First of all special forces is this bands best album in my humble opinion and I personally think don Barnes is just a marvelous talent and is supremely underrated as a vocalist these boys rock no matter what era
Back in the mid 1980s my older brother told me that there was a .38 Special video that was sort of a 'sequel' or 'the morning after' follow-up to the 'Caught Up In You' video, with the same hot blonde and everything. I was a hardcore MTV viewer at the time and I was like "Dude, you must have been in a drunken stupor or something, no such video exists!" He was correct all along! LOL :-D
Yes. I'm surprised not more people picked up on this. I just realized this is the sequel to Caught up in you. Same girl but I think the guy is a different.
In all the years of watching MTV vids in the 80's, I never saw this one! My only question is: was the guy at the bar who was drinking just a passenger on the bus or, the bus driver?? Cuz, man, I wouldn't want him as the driver! lol
South all the way. Eden. North Carolina hugs Connie. Still getting there. Houston Rain and Clinton ? I'm searching..... Charlana Marie Irving. Florida. Phone number for me is available. To follow.
Love this song! I haven't heard it for years. I completely forgot they sang this song. Music to my ears! Those were the best days! I lived in Jax.Florida and they were from that same area and also Lynerd Skynerd. In fact a few of the guys from Skynerd actually started playing for 38 Special. And also Molly Hatchet were from Jax. also. Good times and good music!
Wasn't aware there was a video.. so cool! This band has so much good shit. I was born when all thier best stuff was coming out, sure would be cool to catch them before they're gone ...
Thank you so much for all that. Good morning to 38 special. We all love you so much. Thank God for all the inspiration you have given me. Been there with ya for almost 30 years. Not goodbye ever.
At about 1:13 we hear a guitar intro. It almost sounds like the opening intro to Rick Springfield's "Jesse's Girl" right before he starts to sing "Jesse is a friend, yeah, he's been a good friend of mine."
Grew up in my youth I was to goung but loved their music so now I'm going to see 38 Special In Concert me & my son who's 16 years old wants to see * hear them too cuz I would play them he liked hearing them too do were going to see our memories of great music I know we will have a blast at Billy Bob Tx next Fiday
THANKS for posting Batman.....Does it SERIOUSLY get any better than this.....Babe in her Underwear........38 Special........Ronnie's Brother.......Lynyrd Skynyrd........Southern Rock.....The Outlaws......Larry Jurgsten......The Drive-By Truckers.....The Southern Rock Opera......I REST MY FUCKING CASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU POSTER!!!!!!!!!!Southern Rock 0:30
I hear your high-heels clickin' down the boulevard You got your suitcase in hand, guess you're takin' it hard You swear you'll never trust another man Ah, but I know that you will, it's just a question of when So open up your eyes to the light You've been far too alone for too many nights, oh Someday, someway, somewhere, love is gonna find you Somehow, someone is gonna beg you to stay But you keep on runnin', you keep runnin' You keep on runnin' away I hear it whispered in the neighborhood At one time you were the best, it was just understood Then someone came and took you for a fool The word is out on the street that love is looking for you So open up your eyes to the light You've been far too alone for too many nights, oh Someday, someway, somewhere, love is gonna find you Somehow, somewhere, don't look now, I'm comin' up behind you But you keep on runnin', you keep runnin' You keep on runnin' away So don't be fooled, you got me comin' I ain't no fool, you keep me runnin' And I don't know why No, I don't know why So open up, don't be afraid, baby Is there someone standin' in our way Won't you tell me why Don't you tell me goodbye, oh Someday, someway, somewhere, love is gonna find you Somehow, someone is gonna beg you to stay, baby Somehow, somewhere, don't look now, I'm comin' up behind you But you keep runnin', you keep runnin' You keep on runnin' away But you keep on runnin', you keep runnin' You keep on runnin' away But you keep on runnin', you keep runnin' You keep on runnin' away But you keep on runnin', you keep runnin' away But you keep on runnin', you keep runnin' away But you keep on runnin', you keep runnin' away But you keep on runnin', you keep runnin' away
I could only take about 20 seconds of this, To me it sounds like Survivor, I prefer their older stuff, If I can't have that, I guess the only thing I can do is turn off the volume and admire the beauty of the perfect female specimen, It doesn't get any better than Sheri Shattuck, My Lord she is stunning! Been almost 40 years and honestly, nobody comes remotely close......
They were more like Southern Rock! Alot of Lynerd Skynerd sounds in 38 Special- Jacksonville, Florida hometown. In fact I like 38 Special even more than LS!! I liked alot of LS songs but I wasn't a super fan! More of a Super fan of 38 Special! LS was big a little before my time but 38 Special was right there when I was in High School and after.I gaduated from High School in Jax.Florida!!
I don't know if they actually used two drummers at the same time when they cut the track for the album, but here in this video they are using two drummers, not just one. I'm not sure why it requires two drummers? does one guy only play the snare and high hat, and the other guy is just playing other stuff? or are they both playing exactly the same thing? thnak you
+TheDailyDecibel ----one of the drummers become a minister i don't know which one or if the other drummer is still with them. but only 1 drummer now. and donnie van zant retired due to loss of hearing
but my question is, "Why did they need to use two different drummers at the same time?" I'm not trying to play favorism toward anyone, I'm only asking why they needed two differetn drummers at the same time.
+TheDailyDecibel I wish I had an answer for you. I do remember(vaguely) DVZ being interviewed about it years ago and the only part I remember was that he was glad to revert back to one drummer because it was easier and cheaper when touring.
I was growing up in the 80s and this song wasn't that big.back in the 80s 38 Special was music for people who didnt take music seriously. Not match for Allman Brothers. Black Crows in the 90s were also much more real for Soutjern Rock.
theedrstrangelove I know "Caught Up In You" is in Spring Break but I have never heard that this song is. Do you know what part of the movie has this song? I have the movie and don't want to watch the entire thing for a song snippet. Thanks.
I always thought this was 38 Specials best song. Special Forces was a terrific album!

Is .38 Special the most underrated group in the history of pop/rock?
Yep.
Definitely right near the top - they make this shit sound so effortless and natural.
THEY'RE THE BEST-PERIOD!!!!!!!!
Yep.
38 Special > Lynyrd Skynyrd
Love this song! I haven't heard it for years. I completely forgot they sang this song. Music to my ears! Those were the best days! This song proved 4 decades ago that no one can run away!
I love this song - Thanks for posting!
single version entered Billboard Aug 21, 1982 ..reached #38
This video and “So Caught Up In You” were filmed together then separated for the singles to shown on this fledgling television channel: MTV.
At about 1:13 we hear a guitar intro. It almost sounds like the opening intro to Rick Springfield's "Jesse's Girl" right before he starts to sing "Jesse is a friend, yeah, he's been a good friend of mine."

It was a top US 40 hit also
Thank You!
Good band
Bud Light which they are drinking in the video was new in 1982 and called Budweiser, not Bud, Light.
Best band ever❤️❤️❤️
I hear your high-heels clickin' down the boulevard
You got your suitcase in hand, guess you're takin' it hard
You swear you'll never trust another man
Ah, but I know that you will, it's just a question of when
So open up your eyes to the light
You've been far too alone for too many nights, oh
Someday, someway, somewhere, love is gonna find you
Somehow, someone is gonna beg you to stay
But you keep on runnin', you keep runnin'
You keep on runnin' away
I hear it whispered in the neighborhood
At one time you were the best, it was just understood
Then someone came and took you for a fool
The word is out on the street that love is looking for you
So open up your eyes to the light
You've been far too alone for too many nights, oh
Someday, someway, somewhere, love is gonna find you
Somehow, somewhere, don't look now, I'm comin' up behind you
But you keep on runnin', you keep runnin'
You keep on runnin' away
So don't be fooled, you got me comin'
I ain't no fool, you keep me runnin'
And I don't know why
No, I don't know why
So open up, don't be afraid, baby
Is there someone standin' in our way
Won't you tell me why
Don't you tell me goodbye, oh
Someday, someway, somewhere, love is gonna find you
Somehow, someone is gonna beg you to stay, baby
Somehow, somewhere, don't look now, I'm comin' up behind you
But you keep runnin', you keep runnin'
You keep on runnin' away
But you keep on runnin', you keep runnin'
You keep on runnin' away
But you keep on runnin', you keep runnin'
You keep on runnin' away
But you keep on runnin', you keep runnin' away
But you keep on runnin', you keep runnin' away
But you keep on runnin', you keep runnin' away
But you keep on runnin', you keep runnin' away
This one was up before but some bonehead took it down! Thanks for putting this up! GREAT SONG!!!
I saw this video with'" Caught up in you" playing first then this video seemed to be attached to it . Same girl and guy in the video. Sometime in 1982

This is one of the only acts (if not the only one) that has two different drummers, on a regular basis.
Pretty much just how I imagined this being, never seeing it before. The girl is a FOX! She the same one in "Caught Up In You"?
Yes she is, they even used the same kind of bar scene .
Thank you.
You said "Fox." hahaha
Donnie is the best vocalist of the van zants!
Hellofasong! Only 1.5K LIKES - 4-10-2022? WTF?
I guess there were a lot of broken vhs
tapes back in the day, broken before the song starts..

Don Barnes❤❤❤
I think this is the same chic from the 'Caught Up In You' video...
Being the video STARTS with "Caught Up In You" playing on the TV,it's safe to say this is the continuation!
It is, her name is Shari Shattuck
Who's here in 2024
The fade out for this song is one of the best ever. Right up there with Boston's "More Than A Feeling."
Usually when anyone makes any kind of comparison to Boston I immediately correct them. In this rare instance I must say I agree 100%.
Gonna listen tp Boston now. Totally forgot about them. I had greatest hits CD in the last 80's wait actually CT cassette tape
Great outro for sure

Whenever someone badmouths '80s music I just shake my head at their ignorance and deafness.
Wow that scared me, thought the cassette player she held to her head at the beginning was a gun :-(
Yes
Who's playing the guitar solo for .38 Special?
Jeff Carlisi was the lead guitar.
dude, that drummer with the curly hair he's got a free-wheelin' look about him. funny. :) he seems like he want to bang his head
+TheDailyDecibel oh, i meant the curly haired guy at 5:11, 5:12 .
+TheDailyDecibel oh, i mean 1:24, 1:25 that blonde dude with the curly hair, he seems like a total free-wheelin' guy
+TheDailyDecibel ----one of the drummers become a minister i don't know which one or if the other drummer is still with them. but only 1 drummer now. and donnie van zant retired due to loss of hearing

He resembles Artimus Pyle somewhat. I know it's not him but reminds me of him back in the early Skynyrd days.
I. Lived then
Thank u

I had forgotten that Shari Shattuck was in this video too.
but my question is, "Why did they need to use two different drummers at the same time?" I'm not trying to play favorism toward anyone, I'm only asking why they needed two differetn drummers at the same time.

i guess it adds a different sound. lots of bands used 2 drummers. the Allman bros and Cdb did as well as a bunch if r&b music did.
Who's the gal ?
I was growing up in the 80s and this song wasn't that big.back in the 80s 38 Special was music for people who didnt take music seriously. Not match for Allman Brothers. Black Crows in the 90s were also much more real for Soutjern Rock.

theedrstrangelove I know "Caught Up In You" is in Spring Break but I have never heard that this song is. Do you know what part of the movie has this song? I have the movie and don't want to watch the entire thing for a song snippet. Thanks.
I'm pretty sure I remember it from Spring Break.

What was the zant boys doing this sounds nothing like southern rock or his singing
I just noticed here that they are using two drummers. Why two drummers? Isn't that unusual?
+TheDailyDecibel Yes it is unusual. They stopped using two drummers a long time ago.
+TheDailyDecibel Some southern bands used two drummers. Allman Brothers, Charlie Daniels come to mind
