NEW Kia EV6 UK review 2022: the best electric SUV you can actually afford

  • The EV6 has some serious competition from the likes of the Tesla Model Y and Audi Q4 e-tron, but Kia has managed to knock it out of the park with its new electric SUV.
Based on the same underpinnings as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the EV6 comes in either in either single or dual motor form. The single motor is slung over the rear axle (making it rear wheel drive!), though at 228hp it’s not exactly what you’d call sporty. It’ll go from 0-62mph in 7.3 seconds, but most EVs deliver most of their punch of the line so it should still feel pretty quick. Courtesy of a 77.4kWh battery, the EV6 can cover up to 328 miles on a single charge and supports up to 350kW charging thanks to its 800V architecture. While it might not beat its rivals in every area, at just over £40,000 it might be the best all-round package.

What a great car! For the £40k-£50k price bracket -- or even the GT-Line at circa. £43.9k! So much tech and by far the best looking EV on the market (in my opinion!)

@@camtait this car looks great, but I would rather buy tesla. This kia have heat pump as a option. Wireless charger is extra, the base model is expensive than a tesla model 3. Why should I buy it, only because it looks great? No, thanks.

@@gcr3990 Just cancelled my model Y order, after having driven the Ionic 5 and the EV6. Was totally amazed by the ride quality and comfort. At my age 50+ comfort counts and my experience with hard suspension cars are that they end up rattling everywhere after a couple of years. By the way, I think that ride quality will end up being a dealbreaker for Tesla, if they don't fix the ride quality.

It's a great package and could possibly be car of the year. My only gripe is that you can't option in smaller wheels for more comfort. 20in on bad roads could be an issue. Not a big enough boot to be a main family car for me but I'd love one as my daily driver.

I ordered the AWD because of trailering the boat every weekend during the summer and I want the security of having all wheel delivering traction to the possible slippery or steep ramp. Without that issue I probably would have stick with the two wheel option because we hardly get any snow in The Netherlands.
The Ioniq was no option because of the looks. And being the fastest charge out there made us go for the Kia, thanks to the future proof 800V infrastructure.

Good review - although 314 miles is the range for AWD with 19" wheels, the gt-s on 20's is 300. I have one on order (AWD GT-S in Yacht Blue) - by far the best package for me, once you spec anything else up to the same equipment they are pretty much all £10000 more or a lot slower and very few have anywhere near the charging speed of the EV6 which is a massive plus. I do have an issue with calling it an SUV though - it really isn't, it's a crossover at most and to me is more liked a raised estate car (albeit with a sloping rear) than anything else. Dimension wise it's the same width and length as my current BMW 3 series touring and only 10cm higher. The seating position is thankfully nothing like an SUV - it's not low, but you don't feel like you are really high up and it doesn't wallow around corners like an SUV.

2:43 unfortunately I see so many different ways that this vehicle's exterior lighting is setup. I'm currently writing out an inquiry to send to both Kia United Kingdom and Kia America on trying to get this part for a U.S. model. In some markets it seems this rear turn signal is _also_ a sequential piece. Is this not the case for the United Kingdom at any trim level? Because otherwise I will probably seek a different Kia branch where it IS sold that way... But if I had to settle for this, I'd also like this. Anything beats the integrated red turn signal built into the light bar that we in the USA got shafted with.
edit: I'd also like to know if the FRONT turn signals on this U.K. spec EV6 were sequential design as well, as those don't seem to have made a feature in this video review. Hope to hear back soon, Thanks!

67 to 74k for most rural homes?
Maybe in the early to mid 90s ..
      Not in 2021!
In 2001, I built a >2000 sq ft home in Lago Vista (outside of Austin, TX; NOT the country club area!) ..
That was 140k, while city homes were going from 180-200+k several miles down the road ..
And at that time, my fully loaded Ford Sport-Trac was had for 24k; that towed my 20' Sea Ray at 20k! Yeah, brand new truck and boat for less than 50k!
