You can skip the practice laps by pausing and exit and it gives an option to skip practice. But I think an option to practice or go direct to race would be better.
They had this on their Instagram so it seems like they got the same feedback. Glad I saw it, too. If they patch the game having that mentioned (that you don't need to do it) would be great.
@@SuperHornetX did some research and if your monitor has higher refresh rates lets say 240Hz yours will be locked to 120 or from 144 to 72Hz. So not a big problem
The races not being super short in the beginning is good news for me. Usually in Forza I'm annoyed at being forced to start dead last of super short races meaning the only way to progress is to lower the AI difficulty way below your skill level and race like bumper cars just to have a chance to get to the podium...
Unfortunately that selection option doesnt seem to be present anymore in FM8. Just a few lap longer races without any user control are 1 step forward 2 steps back.@@giec3484
If there is qualifying that gets added to this game and the raining physics is improved a little bit and more tracks this will be closest thing to sim out on the market for any platform
@@CardinalsFan11 It's not a full blown sim, nor does it really aim to be? It's an immersive racing game. Forza trying to be a full blown sim is a losing game for them. Better games out there for that, that don't provide as good of a 'game' experience. People don't buy Forza for the most realistic tyre models or racing experience.
@@CardinalsFan11 I doubt they'll add qualifying. They've never added anything like that after release. But having ability to choose grid position means you can kinda fudge qualifying yourself
Really loving the multiplayer races, genuinely feels like well balanced racing with people trying to go fast and be respectful instead of ramming you. Fingers crossed it stays like that after actual release

@@vvs6433 I bought FM5 second hand recently and played a fair bit of it. FM8 feels almost identical. Same weight to the cars, same weirdly bitty loss of traction, same body roll. It's strange that the closer something gets to a full sim the more this stuff starts irritating me. I never bother comparing Horizon with Assetto. But with Motorsport I'm constantly thinking of how smooth loss of traction i s in AC compared to FM8. It's like the uncanny racing valley.
Open track day lobbies? For me this was the best feature of FM7, joining lobbies with friends with unlimited racing, just chilling practicing together, pulling over and sitting at the side of the track watching every one race. When you got a full 24/24 lobby of decent racers this is hands down the best feature of FM7 by a long shot, I can't even explain how important it was for me and my Forza group.
@@snakeNP215 I got the game the other day, nope it's not included, they do have short practice sessions before races, somewhat makes up for it, but not really because the dynamic isn't the same, everyone is too competitive still in practice sessions, it doesn't have the chill vibe like old open track days
It’s easy to skip but l they offer credits and it’s more realistic so I guess with it being a sim they offer that option..if you need extra credits and rewards go for it.If not skip it
Great review pal. I appreciate you actually showing the setup of custom single player races as this is my go to mode in racing games. One quick question with regards to the ai, how are effective are they at pit stops when the weather changes?
I was playing earlier today on Spa and had wet weather to start off but when it dried up the car in front of me pulled in straight away and the couple of cars I could see behind also went in - can't say I was looking specifically for that so don't know if every single car went in or not Update: Just did a freeplay event with variable weather condition - Started dry and started raining about halfway into the 7th lap. Every single car went into the pits after that point and put wet tyres on, don't think there was a single one that stayed out.
I do agree as someone who likes realism I think it falls short for me in that regard. What impresses me, is the way the devs handled lighting. I cannot explain how difficult it is to merge those mechanics to produce the effects they did. I still do think gt 7 is my current go to just because the game is more focused on realism. I am still going to keep playing for a motorsport because it’s fun.
I never said it was realistic but it does have more realism. I think the gt7 steering wheel experience is great, but that is my opinion. I kinda also think aside from haptics the feeling of playing Motorsport on a controller has been really cool! @@ESKATEUK
@@ESKATEUKvery true. It’s sad really. Look how far GT7 came and how many features never got reused like the prize car feature for completing championships. And a lot of events never coming back. The red emblem All star championship. The legend of the silver arrow. And so on. Their is basically no point to do the championships again. GT4 had a feature where you could redo the championships and get prize cars
@@kevinnagar7539 it you think gt7 is great on the steering wheel then you clearly have not played assetto corsa, assetto corsa competizione, even dirt rally or project cars 2, they all absolutely laugh at the steering feel of GT7, GT7 has absolutely no detail, only weight. It’s the most disappointing game I’ve played.
I hope that we’re able to actually see the track getting rubbered in as well as physically feel it too. One of the things I really want to see from this game is
I haven't seen it when I was racing on Kalami but I definitely felt it after about 3-4 laps which was nice. Until about lap 7-8 when my tires started losing grip haha. Still have street tires though on the '90 Alpine GTA Le Mans
Tip if using a controller - go into the advanced controller settings and set the deadzones to 0 and outer zones to 100 for brakes and gas. Not sure why you’d want a delay on the triggers and not want the full range of their motion to control the car. I also did the same with the steering deadzone (set to 0) otherwise it just feels delayed when turning 👍
I personally prefer the steering deadzones at 5, at least I have in all other Forza games. That slight change helps a bit if you're a little heavy handed when turning. It's not enough to feel delayed but stops it feeling too light. 🙂
a deadzone for the controller is in my opinion (and in my case) pretty useful. FE: my controller has a slight drift that i started noticing while playing stafield and in starfield there is no deadzone setting so my characters would sometimes keekp walking or looking around. now with a deadzone i can fine tune it so my car in forza wont slowly creep to the left or right on the straight.
Not being able to buy a car and tune it freely kills the one thing that kept me playing previous forza games. Myself and friends would chose a theme and class (eg mid engine class B etc) and see what we could come up with, both in races and time trials over the week. From predictable grip and weight reduction cars to wild engine swap boats, we would try them all and have a great time doing it. It's such a shame that's gone, it's the biggest strength of the franchise IMHO.
@@Lenron-B06 I think beating the career mode should reward you with the freedom to tune like you can in previous forza games, so you get the better progression instead of just being given everything, and then get the freedom later to keep you playing
I'm quite sad that they're not launching with the Nordschleife. I never really liked multiplayer so probably the last 100 hours I've logged have been setting lap times there in different classes.
I kinda like the level system, however if you buy 2 of the same car it should be whatever level the first car is. I’ve always had a progression issue with Motorsport after FM4. After 2 months of the game I’d have all the cars I want and I wouldn’t progress through the game. This makes me want to play the game and have a progression that makes you work for what you want. With the customization I feel like if you level up to a certain level everything should be unlocked, kinda like MW3 and BO2 back in the day with prestige.
The level system is really bad. The progression is way to slow. There’s 500+ cars in the game it shouldn’t take 3 hours to level up a car. I wanna use a bunch of cars but I also don’t wanna grind my life away to upgrade them. AR12 made a video and it took OVER 24 HOURS of gameplay to level up 13 cars to 50. Who in there right mind is going to wanna play a game that much for such little progression.
i'd love to see you try out assetto corsa competizione, and maybe plau through a few championships, that game is insane in terms of realism and overall physics. The sound is also out of this world, and so is are the graphics. As someone who spends a lot of time in gran turismo, i'd love to see your take on ACC
ACC is a true sim. It’s not as accessible as gt or forza. I love it even on ps5. Gt is my road car game and ACC is my serious race weekend with leagues game when I want a real as I can get. Although I’d kill for ACC graphics in gt with crazy that would be amazing. Hopefully AC2 has PSVR2 support. To most casual console gamers though a game like ACC would be inaccessible due to the higher learning curve
I bought acc and tried to return it after less than an hr of game play and they wouldn’t refund me my money, I think the game is horrible, this new forza is wat I was expecting when I bought acc
@@snakeNP215 games like ACC are real sims. Best not played on a controller. Best played on an actual rig. Seems like you’re an arcade casual racer. Just stick to forza.
@@snakeNP215 i can’t really follow you here. You bought acc thinking it was a casual racing game, or an actual sim. Acc is a sim for sure, and if you crank the settings, the game looks and feels much much better than forza. I’ve tried the new forza for an hour or so, and lost interest. The racing is too arcady, and the graphics is a massive letdown. We were promised next gen racing graphics, and basically got a cut down FH5. Acc on launch was horrible though, if you havn’t tried it in the last year or so, please go give it another go, i can almost promise you it’s going to be some fun.
An actual decent review by someone who actually knows what he's on about. I still don't like the vehicle levelling system and i hope it's something that can be changed down the line. I love being able to buy a normal car, spend 10 minutes or so upgrading and tuning it and then seeing how it compares to other cars like supercars/hypercars, touring cars, GT cars etc etc.
>An actual decent review by someone who actually knows what he's on about. The exception being his understanding of how dusk and dawn work in real life lol
A big issue I had in 7 was the bot difficulty at max difficulty being oddly faster than the player can make the same car go. I would tune a car as much as I could squeeze out of it and yet the slower car somehow passes me which just baffles me. A shame forza glue is still there as that also felt unjust when the aggressive AI would ram me in a corner to keep a line, and a shame the AI seems to act just like the forza 7 ones with the skill packs in races where its always two ahead and 4 or so far behind that slows down when you finally pass them. Also agreed that Forza edition cars shouldnt be a thing and just let us decide if we want a body kit or not. Also one day for sure we will get bumpers and fenders and wings falling off again, one day.
Not really sure what you mean by "let us decide if we want a body kit or not"? All of the Forza Editions are just alternative versions cars that already exist in the game, hence the name. You absolutely can decide if you'd like to use the forza version, with a body kit, or the regular version, which does not. And as for what was said in the video, implying Forza Editions somehow takes away from the car list, that's just a bit ridiculous, especially considering its just a variant of an existing car.
@@thatguyandersonbut…it does take away from the car list… yes it’s just a variation of the car, but it should not be an entirely separate car and should just be a variant we can choose from when using the normal car. Realistically it barely takes away from the car list but it still does nonetheless. I think that’s what home boy is trying to say. The game kinda encourages you to use FE cars considering it gives a boost to credits, xp, etc when using it.
@@gigacream5830 the varient thing is just dumb as fuck. like wow... a better idea would be to completely remove forza edition cars and instead add forza edition parts. no performance difference. just some effects like xp bonuses and a higher cost in order to install them. problem solved
That makes sense, or even an affinity style system where leveling one car from a manufature to 50 grants you a boost to others, like starting from level 5 or 10 and maybe a xp bonus to represent the manufature relationship
Turn 10 has continued their practices since the first title , give you new stuff in the next title and take key things from the previous ones that made the game good. Great video!
Thanks for the detailed review. I was ready to jump into it shortly after launch, but now I think I'll wait and watch what kind of improvements are added to it over time. There are paid beta testers and then there are paying beta testers... Thank you for your contribution 😅 Why am I not surprised that someone with a profile pic of "I support the current thing" is also stupid enough to pay £70 for an unfinished product... Some people are just living caricatures of themselves...
The whole leveling the car thing is what bothers me the most, on one hand it is a nice addition to see with which car you are proficient and possibly good, but to lock tuning parts and such behind that is just a big ass nope considering that in FM7 you rarely use the same car for more than one race. It is great to see that the Penalty system was improved, especially track limits, which were terrible when they added it at the end of FM7 development life.
I feel like it'd be done better if it took inspiration from FM6's "affinity" system where you gain levels for certain manufacturers for driving their cars. In that game it just affected payouts as far as I could tell, but tying upgrades to affinity would actually give it a use.
I gave this game a strong 3/10. My disappointed in the development in the game is that it is now iteration #8. There is no heat soaking, no ecu tuning, no reliability/degradation to the vehicle, upgrade a 200hp engine to 400hp and do a million hours at lemans with no engine failure, and just so much more that would remotely give you the sense of realism when building a track car or racing the car on track. I'm not saying over do it, but add some realism to the game - the true motorsport. As far as upgrade goes, I do wish Forza and GT took a chance a bit more and by that is expanding on the typical 3 stage builds. I would love to see that when you click on Engines>>>Turbo>>Compressor>3stages, Turbine>3stage, Down Pipes>3Stage, Intercooler>3Stage, or Wastage>3Stage. With more power you decrease reliability, and that could mean your vehicle will last 3 laps or 15 laps before you see failure.
for me the needs of leveling the car so you can upgrade the car is a good thing. it makes you play more or engage more and more satisfying knowing you worked hard to get there. but don't mind me I recently just started playing racing game. and I'm only using controller. 😂
I'll definitely buy it, but I absolutely hate the vehicle progression system with the upgrades. I would much prefer to just be able to build whatever I want whenever I want to race online as I please. Having to spend 3 hours per car to unlock all the parts seems like an artificial way to incentivize play time.
Kind of seriously bums me out. I was so excited but with this upgrade system I’ll take a hard pass. I really don’t understand why they went this direction……
I too sold tunes on the marketplace in the previous iterations, but I don't see or feel a need to invest in this one.... Sad because I truly love the Forza franchise and have every ultimate edition released from 3 onward, as 2 didn't have one. I think they need to re-address the tuning and upgrade systems here before I consider hopping in.
It's strange, because apparently they used the TAA tech that 343 developed for Halo Infinite, which I think actually does look pretty sharp for the most part. Haven't played this yet, but maybe it's the high movement speed that makes it less sharp?
That's absolutely the reason, probably wanted to eliminate the shimmering which was quite prominent in FM7, especially on complex geometry like fences.
@@Braconara1981 - That may be true but after having just played the newest one for an hour or so, I must say I think 7 looks better. Even with resolution scaling set to 200%, FM still looks blurry.

Edit: I am greatly mistaken. Forza Motorsport is not using Unreal Engine but Forzatech Engine by Turn 10 studios. They are probably focusing on a cinematic style thats why it looks like a game made from Unreal.
@@valuehunter5544 That could also contribute but if you look at the older assetto corsa game using fsr, it still looks sharper and the textures doesnt look very soft or bloomy. I have heard that the upcoming Assetto Corsa 2 game will be using a newer engine from Kunos. This change is mainly for the game technology and mechanics but I am interested to see how the game graphics would look like.
After playing Forza 7 for 84years it’s nice to finally be able to start a brandnew Forza adventure.. bit of a disappointment that the Nordschleife isn’t in the tracklist yet, I can’t wait to give that a go. @@DishWashingLiquid yes, but if they are to be believed, they're going to keep building onto this game for the next years, instead of developing a new one.
@@DishWashingLiquid It's like a reboot, and it feels like a different, yet similar, approach to a motorsport game. They tried different things and such, so it is indeed a foundation that can be built upon to maybe become either better, or stay like an "okay" game.
Most fair review I’ve seen. The handling just isn’t there. Not enough grip so everything feels loose no matter if it’s a starter car or a Porsche 911 even. Hopefully they focus on handling and tyre model in the next patch and this game could be very good. 7.5 is spot on.

I'm hoping the car xp doesn’t ruin that type of event because of the amount of time it takes to level a car to unlock all the upgrades. Otherwise, the racing seems good so I would think aside from leveling a car it would work well. Haven't played the game yet though, so grain of salt.
@SylasG Skill matters. And so does setting your car up in a way that helps your driving style. Even simple things like tuning the gearing ratios to your liking are locked behind the car xp.

Great detailed, honest review. Thanks mate. Seems like a solid package which will get better over time but not the leap I was hoping for unfortunately :(
Ffb and physics definitely feel like a leap from fm7 if that's something you care for. The upgrade system is a drag hoping they make it better with some patches later on
Absolutely Spot on score! Review was done so well. I expected a real HIGHLIGHTED game "WOW" FACTOR... so to speak! Time will tell with additional content and actual experiences. Still happy that Forza put out a new game. Thank You! 😊
The most important point imo is the multiplayer. Practice, Qualifying and Racing with Safety and Driver Rating. That is all I wanted for a approachable, easy to pick up game for the PC. Just like Gran Turismo - sadly only for the PlayStation. I hope Forza will have more variety in the Races. Gran Turismo only features normal road cars, GT2 (rare), GT3 & GT4 for official online races. I wish there would be more. So I hope Forza will give us more variety. Atleast more in-depth variety like only cars from the 1980-1990s or a certain Manufacturer. I saw in the video you have driven like a Oldsmobile Nascar online? Which would indicate there is more variety. Wish there would be a topic about this in this Review but it's probably way too soon to be able to talk about that.
@@e2rqey That's a weird restriction, higher framerates aren't all that beneficial for racing games unlike fps games. There's probably some physics anomalies tied to the framerate.

I've played Forza since the first one came out. Every new version of the game has been a compromise in one way or another and I've overlooked a lot of shortcomings thru the series because at its core you could come home from work, spend your 2 hours upgrading 2 or 3 cars to various classes and feel very satisfied. With this new upgrading system it feels like Turn 10 is gatekeeping my right to enjoy the game. I'll be damned if I'm going to give them a dime just for them to throttle my experience.
-i agree, what urks me more is the MUST be online for single player, that is what i will NEVER pay for in a NON MMO game. if FM is going MMO then i am OUT & will NEVER spend a dime on this B$ future of games............. i loved gran turismo but when they went online B$ with GTS & now gt7 i didn't buy in to it or a PS5. NO THX, i am Not a kid & have better things to do.
I had a great time playing with an old Miata the Golf and the old Subaru brz. It hits the perfect spot for a casual but still believable racing experience, at least with road cars. Graphics are very detailed and makes finding breaking points easier than other games. It feels a very balanced game. The only thing I miss are... tracks! Not enough European or Asian technical tracks.
1:50 you can skip practice. It’s in the pause menu. Many have complained about this, and while they’re all wrong, I think it’s on Forza for having a rubbish menu and not making it an obvious option. Skip practice should be the first button in the pause menu.
I feel like turn 10 asked him to review the game and he did it with little enthusiasm and I totally get it. Playing Gran turismo 7 and then going to this game is like downgrading from a ferrari to a corvette. I had hope for this game and I thought that Gran turismo 7 would finally have good competition but nope, they have a lot of work to do before they can actually get close to GT7, Both in the gameplay department and even more in the graphics department.

From what I've played so far, the game feels really good on controller. The multiplayer format is also really nice tbh. It's a good thing for me, because that's legitimately all I needed out of the game. For single player, it's very tedious. I expected it to be, and it's hard to ignore. The upgrades being locked by level is absolutely braindead. I don't know who thought of it, but they need to be fired. I think the money will be fine over the long term, but they should still up the amount of money you get. I hope the community pressures T10 into making these sorts of changes sooner rather than later.
My concerns over upgrading are why I've decided to go with a month on GamePass, instead of buying it at launch. That's a first for Forza with me. I think that having higher quality upgrades locked to progression could have worked well but not being able to do basic changes (like wet tyres for a wet race) until you've progressed is not good IMO. Hopefully it'll play better than it seems on paper.
@@Elwaves2925 Having to drive the car to get upgrades is fine. I think that would be a pretty good way of doing things. The only problem is having upgrades locked behind levels. Different cars need different things, so it just didn't make any sense to lock things behind levels.
A very measured and thorough review, Steve. Coming from you, a Forza veteran, the analysis carries more weight. I had watched a stream by a popular streamer who was positively gushing, and he's normally a GT7 racer/fan. His review had me excited, even looking up prices for consoles, but now im very wary and suspicious. Like I said, your review seemed fair and handed out both compliments and critiicisms. Well done.
So glad your review is fair here and I think 7.5 out 10 is very fair mate, agree with the higher speed cars and over rotating maybe setup changes will fix some that 🤞online is 100% going to be interesting how it develops with more players etc as I’ve found it surprisingly enjoyable online. Fair honest review it’s why I’ll always watch these videos, not over hyping just 100% honesty.
I would have that as long as this game has been in development, and the rise of sim racing, racing wheels would have been integrated into this better. I have an XBOX wheel for Fortza 4, why did they change that? I haven't played fortza since 5, even that game I didn't play a whole lot. I was really hoping, this game would be on par with GT, but it seems like it's still kinda "arcadey"
Really good review Steve. It seems like a lot of the things that they are lacking on can be easily improved with some quality of life updates down the line. Seems like some fine tuning on a few things will help keep this game alive for a few years until the next installment.
Can't wait for your 1000 lap stream when Nordschleife is out 😆 Fortunately I've been able to spend the day in New Zealand from my room and play early-early access - You've summed the game up very well, hit everything and as I was watching could guess to a pretty good degree what you were going to say about everything. It'll be interesting to see how the multiplayer is, whether we actually end up with good competitive racing or whether it'll be Wreckfest 2
Mad to me that they added practice but NOT quailfying!?! Also surely would be a good way to determine which ai would be more suitable to your competitive lap times. Waited ten years for a game that should not have taken that long at all. How many GT games have been out in that time?
The car levelling is welcome, in my opinion that is what has been misssing from forza for a long time. Where is the fun in getting 50 super wheel spins and getting everything you want within hours of playing the game. Not to mention, it extends a feeling of ownership and reward for the cars.
I didn’t like the sound of it at first but since I’ve been playing the game: it’s awesome. I really do like the car leveling. It’s more true to life honestly. No one buys a car and immediately installs every performance part they can on it. I’ve had my 370z for 6 years and in that time I’ve installed: intake, exhaust, manifold, Coilovers, sways, rotors, pads, brake lines, upgraded clutch etc. I’m basically doing the exact same progression on my 370z in game.
I like the handling and how you can kinda feel the grip of the car. It makes it very easy to tell where you are on traction limit. BUT the intro was RIDICULOUS! Why tf do I have to do 3 races just to play with my friend. Absolutely insane
Super, compare this to GT7! I know your primarily a gt7 player but what are your thoughts on both games in terms of realism. Which in your opinion is the better sim?
15:27 I kinda like it, the best AI is out there in the front representing a Hamilton or a Schumacher and the true difficulty of the respective level. I like it
I have traditionally focused on Forza titles. Recently I've been dabbling with ACC and enjoying that. Forza MS has always been more approachable yet still fun. But I have to say, the new release reviews are giving me pause. If this was a next release, 24 or so months following the previous then all this probably adds up. But it's been seven years since FM7 hit the streets. I will likely give it a try. Maybe a birthday or Christmas gift. But this certainly seems to be a lack luster product following 7 years of development. Yes I know, part of that time was impacted by the virus. Even still there was much more dev time allowed than usual. For now, I am feeling down about this release. That's unfortunate.
You could test it for a month on game pass, it is included there, and only for 10 dollars a month, if you don' like it just cancel the subscription again. It is my choice, because I don't trust turn10 on delivering a great game after FM7.
Looks like there’s a good base game, and new content and tweaks can make it a success. Some of the changes are bigger than they seem, well done to the team and good luck in making it successful. You need big balls to compete with gt7, this is going in the right direction.
I'm glad you addressed the replays, it's a deal breaker for me since I already have f7 with it's crap replays. F4 was the last time the replays were good to watch, it looked like genuine sports coverage, then they decided to lock the cameras to the car and zoom in and spin round so you can't see anything, such a shame cos I used to love doing a race and then having a smoke while I watch the replay, oh well.
comments saying they never knew ppl watched replays and here I am thinking I am the only one that watches em... something about viewing the race from a broadcast perspective and seeing how you perform is just as fun as the race to me..
GRAN TURISMO 7 a game that you can play on PS4 is still the king, everybody know it but the comentari of the creators of M8 and arrogance is the make happy to see a 7.9 score.
As I've gotten older, the amount of time I can spend playing these games gets less and less, but my love for the forza motorsport games hasn't diminished one bit. So I've been eagerly waiting years for this game. When I saw the new upgrade system, my heart just sank because I knew there's no way I'd be able to enjoy the game the same as I did with all the ones before. I get grinding for cars but grinding to enjoy them the way you want to is crazy to me. So many great new features ruined by a poorly designed car leveling system. If it gets fixed, they'll have my 100 dollars the moment I get the news, but as of right now I'm not going to waste my money on a game that seems to be designed to be unenjoyable to play.
Agreed. It's a really weird idea. I remember hearing about it a few months ago and my response was 'well obviously they're not really going to make you race for two hours just to level a single model of a single car, there's obviously some information we, as gamers, are missing.' So I wasn't worried, because I thought no sane developer would implement that in a racing game that's built on tuning and customising as many ccars as you want. Turns out my confidence in Turn 10's ability not to violently kick themselves up their own arse was significantly too high. Oh, and the practise laps are just...not fun. These are the kind of additions that need to be in a full sim, but not in simcades. The whole point of making a simcade is so that you can _leave out_ things like enforced practise laps.
I love the multiplayer, got straight into S rating, waited a few days for the rammers to lose their rating, got into it and haven't encountered any rammers, its just been fast, fun clean racing.
I found with manual with clutch, if you hold the clutch a little longer than just a slide you can still power shift and it feels good, quick gearshift and maintains the power

Great review pal. I appreciate you actually showing the setup of custom single player races as this is my go to mode in racing games. One quick question with regards to the ai, how are effective are they at pit stops when the weather changes?
That's a good question. I havn't tested it properly but from the races I did do, they seemed competent enough to pit when the conditions got worse.
I was playing earlier today on Spa and had wet weather to start off but when it dried up the car in front of me pulled in straight away and the couple of cars I could see behind also went in - can't say I was looking specifically for that so don't know if every single car went in or not
Update: Just did a freeplay event with variable weather condition - Started dry and started raining about halfway into the 7th lap. Every single car went into the pits after that point and put wet tyres on, don't think there was a single one that stayed out.
@@Super_GT Yea, great review. Very fair and trustworthy, and you covered everything important as well.

I do agree as someone who likes realism I think it falls short for me in that regard. What impresses me, is the way the devs handled lighting. I am still going to keep playing for a motorsport because it’s fun.

GT7 focused on realism? Oh come on. The games absolutely dead. Clinical, awful feel through the steering wheel.. it’s abysmal.

@@lentsey9363 it's a setting you have to turn on
Tip if using a controller - go into the advanced controller settings and set the deadzones to 0 and outer zones to 100 for brakes and gas.
Yea i had to do this with horizon too
Except outer dead zones are better at 99 to ensure you hit the 100%
Yeahs same for wheel and peddles.
Well people complained about being given everything from the start and this is what they came up with.

They will be coming oh they will be coming, in about 5 days.
That makes sense, or even an affinity style system where leveling one car from a manufature to 50 grants you a boost to others, like starting from level 5 or 10 and maybe a xp bonus to represent the manufature relationship

Yeah honestly my issue is mostly that you have to do a lot to just unlock better tyres…

I'll definitely buy it, but I absolutely hate the vehicle progression system with the upgrades. I would much prefer to just be able to build whatever I want whenever I want to race online as I please. Having to spend 3 hours per car to unlock all the parts seems like an artificial way to incentivize play time.

The lack of sharpness is because they've moved from MSAA to TAA.

This review has been the most helpful in terms of knowing what to expect and pay attention to when I finally start the game for the first time later this day, so thank you for that. And I will be stealing your wheel settings for sure 😂
is the whole Nürburgring not in the game :O
Seems solid, a good foundation for something really great. Looking forward to seeing every out there!
Good foundation??? This is like the 8th forza game lol
@@DishWashingLiquid yes, but if they are to be believed, they're going to keep building onto this game for the next years, instead of developing a new one.
this looks shit. level up my car just so i can upgrade it? no thanks.
@@DishWashingLiquid It's like a reboot, and it feels like a different, yet similar, approach to a motorsport game. They tried different things and such, so it is indeed a foundation that can be built upon to maybe become either better, or stay like an "okay" game.
@@DishWashingLiquidAs the responses to your comment shows…. people will believe anything.
12:22 i have a top end PC, the game is well optimized, looks amazing in 4k HDR max settings and runs well.
Most fair review I’ve seen. The handling just isn’t there. Not enough grip so everything feels loose no matter if it’s a starter car or a Porsche 911 even. Hopefully they focus on handling and tyre model in the next patch and this game could be very good. 7.5 is spot on.
this is so ass after FM7 lets really hope they fix it quick
As someone who will be picking this up but will continue playing GT7 I would like to hear you opinion on the comparison between the 2
I played for about 2 hours now and i am having a blast.
I just hope i can find some settings that work with my g920 because the settings as i have them right now are meh but still fun though. I am too stupid to find my own settings though, i always mess something up xD.
The AI is ruthless though, they really do race like you aren't there sometimes but then there are times where they go side by side with you.
Can't wait to play more.
Bit disappointed there's no FD cars there. They were listed in the carlist pre-launch so now I have to fanny about for hours before I can tune anything for drifting.
@@thesprawl2361 I fucked around and had over 600k all I did was clear the tutorial career thingy and then hotlapped on spa a bit. Cars are also not ultra expensive. Got the MP4/4 as soon as I saw it haha 😂🫡
Edit:
Sorry I was stupid, I forgot you had to level the cars. Yeah that's kinda meh tbh
@@basti329how’s the FFB compared to Horizon 5 and FM7. I felt like Forza takes have mid tier ffb
How did you get it so early? Live in the east and own on microsoft store as opposed to steam I guess?
@@Stallzyxbuy premium upgrade and you can play right now
14:12. OMG! I've never seen that layout at Laguna Seca before! Man I wish I could afford more than Real Racing 3! I wish we had those cafes in America where you can just go and play, I'd be stoked with just that. Thanks for the videos! Someday I'll get to try one of these amazing sims.
Biggest question I have. Do you think that FM offers a solid opportunity to have a competitive class specific league?
I'm hoping the car xp doesn’t ruin that type of event because of the amount of time it takes to level a car to unlock all the upgrades. Otherwise, the racing seems good so I would think aside from leveling a car it would work well. Haven't played the game yet though, so grain of salt.
@@Vo1kfangso just race the cars stock and not tuned. After all racing is about the driver skill.
@SylasG Skill matters. And so does setting your car up in a way that helps your driving style. Even simple things like tuning the gearing ratios to your liking are locked behind the car xp.
honestly, im just happy theres a new racing game that gives us stuff to do inbetween races. i love sim racing but sometimes just non-stop racing in public servers or leagues gets boring.
I especially love that I can drive modern cars like the G82 M4 or the GR86. I've been playing mostly older racing games and it's getting old and repetitive. I mean yeah I love me a nice Skyline or older Hondas and BMWs but I wanna drive something new and fresh as well
Great detailed, honest review.
It would be nice if Gran Turismo came to Pc and featured cross play, I fear its too much of system seller though.
The fact that multi-player is capped at 60FPS on PC is ridiculous
@@e2rqey its a bit meh but I dont actually care in racing games. If it improves stability in multiplayer I am okay with it
@@deadkey it has nothing to do with stability. They are doing it for "fairness"
@@e2rqey That's a weird restriction, higher framerates aren't all that beneficial for racing games unlike fps games. There's probably some physics anomalies tied to the framerate.
It's nice to meet you in multiplayer mate, ggs! 🤝
nailed it .thank you for a superbly put together piece.
Does FM begin to compete with the realism of ACC or iRacing ? In max setting could this be considered a real sim? Or simcade still thnx
fm has always been a simcade game. This one looks way more sim leaning than previous generations though. But still not on the same level as ACC or imaging. What fm does better than those 2 is graphics from launch. don't need mods to make the game look good
I feel like they could've done so much better considering the junp from 2017 to 2023

Can't wait to lunge... I mean dive in! Looking forward to more Motorsport content!
I got to race my project car , a g35 coupe its a tually fun drive
1:50 you can skip practice. It’s in the pause menu. Many have complained about this, and while they’re all wrong, I think it’s on Forza for having a rubbish menu and not making it an obvious option. Skip practice should be the first button in the pause menu.
hello steve
viewer here
i hate the upgrade system that’s it👍
1:58 you can actually skip the practice. If you pause and press exit it gives you an option to skip the practice laps entirely
No one asked me to to do it. If I didn't want to play it, I wouldn't.
@@Super_GT ohh ok. Sorry about that bro. Thanks for your review, love your Gran turismo stuff bro. Hey. I almost got scammed once here in your channel LOL. I was contacted by someone with the same name as you, told me I won a few things, ps5 and a laptop and some other things, he asked me to send him a video of myself telling him why I was happy to win those things, LOL I made a fool of myself making that video but good thing I realized that It was all a scam. Anyways sorry about thinking that xbox asked u to review the game. And congrats with your success, love your stuff.
@@funhouse1077i kind of agree and after wathing all reviews i dont see fm wipe the floor with gt7 like some claimed, i cant even buy it so,i Will just stick with gt7,
Playing as your talking, got it on game pass then bought the premium upgrade for £26.99. Will finish listening before I got to bed. So thanks for the video, keep up the good work
From what I've played so far, the game feels really good on controller.
This is one of the things that I am a little meh about.
@@Elwaves2925 Having to drive the car to get upgrades is fine. I think that would be a pretty good way of doing things. The only problem is having upgrades locked behind levels.
Different cars need different things, so it just didn't make any sense to lock things behind levels.
@@atticushexcel9567 Complaining about a person's method of playing videogames... what a joke
For me it is 2.6/10.
When doing practise laps you can pause and go to exit to get the option to skip the laps, but you wont get car exp
How many Wheel Support on Xbox and / or PC? Lights and Display? vibration from the Wheel?
Really good review Steve. It seems like a lot of the things that they are lacking on can be easily improved with some quality of life updates down the line. Seems like some fine tuning on a few things will help keep this game alive for a few years until the next installment.
Honestly, this is the review I trust most out of all the reviews on TH-cam
Well of course it is.
It'll be interesting to see how the multiplayer is, whether we actually end up with good competitive racing or whether it'll be Wreckfest 2
is the Nürburgring not in the game yet :O
I’m basically doing the exact same progression on my 370z in game.
the car leveling is one of the main reasons im not getting this game, it just feels like extra unnecessary grind
@@JonnyTF2 you’re missing out.
I’m wondering the same.
Yes!! Hardly any reviews even mention GT7 but I want to know how forza stacks up
Gt7 leans more to sim
This drives slightly more "sim" than FH5.
Notice how the GT3band LPM cars were sliding all over the place?
Very VERY unrealistic
@iluvmyoosik dawg what are you talking about???? What GT3 car is sliding at 200km+ and youre still maintaning control of the slide???😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@PWRex Good idea. Thx
13:38 I did the same thing on that same exact race lol
Looks like there’s a good base game, and new content and tweaks can make it a success. Some of the changes are bigger than they seem, well done to the team and good luck in making it successful. You need big balls to compete with gt7, this is going in the right direction.
I only came for the honest part of the review. It's good you told us in the title that the whole revieiw is honest so I can watch it all. 👍
This game has absolutely no soul at all
Looks horrible too
The boost lag I feel like is more realistic in this game finally. So far at least. Great review! See you on the road!
I never knew there were people big on replays, that’s some dedication right there
Replays basically havn't evolved at all. There's so much potential but no development as far as I can see.
I don't think i ever even touched a replay in a game besides clipping a funny crash.
comments saying they never knew ppl watched replays and here I am thinking I am the only one that watches em... something about viewing the race from a broadcast perspective and seeing how you perform is just as fun as the race to me..
@@roolathumb9961 Hey man kudos to you for enjoying a game your own way.
I just wish you can customise cars like gt7
Cry more baby
I love the multiplayer, got straight into S rating, waited a few days for the rammers to lose their rating, got into it and haven't encountered any rammers, its just been fast, fun clean racing.
So, all your other reviews have been dishonest then? I'm so disappointed...
I'll release my dishonest one later
