I don’t own this scene from the movie.
The Toa have brought the Matoran spheres to a new island they called Mata Nui. There the Toa sacrifice their power to awaken the Matoran and turned them into Turaga.

This hits harder when you watch the movies in order, after everything he's gone through, vakama not only remembered his mission and his friends, he remembered lhikan and how he lived and died as a hero, Vakama decided that Lhikan's sacrifice wouldn't be in vain, after falling to his inner demons Vakama did want to protect the matoran, he sometimes didn't know what to do, too shy to act and yet sometimes too arrogant to think before acting, but this time he not only knew what he had to do, he had the will and when he became a turaga he did it with no regret.
Speaking of that, it hits harder when you remember he had to see that mask's user sacrifice himself again.
@@TheAutobotPowerAnd it hits even more harder when you realize with Toa becoming Turaga, Makuta's shadow could without a problem spread terror and destruction to Matoran to break them for 1000 years. Only their leaders and their prophecies were their rock to not submit themselves to the one who himself once had sworn to protect them, now only wishing to control them.
Their sacrifice of power was noble and right, but unfortunately a lesser of evils as well, instead of leaving Matoran inside their prisons to protect them as Toa, but denying their freedom in process.
They sacrificed their being for the heart of Metru Nui.
Legends.
At the same time I feel bad for each of them. Mainly Nokama is reluctant to give us her youth as well as feel uncomfortable on keeping secrets from the Toa Mata if you have learned of the Bionicle lore from children’s books or comics.

An unrelenting action as impactful as it was short and seamless.
He knew what to do and what they had to do as a group, and he made it happen.

And so Jaller inherited the legacy of a might Toa, later becoming one himself.
The sad thing is i learn that Jaller had to replace lihkan mask with a new mask because the new mask has to be required to become a toa and be in a capsule and zap by lightning bolt. Despite jaller resisting to swapped out his mask, he had no choice

I can imagine that Onu-Matoran at 1:03 later being like;
"Guys, I think Turaga Whenua must've been a Toa once! Remember when we woke up on that beach without any memory from before?"
"You've been getting hit a lot in the head playing Kohlii again, weren't ya pal?"
The Matoran who saw Whenua becoming Toa into Turaga was Aiyetoro from the Mata Nui Online Game and it’s sequel. So yeah, Aiyetoro literally saw a new beginning happening in his new life on Mata Nui.

1:24 not gonna lie, every time I hear the Matoran theme, that piano play, oh it just melts my heart and makes me cry a little bit.
It hits hard doesn't it? Back then I only had Hewkii Inika and one of the Visorak I think. I didn't know much about Bionicle, but as a kid I enjoyed it a lot. Never seen the movies then, maybe The Legend Reborn. But from 2/3 years ago I've learnt so much about Bionicle which blew my mind and watched all the movies now. Bionicle has a special place in my heart and just like this theme, I feel the same way.
The riff of Likhan’s theme when his mask was given to Jala was the cherry on top

That’s what made the matoran so precious to mata nui especially. They were eternally childlike and innocent. They were his heart.
What’s interesting is that Takua is in fact older than Vakama😅 Being the first matoran ever created, Takua is older than all of the toa metru/turaga 😅
As a kid this was mind blowing to discover this was a prequel. I think this Solidifited My interest in bionice back then... next to matanui online
This ending shows why it is important to respect your elders.
Every generation prior to yours worked hard to make our lives as Matoran children a safe place, and in time we will do the same for every generation after us.
Also, the Toa changing to Turaga is what it will feel like when you hit the next decade of your life, or when you reach retirement age.
Honestly it's kind of the opposite, but in a good way, along with the rest of the movie. It's the importance of taking care of future generations, and to lose sight of that, means losing the future itself
I think it was very respectful and selfless for Vakama and his comrades to do that, giving up their power as true heroes just like that.😃😃😃👍

I was always confused as a kid why they were Toa again in the third one if this ending connected with the first one, but now I understand that this scene is after the ending of Web of Shadows.

I was 10, when this movie came out. I used to think Vakama was a wuss. Not worthy of being a bad ass Toa of Fire like Tahu and Lhikan. Fast Forward 21 years, watching this movie with my little girl, she is just so enamored of how heroic Vakama actually was. She actually liked him more than Tahu lol but in my age and maturity, I’ve realized that being a hero is so much more than being tough and powerful. Tahu may be stronger than Vakama, but he would definitely hesitate giving up his powers to save the matoran, Vakama didn’t.

Would that we had leaders in our world who would willingly give up their power for the good of others. It's a cruel irony is that the ones who SHOULD lead us are the people who have no love for power and the ones who should NEVER lead seize power for themselves.
Great scene, such a noble sacrifice. I really wish we saw other masks like the Miru amongst the Matoran.
It's a shame we didn't get to see Turaga Whenua and Nuju in better detail. All of the Turaga were in Mask of Life, but we only really saw Vakama, Nokama, and Onewa in that movie, and you only get a brief look at Turaga Matau in this scene.
What’s sad is that the toa metru got to be toa for only about a year 😢
Nah they were toa for a lot longer, the search for the greats disks took over a year and they spent at least that amount of time as hordika in the 3rd movie. It was still another year or two getting everything ready on mata nui for the matoran before they woke them up as well.

@@emperorclaudius5499if I remember, the great disk each toa retrieve we’re supposed to be the mask of time combined before Vahkama combined and crafted the mask.
@@emperorclaudius5499 Not to mention Vakama's run-in with Makuta, and The Shadowed One, as well, to retrieve the Vahi mask.
Metru nui legends never dies!!!
Once you rewatch this as an adult. You can notice more of the little details you missed as a kid, like the music during the moment in which Vakama took Lhikan's mask and so his theme played.
To then become the music theme of the Island.
Ending it all epicly.
Such an awesome prequel.
I kinda wish we got movies based on the 2001 and 2002 storylines.
It would have been cool to see CGI versions of the Toa Mata.
I wanted the toa inika, but the toa mata being easily defeated was not something the fans liked, and the karzhani arc was kind of dark

It must’ve been tough, sacrificing their powers to wake the Matoran up. But their duty is to the Heart of Metru Nui - the Matoran.
They would gladly give up their powers and become Turaga - just as how Toa Lhikan sacrificed his power to create the Toa Metru.

She still does have some power in her Noble Rau, which she used to translate the writing inside the Mask of Light.

I used to own Bionicle Legends of metru nui a long time ago you know I wish I can go back to that time all over again when I was looking at Bionicle and everything else this is a good ending in one most best endings of all in Lego 😉✌️
