have it is exceptional. Not everybody is as lucky
The fact that the teachers were my favorite part of this season kind of shows that I've officially moved out of the target audience group for this show lol. I feel kind of old. But also look at them... Actual rays of sunshine.
I have felt that way from the beginning. I'm in my 30s, so definitely not the demo, but I was watching their story unfold and feeling more for their beginning than anyone else's. Side note: I also really loved Isaac's story this season.
I'm almost 20, so I'm old enough to be past most of what Charlie & Nick and the other kids have to deal with. I used to love them when the comics were first coming out and I was 13-14, and I still do! But at the same time, I feel like I'm losing a bit of interest here and there. Now that I'm bigger, I'm liking the teachers a lot more.
I’m only 20 aha but even I found more of an impact on myself when those characters kissed rather than the younger ones. Maybe because I don’t feel like I could have that experience until I’m older, since I haven’t yet. So I can’t really relate to the younger characters experience as much aha. But in terms of favourite character I definitely do favour the main characters, however I do completely understand you all preferring the teachers because they are really great characters
i love love love him! as a fan of the comics, I can't believe how amazing the casting has been so far! I love all the new things they added to the show and all the adaptations
The comic has some glimpses into the teachers' life after the Paris trip, so since Alice said that a tv show needs more plot to keep moving compared to the compactness of the kind of comic Heartstopper started like, I have my hopes up regarding their story being told too.
As an adult watching Heartstopper, seeing Fisayo portraying an adult queer story with first time experiences was beautiful! It really showed not all of us had those teenage love experiences. More importantly, it showed it’s never too late to have them! In addition, Fisayo's speech about Florida’s bills is on point. These “people” don't care about children. They only care about forcing the world into their ignorant beliefs. Let’s keep loving one another, being wonderful examples of inclusivity and acceptance, and being kind to ourselves. I LOVE YOU, HEARTSTOPPER!!
As a young Black/mixed queer teacher this representation means a lot to me especially because I am still trying to find a good balance between being caring and kind but also a good amount of strict and it was nice to see both.
As someone who lives in Florida and used to be a teacher it’s really sobering to hear this discussion. We are just in survival mode down here. It’s good to know there are folks supporting us. A lot of people want us to just vanish or outcast us so it’s great to hear SUPPORTIVE comments and reminding everyone out there that there’s queer people here in Florida just trying to survive.
I saw Nima for the first time as Ligniere in Cyrano de Bergerac, which was brilliant. Then I discovered Fisayo was Mercutio in the BBC's Romeo and Juliet, which was outstanding. Those are my two favorite plays, so seeing them together in Heartstopper feels like a birthday present!
There’s a reason why this interview with Nima and Fisayo is the most viewed out of all the new heartstopper cast members. It’s because we as the Heartstopper audience is growing and identifying with Adults more and more. Nima and Fisayo are two beautiful souls that we love so much and we can’t wait to see what they do next!
I don't know why, possibly 'cause i'm a little old, but i have a crush for Mr.Farouk in the serie. And with this Attitude Portrait, i have a crush too for the actor who play Mr Farouk...... I watched it-actually watched the first season-about 30 times. It was a future I could imagine that was far from my past. Like many older viewers, it was a way to work through past trauma and having to live life in a closet. Got to move beyond the sadness of what was and fully into the joy of what could be.
Fisayo Akinade's Mr. Ajayi reminds me, since season 1, of a beloved english teacher I had in high school. One of the first openly gay people I met in life who was unapologetically himself and managed to be strict and the fun teacher at the same time. And now watching someone who reminds me of him, going about the stupid school bills, makes me love his character and his actor even more ♥ Fisayo Akinade you're one of my favourite people ♥ Daniel would've rolled his eyes and loved this series ♥
