an interesting thing is that most of the cast are lgbtq+ in real life too (including Elle who is a transgirl) and they support the cause a lot, they are truly activists and the author (who is also actively directing the series) is also lgbt so you can expect a lot of realistic teenage romance not only in this one but in the next seasons

This is the Gen Z coming of age, coming out story we all needed. I was raised within the queer community and was fortunate to never suffer from comp-het but so many people my age and those that came before us, did. Shows like this destigmatize and offer good representation. Everyone can find something relatable and I think this is truly such an amazing show that shows it is not only okay to be who you are, but that who you are should be celebrated. Everyone is worthy of love and joy and deserves to be seen so this show is definitely a step in the right direction.
I agree. Although, the gen z comment is a bit weird bc I'm gen z and questioned/came to terms with my sexuality in like 2012/2013 in wattpad and tumblr and barely any good fiction. Didnt have a lot of media. I get what you mean but me and my peers in our early twenties to mid twenties are still gen z but have been out for a decade or so.

This show is amazing! The sheer amount of representation packed into the eight episodes is great. As someone who has recently realized I’m biromantic (still figuring out the sexual side of it), I love the actual positive bi rep in the show, something we hardly ever get to see
idk if this sounds strange, but im so happy for you that you were able to figure out the romantic aspect! Its the opposite for me, ive realized im ace but im so confused about the romantic part. I feel like being ace has made it so much harder for me to figure that other part out and know who I like, at this point im really not sure if im aromatic or not or idek. Looking forward to the day I can understand it a bit better lol!

Just in case this is helpful in understanding/eliminating the ace option, being ace doesn't mean you just dislike sex, or that you aren't open to the option of having sex. Being ace just means that you have little to no sexual attraction to other people. But when it comes to feelings towards sex, its a different experience for different people. Some ace people still want to have sex out of curiosity or because the experience was actually enjoyable enough for them (sex-positive). Others are neutral towards it and others feel sex-repulsed. I, for myself, feel neutral and wouldn't mind if it happens or not. So what actually ties it all together is that general lack (or little sense) of sexual attraction! Though, since you say you do actually feel strong sexual preference for the opposite sex, then if that's the case you probably aren't ace, given that you do experience sexual attraction towards people. Sorry this is so long! hope things start making the best sense for you soon :)

I'd suggest once you are through the series, after reviewing it, binge-watch it again at least 2 full times (ie: 3 watches) and catch ALL the little moments you have missed. Trust me there are SO MANY MOMENTS in this series it's mind-blowing. I ordered every single one of Alice Oseman's books so I could be up to scratch on her Heartstopper/Solitaire universe. Solitaire is her first book which introduces this world and many of the characters in it, and there are other books and novellas which fill in gaps in the story. There are currently 4 printed Heartstopper Novels in Comic Form, and book 5 is a web-comic, soon to be published, and Alice said book 6 will conclude the series of webcomic Nick and Charlie storylines. There are other books focussing on Charlie's sister, who I find amazing and so super loving and supportive of Charlie, also Charlie's father is literally the Dad we all wished we had. Not to mention Olivia Colman, who was brilliant as Nick's Mom. I've binge-watched this series a grand total of 6 times, and am about to start binging on it the 7th time. I'm from a much older gay generation, having my first kiss and boyfriend around age 14/15, and back then being gay was deemed a psychological illness (1970s). I was worried about the bullying issues in the story, but it was refreshing to see the friendships among the characters and how Nick protected Charlie from Ben's non-consensual attempts to kiss Charlie. Nick stepped up, and that was a win for him, no matter if he's gay, bi, straight, or whatever. Charlie was bullied for over a full year prior and you can see he is gaining self-confidence, and that is something many young people have issues with. A great friendship foundation is just PERFECT. Just also so you know -- HEARTSTOPPER got a 100% FRESH Rating by Rotten Tomatoes (review site) which is a miracle !!! No film ever got that high a rating level within a day of its release. Also, the result caused DISNEY to announce they were putting LOVE, VICTOR on Disney Plus in time for Season 3 this summer. But maybe Jason and Corey, you could later do a comparison of the representation between Love, Victor, and Heartstopper, in so far as the differences, as none of the characters (except in Boys Trip) are actually LGBT in real life. Whereas, in Heartstopper the entire range of the spectrum has actor representation with LGBT actors. I find personally the Heartstopper actors are not "prettied up perfect", and they are really emotional and real. At first view, you think the story is cheesy, but binge-watch it a few times, and you see how brilliant Alice Oseman's writing is. Alice was very very involved in the production of this series, and she does a fun cameo in it later on. Many people on Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok have responded with so much positivity, one person actually used Nick's coming out scene with his Mom, to actually come out to their own parents. I am one of those older gay guys, who lost his boyfriend to homophobia in the 80s, who wrote: I wish things were this positive when we were young and discovering who we were and that we didn't have to hide, out of fear from everyone and everything. This is an uplifting wondrous series for the LGBT youth of today and gives them HOPE.
Love watching you both watch! As I watched Heartstopper, all I could think of was that I was watching JOY. Isn't it amazing how something so "basic" can elicit such feelings? Truly magic.

I binged watched this whole first season and though it was so good. And the animation added to the odd scene was cute but not over done. I have re-watched it again and really enjoyed it. Fun fact...the guy who plays Charlie in an interview. He said the extras were told to slow down for that running scene as he couldn't keep up. As the episodes continue, you'll find that one rugby character might remind you of a certain Harry Potter character. This series has some points/reminders of Love, SImon and Love, Victor. But keeps true to it's own journey. For Netflix top 10 most viewed shows, this one placed 5th.
Omg I just binged watched it yesterday from midnight to 6am with my mates and it was amazing just brought back some memories back when I was a little Asian gay teen from Manchester England. I went through something similar 20 yrs ago. I binged this series in one night and I'm in love. A friend of mine told me about the graphic novels a few months ago which already sparked some interest and now I'm so happy I jumped on the hype train to watch this show. I don't want to spoil anything here, but the queer representation is just so lovely and also the way the graphic/comic art style from the novels was incorporated in the show. It's quite cheesy but the good kind! So many romantic cliches you normally only see in heteronormative media made in a beautifully queer romantic way... You will love this show, guys.
I've been watching this show every day since April 22nd. Am I obsessed. Perhaps. But I can't live without this show anymore. I would have wished for this positive representation when I was younger.

I had a feeling you'd be doing a reaction for this real soon :). I have to be honest, I've binged the entire series about 5 times now, laughed and cried everytime. But it's the uplifting nature of the series that is truly heartwarming. As I've seen in many comments and interviews: I too wished there was a show like this when I was younger, just to have some outside confirmation that it's okay to be who you are. I'll maybe share my story later, feel like I might be spoiling a couple of things maybe :P. I am looking at getting the graphic novels, I'm properly fanboy-ing :P. Enjoy the series guys! :D

I love watching people’s reactions watching it. I first turned it on expecting something boring and lame to put me to sleep. I was so wrong and I’m glad I was. I watched the whole season back to back.

Ahhhh yes this show is honestly giving us so many things that we just need. I love it, it’s already become a comfort show
I binged watched this whole first season and though it was so good. And the animation added to the odd scene was cute but not over done. I have re-watched it again and really enjoyed it. Fun fact...the guy who plays Charlie in an interview. He said the extras were told to slow down for that running scene as he couldn't keep up. As the episodes continue, you'll find that one rugby character might remind you of a certain Harry Potter character. This series has some points/reminders of Love, SImon and Love, Victor. But keeps true to it's own journey. For Netflix top 10 most viewed shows, this one placed 5th.

Omg I just binged watched it yesterday from midnight to 6am with my mates and it was amazing just brought back some memories back when I was a little Asian gay teen from Manchester England. I went through something similar 20 yrs ago. I binged this series in one night and I'm in love. A friend of mine told me about the graphic novels a few months ago which already sparked some interest and now I'm so happy I jumped on the hype train to watch this show. I don't want to spoil anything here, but the queer representation is just so lovely and also the way the graphic/comic art style from the novels was incorporated in the show. It's quite cheesy but the good kind! So many romantic cliches you normally only see in heteronormative media made in a beautifully queer romantic way... You will love this show, guys.

I had a feeling you'd be doing a reaction for this real soon :). I have to be honest, I've binged the entire series about 5 times now, laughed and cried everytime. But it's the uplifting nature of the series that is truly heartwarming. As I've seen in many comments and interviews: I too wished there was a show like this when I was younger, just to have some outside confirmation that it's okay to be who you are. I'll maybe share my story later, feel like I might be spoiling a couple of things maybe :P. I am looking at getting the graphic novels, I'm properly fanboy-ing :P.
