    I found that if sink those bed rail brackets 1/32 - 1/16" you get a sturdier fit than if you mount them flush. But man, what a gorgeous design, I prefer the natural over the black but, both a beauties!!

      Thanks for your input! This was my first time using the brackets so I was figuring it out as I go. Sinking them in makes sense that it would pull the joint tighter 👍🏻

      @@mmcc_woodshop6288 You're welcome, it is a beautiful bed, much nicer than anything I can build.

      Thanks! I love the natural color of oak as well. I’m always on the fence about deciding colors 😆

    Hi Matt,
    After a year, how do the not glued loose dowel joints behave? Would you make any changes? Thank you!

    • @mmcc_woodshop6288
      @mmcc_woodshop6288  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They’ve worked perfectly. All the panels have contracted/moved very slightly (maybe 1/4”ish), and there are no cracks anywhere within the panels or frame. Everything is still pinned tightly and nothing has come loose 👍🏻

    Wonderful work and video - will follow the growth of your channel with extreme interest. I'm curious - how many hours in total did the bed take to make?

      Thanks! I didn’t keep track but I would estimate between 20-25ish hrs.

    How tight is the hardware? Do those metal cleats pull the joint tight?

    • @mmcc_woodshop6288
      @mmcc_woodshop6288  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The hardware needs to be as tight as possible when it’s attached. As long as they line up properly it’s incredibly sturdy. Anyway downward pressure/weight will only make the joint more secure 👍🏻
