Free FIXED Written Pattern is up on my Blog for those having trouble with this tutorial.
I have finally realized why so many people are having problems with this pattern after a sweet subscriber reached out to me and it has to do with how I wrote row 4! How row 4 SHOULD have been written out is…
Row 4: *2 Sc in the same st, sc 2, *rep until the end of the round. .
Sorry for the mess up, I am only human and prone to making mistake. Have a lovely day!

    • @saaniaz
      @saaniaz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +67

@@sassaflower3322 The first round is 6 stitches. In the second round, we put two sc in each stitch, making it 12. In the third round, we put two sc in every other stitch, making it 18. In the fourth round, we put two sc in every third stitch, making it 24. Does that clarify it for you?

This is an amazing pattern and tutorial! I've already made MANY coasters - just in time for spring! That said, as a beginner, I'm used to a different type of written pattern and, if I'm correct, noticed that slip stitches are not included in the final stitch count. This threw me a little because I kept thinking I had the pattern wrong. I rewrote the pattern below to help anyone like me who was struggling! Hope it helps!
(Note: the "x6, x5" implies repeating this stitch pattern until the end of the round, which will be five or six times depending on the round. "Inc" is an increase stitch, which involves placing two single crochets into the same stitch.)
Foundation: Create a magic ring and ch 1.
Rnd 1: 6 sc into magic ring.
    Rnd 2: Inc x 6.
    Rnd 3: Sc, inc x 6.
    Rnd 4: Inc, 2 sc x 6.
Rnd 5: 3 sc, inc x 6, sl st into the first st of the round.
Rnd 6: Ch 1 with new color, 30 hdc, sl st into first st of round.
Rnd 7: Ch 1, sl st into that same st, (sc, hdc, 5 dc in same st, hdc, sc, sl st) x 5, sl st into first st of round.
Rnd 8: Ch 1, sl st into that same st, (sc, hdc 3, 3 hdc in same st, hdc 3, sc, sl st) x 5, sl st into first st of round.
Rnd 9: Ch 1, sl into that same st, (2 sc, hdc, 2 hdc in same st, hdc, 2 hdc in same st, hdc, 2 hdc in same st, hdc, sc 2, sl st) x 5, sl st into first st of the round.
Fasten off & weave in ends.

It took a lot of trial and error to make the final product, but once you get there, it looks great! Some things I learned:
*sl st don't count towards the final sts count
*she doesn't place her stitch marker in the same place in round 5 so be careful (it is placed one stitch farther back than how it is for other rounds). The best way to get this count right is counting all 30 sts total and then proceeding to do the sl st
*Decreasing the video speed helps to see which stitch she is working on and where to place the sl st

heyy i’ve done this a couple times and the only time they’ve come out looking okay was when i had to adjust it on my own. the transitions between round 7 8 and 9 are a little confusing because when i follow the written pattern exactly i feel like it gives me an extra stitch that’s slightly off the rest of the petals. and then when i look closely to watch you slip stitch i can’t clearly see which stitch you’re doing the slip stitch in :// i guess i just wish i could also see you crochet the whole round sped up or something so i can make sure i’m doing it right before i have to unravel my round once i see it’s off.

To those who don’t understand Row 7:
    1. Chain 1
    2. Slip st in that same stitch (I would put a marker here to denote start of round to make life easier)
    3. SC in next stitch
    4. Then HDC in the next
    5. Then 5 double crochets in the next stitch. There should be 5 in that one stitch.
    6. HDC in next
    7. Then SC in the next
    8. Then Slip stitch.
Repeat steps 3 to 8 going around then slip stitch into the first stitch (where you placed a marker).
    Hope this helps!

For others sake here is the written out pattern,

    2: 6 inc (2sc in each st) [12]
3: (sc, inc) or (sc, 2sc in each st) [18]

    round 4: [2sc, inc]x6
    round 5: [3sc, inc]x6 , slst into 1st stitch of the round
    - colour change (ch 1)
round 6: 30hdc slst into 1st stitch of the round
round 7: ch 1 + slst into same stitch , [sc, hdc, 5dc into same stitch, hdc, sc, slst]x5
, slst into first stitch of the round.
    round 8: ch 1 + slst into same stitch , [sc, 3hdc, 3hdc in same stitch, 3hdc, sc, slst)x5
, slst into first stitch of the round
    round 9: ch 1 + slst into same stitch , [2sc, hdc, [2hdc in same stitch, hdc]x3 , 2sc, slst) x 5
, slst into first stitch of the round
    - Finished!

i've made this twice now and they look great, they're laying flat, they look correct but something feels off where each round begins and ends and i think i'm doing something wrong, the whole slip stich into the first stitch and then chain one and then slip stitch again into the same stich confuses me, the whole is so small there that i can barely get my hook in and it feels a bit like a knot, i think i'm doing something wrong at that part but i don't know what i'm doing wrong, what is the purpose of chaining one and then slip stitching back into the same stich? am i slip stitching back into the stich i just chained or the one before that that i slip stitched into? it's just tight and bulky at the beginning/end of each round, am i doing it right?

I have a question :/ The first petal ends with a slip stitch but how do you start the next one? Do you chain 1 from the slip that you end on and slip stitch again on the same stitch? or what i'm confused. Please help it looks weird

    • @gretajurkute1139
      @gretajurkute1139 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Here's what I did: after the slip stitch just start the pattern again with single crochet in the next stitch and so on. I think the chain 1 is only for the end of the round, not for each petal. :)

Hii !! I've a question. in round 4 you started using the last stitch of round 3, is it right? Then, you put those 2 sc (increase) in that same stitch, but then you put the clip 2 sts back, can that be a problem? Because when you count the stitches in round 3 you have 17 (when you use that stitch (for the 3rd round) you have 18!!)
I have a theory: that last stitch (with the clip) of round 3 it's use like the end of round 3 and the start of round 4 !! Is that correct?
I hope you understand my english !! muah !! ♡
↓ I left another question down below !!

    • @nonoherbon
      @nonoherbon 3 ปีที่แล้ว

The other question is for round 4: did u start with 2 sc, in the last stitch of round 3, and then a *sc, 2sc, sc, 2sc* and repeating?
This question is based on my theory !! Hahahha, i hope you understand what am i talking about !!
      Have a nice day !! ♡
