He is pricing that thing like he does not want too sell it. And honestly,.. that kind of money commands perfection in every single category. Driftwood guitars are close to perfection in terms of fit & finish, details, and materials. However,...I have heard a couple of his guitars that DO NOT meet the criteria of sound. It had better be an absolute cannon for 15k. I mean we are talking about a house down payment. Or a years worth of tuition. Or a used low miles 2015 Escalade for heavens sake.lol. 😁Sorry. Scratch that last one.😆 But no really. it's really hard to command that kind of scratcholla with a guitar with any imperfections. It's a beautiful guitar for sure. Just definitely NOT 15k nice. At least for me anyway.

Steve is a fine man. I met him several years ago, and haven't forgot a D-18 he had then. It was great. There is a market for guitars that are "different", but it is a smaller market. I hope he keeps making guitars, because he is good at it.

Jeremy your words are so kind and so fair to the luthier and to us for explaining to your community and to passers by for the explanation why this guitar doesn't hit the mark for a $15,000 guitar and they are definitely minute details but they are details that other multi branded companies would not miss on a $15,000 guitar because it's their business name and reputation at stake for future sales and profits I really embrace your sincere HONESTy💯💯💯 thanks Jeremy for all your content 💯💯💯💯🤯🤯🤯🤯💥💥💥💥

What can you say about a guitar with that kind of a price tag? It's a relative thing. If you can afford it and it inspires you go for it. Personally, that's a bit much considering you can be very happy grooving on a guitar worth half that - or a 10th of that. That said, I played a Bosendorfer grand many years ago at a retailer in Natick Mass - list price 130000.00. It was a religious moment. Literally angels flying out of this thing when I played it. I told the salesman that if I had that kind of money I would buy that one, order a second, and donate it to someone because an instrument that special MUST be in the world being played. I left with a T shirt. lol

I could jump on the bandwagon complaining about the price. But at this point in my life I've just recently gotten to the 700-1000 range guitars. If I had more money than I knew what to do with I'd probably get this. It's a beautiful guitar and I love the sound. Really love the sound.

Hi Jeremy, just love your channel, I have a 2019 D45 from an official dealer here in Kuala Lumpur, a 25 years old Gibson SJ200 Vine from London and a Gibson Lucille. I relocated to Kuala Lumpur from London, recently I have problem with my hearing and no longer enjoy playing my beloved guitars. The market here in Asia for guitar is not too good so I wonder if you could point me to the right direction where I could sell my guitars in the US? Thank you.

Gorgeous work and lovely warm balanced tone coming out of that guitar. The guitar definitely hits on an emotional level. I have a problem with the bracing being finished to match the top so it appears as carved pumpkin fangs in a frowning mouth which distracts from the live edge sound hole. (Try to unsee that now that I pointed it out) I'd recommend reverse scalloping the visible bracing and then staining it ebony with satin finish in order to diminish their visual impact. It's not too late to make that change... Thanks for pointing out the QC problems. Those are all things that Showalter could easily fix in order to make that guitar worth the $15,000 asking price before placing the guitar back on the market. As long as we're aiming for perfection, the lower soundhole book-match has a slight offset between the two sides. That should be filed and carved for a clean transition then re-stained and finished. Since I'm on a roll, replace the chrome Waverly tuners with gold ones that have tortoise knobs to match the color of the top.

We’ve been in the age of -The new Renaissance of independent Acoustic Guitar/luthiers for 15+ years. Dream Guitars’ NC specializes in smaller Builders. The craftsmanship has reached levels not achieved 30+ years ago due to higher technology in tooling and the Information Age. That Walnut topped guitar sounds pretty good. Head to head comparison against the last 2 customs I crafted would be interesting. The Wovoka’ guitar sports 50 year old seasoned Honduran Mahogany with 25 year old seasoned Adirondack top/Rosewood bindings and 50+ year old Jet Black Ebony FB/Bridge. The other Washakie’ guitar sports-50 year old seasoned Indian RW /25 year old seasoned Engleman’ Spruce top/Flame maple bindings/50+ year old seasoned jet black Ebony FB/Bridge. Both are patterned somewhat along the lines of the late 30’s Gibson 14 fret Nick Lucas models. I’ve only crafted 6 guitars since 1989’. Sold the first couple to friends back about 91’. I won’t sell the last 2 that I crafted in 2018/19’. -15 grand is a big sum for Custom Acoustic, but there’s makers asking 25 grand+ these days.

I agree with you 100%. I don't understand where these luthier's are coming up with these prices I know they are magnificent pieces of art but I can go to my Amish sawmill right up my road and get a 6-in or 10 inch or 12 in or however thick you want the slab of mahogany the slab of oak or a slab of maple for right around give or take a hundred bucks they will cut the slab right off of the stump and I know it takes time but you have to build yourself up to a $15,000 worthy loose a year with all due respect I mean no disrespect because like I said it is a beautiful piece of art that does sound good but that's one hell of a down payment on a HOUSE 💥💥💥💥💯💯💯🤯🤯🤯🤯

Sick! This is an all out fingerstyle guitar,, i want to hear it in Dadgad! It's got that growl that I love about hand-built. I'm currently building a figured all mahogany that has live edge. Lol so funny this was my idea too! 🤣 but mine has a raised fretboard design so the top can vibrate at its fullest. Can't wait hear the end result. I agree at that price point I also noticed on the heel the binding was off center. We all make mistakes at first but that's still a killer guitar.

For 15k ur talking vintage pre-war Martin or Gibson territory, or Bourgeois w/Madagascar/Brazilian. Those would be worth 7-10k which imo are superior to this, I doubt he will get asking price, but its worth a try!lol

@@Felipe_de_Oliveirade what is your opinion is definitely not mine .And I guarantee there's no hand made guitars they still use the same tools a mass guitar are made with ,You don't have a clue to what your talking about.Taylor guitars are absolutely perfect and correct and they use a lot of high dollar woods also, Do what's best for you and I'll do the same.It sounds like your one who don't know what your talking about.
