      @@tigertoo01 Hardly a negative. For ICE vehicles, you have to have oil changes at 5k miles (or whatever is recommended) or risk voiding your engine warranty. It's actually pretty dumb if VW doesn't require servicing at certain use intervals.. (What if I drive 50k kms per year...first servicing after 100k? That make sense?)

    I also prefer the Enyaq over the id4 but prefer the EV6 to both. And for music lover like me the optional Meridian Sound system in EV6 is apparently very very good. In fact I view the EV6 as a cut price version of the Jaguar i-Pace with a better look, much faster charging capability (which is really a let down on the Jaguar) and the same Meridian sound system. The only advantage left to the Jaguar over all the overs is it’s off-road capabilities…which I really do not need but I could understand that for some people it could be an advantage

      Let's see if we will see this year the "model q or model 2" with a realistic range of 250 280 miles realistic range and new battery pack with a guarantee of 12 years or 250.000 miles and battery capacity 75 per cent after those miles! And we need a cheaper evs less than 25.000 pounds with 280 realistic miles even less even 20.000 pounds!!! And also we need real green energy and power and batteries recycling more than 95 per cent and able to be used for at least 3 or 4 more times,! Let's hope tesla or other companies are able to facilitate that in 2023 or 2024!!

    Over on Carwow, they did a max range test on a bunch of EVs. Not all had the same capacity battery, but the efficiencies made interesting reading - EV6 got 3.7m/kWh, but of the ID.4 clones the best was the Enyaq with 3.4, the Audi getting only 3.2. They reckoned the aero played a big part in their test, but noted that Kia use different battery management systems to Hyundai, (as well as being more slippery), which gave it a better efficiency result than the Ioniq 5
    Matt in the EV6 conked out just round the corner from my house in that video, which made it all the more interesting to watch!

      Until you drive it in the winter. Then the best charging EV will turn into the worst. Lithium polymer batteries are the worst for colder climates. This is not an issue he you can pre heat the battery while driving to the charging station. Which you cant in the EV 6. Only while charging the pre heating is available. That means before charging the ice cold battery has to be heated and then you can start charging.

      @@whynotstartusingyourbrain8726 First of all before testing the EV6 in December 2 weeks ago, i have driven a while back 2 models of full electric Kia : electric-Soul & e-Niro but all of them seem to have issues pre-heating in the winter, second it also depends of the optional features selected on the car because it can have some new optional features that are not available on all markets or on all versions unless are specifically ordered & pre-payed in advance from the dealer only then all optional features will be on the owner car, and 3rd most of the issues in this discussion are caused by the dreadfully unreliable and quirky Kia Connect/UVO App & system. They both (and even the dealer) seem to be heavily relying on information from the Kia app. I’ve used the UVO app for about a full year on previously mentioned Kia models. It is widely accepted to be totally unreliable. The cars are great but the apps very much less so. The Kia app is still very useful but you have to get to know it’s foibles and accept it frequently returns incorrect status. Repeated refreshes of the app will sometimes eventually correct the status reports but i didn't have lot's of time with the EV6 since is still too fresh just about released in Europe specially in my area.. Hopefully any of these issues will be sorted & gone with software up-dates as well as with the new types of batteries with Aluminum ion-cells and graphene +Na sulphure mixtures which ar last-longer between charges & charge faster.. But i guess we will see what is next.

    For me the Kia wins hands down. I like the looks of both cars but I think the faster charging ability, all be it on the few 350 kwh charge points and the better range and driving Dynamics is the clincher. I drive a Kia Nero 4+ and really like it but the EV6 is in another league. The other thing that still sticks in my mind is Dieselgate and the shameful behaviour of VW. Who cared little about the poisonous emissions there cars were illegally covering up.

      I agree, trust is important, I wouldn't be surprised to see battery longevity problems with the VW range. Battery Life has lost 10% battery capacity in only a year with his ID3. He blames it on DC fast charging but this is where battery quality and charging speed management comes into play. Cars that coldgate do so for a reason.

    I totally agree, if you like the technical quality and reliability of VW, but want a bigger and more practical version for less money, get a Skoda!
    It is VW parts on a brilliant Czech design - love it. Hope they will soon release some more electric alternatives than the Enyak.
    I have not been driving the ID4 but the dual drive EV6 and it really set the highest standard for what I have experienced and I have been driving some nice Audi and BMW, Volvo and Mercedes (yuck) and many others but KIAs EV6 left me simply speechless.
    I remember in 2005, a colleague of mine had a brand new KIA and it was a terribly cheap tin can, now more than 15 years later KIA and Hyundai give you the best bang for buck on a quality level. I wonder if German cars will ever catch up. It looks like they can only do extremely expensive and good or expensive and mediocre ... they don't seem to realize that many people can not afford or do not want to spend so much money on a vehicle that brings them from A to B, so the number of small and medium cars seems to wander off to KIA and Hyundai here in Germany and that is not a coincidence.
    Anyway the EV6 is pure fun, technology, security and perfection - silent, powerful, precise, efficient, modern ... If I'd be a car nerd without many other hobbies or if I had more income :-) , the EV6 would be a must have. Just ordered a cheap new Nero EV - a poor man's EV6 :-).

    The Kia EV6 takes Kia into uncharted territory. It is a remarkably good EV which needs to be compared to luxury marques like Audi & BMW, not the main VW brand. Way better value than a Tesla SUV equivalent too. With Tesla gradually opening up their charging infrastructure, Kia/Hyundai are a force to be reckoned with. The brand snobs will naturally laugh but who cares what they think?

    • @MovieViking
      @MovieViking 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree with most of your point and I was one of the now former snobs having made the switch from German or Czech made cars to a Hyundai EV. But Tesla is still way ahead of the competition on many parameters and especially when using their own infrastructure on long trips. Not until we see the Genesis GV60 will we have a competitor closing in on the sublime integration of the UI, the software and Tesla's ability to pre-condition the battery pack for highest possible charging speed in the minutes leading up to arriving at their charging point. The Ioniq5 and the EV6 both let the heat-pump for the cabin use heat from the battery pack but in cold weather this means "cold gating" and slow charging speeds regardless of the DC charger being a UFC 350kW or not. I hope they will issue an update that allows for the driver to let the battery become slightly hotter while driving - only slightly for many reasons not least that if it becomes too hot charging speed also drops.

    • @tigertoo01
      @tigertoo01 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The value proposition on a Tesla is an interesting one. The Tesla price reflects the demand for the vehicle more so than the equipment level. I agree the kia is most likely a really good car. But it's still not as good on the basic elements such as drive train efficiency or wind resistance which is still a downfall of the legacy auto industry. Then you have the issue of scaling up production which kia is not investing enough in.

      I agree and you have a rational point, but I will not ever again waste my money on anything with a VW badge on it. My own as well as several friends experiences from the last couple of years is filled with regrets as our/their VW/AUDI/SKODA cars have been left useless for months while waiting for someone i Germany figuring out how to swap some under-engineered part or realising that the software is still faulty or the update cannot be installed on the hardware-revision present in the car etc. has finally ended our 25 year-long irrational obsession with VAG. Even the official VW agency's own dealers are lying through their teeth and covering their incompetence. Even known faults documented in the erWIN system they refuse to fix - and this is not new, it also applied to my last ICE car. Several ID.3 cars have been bought back at huge losses to the owners. In one case with a "ID.3 MAX 1st" the loss was €9.000 after less than a year and just 7.000 km driven - the rest of the usual 30.000 km/year commute done in a diesel provided at a low lease, but not for free, by the dealer.

Design inside depends on viewpoint but it is ugly for me. Id4 can shutdown randomly and needs restart like it was Windows 95. Charging is unreliable and there is no easy way to unplug charging cable as it can lock if charging fails. Manual unlock requires visit to dealer afterwards.

VW are now the number one EV brand here, I don’t know how they did it, there are ID3 and ID4s everywhere, yet I could easily drive for a couple of days before seeing a Tesla. A huge amount of people don’t want flashy ultra-modern designs such as the gorgeous EV6 and the very nice Ionic 5, lots of buyers are very content with the IDs and even the very bland Skoda Enyaq. You’ve got the facts wrong on a number of points.
    With regenerative braking, it’s less efficient to engage on motorway or cruising roads away from urban stop start traffic, were lift and coast is ideal. Secondly, you keep stating the Skoda is cheaper to purchase than a matched specced ID4, which it isn’t, and you never ever go through the purchase plans or finance agreements needed to lease or direct pay the manufacturer, unless you buy outright.
    Where is the fact based journalism? Why stick to old motoring hack tropes from ‘90’s Autotrader editorials that Skoda’s are less expensive?
    These lo-fi TH-cam videos are little more than jaded opinion pieces.

    • @Electrifyingcom
      @Electrifyingcom  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dara, we used an online configurator to price up an Enyaq 80 to a similar spec the ID.4 we tested and the price was £42k versus £46k for the VW. In fact the Skoda ended up much better equipped as you can only get certain features as part of 'packs'.
      If you have some other data you think we have missed then please let us know.
      Lift and coast is indeed ideal on lightly-trafficked motorways but is less efficient where there are more vehicles around - such as on most UK roads. The ideal is the use of smart Regen using intelligent cruise control which gives the best of both. The fitment of this feature results in more points in Electrifying's Efficiency Rating.

    VW has strayed so far, not making a single compelling product anymore and grossly oversaturated with CUVs, particularly in the US.
    Consider that VW doesn't even want to compete in the EV CUV segment with this ID4, and that they're convincing themselves that they can get more mainstream adoption by luring a RAV4 or CRV driver away and introduce them to EVs, rather than go up against even a Bolt EUV, none of this makes sense. It's quite the penalty box while trying to be unassuming, which is even more disgusting that they're trying to spin an etron Q4 out of it too. 🤡

    • @bmw803
      @bmw803 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's your opinion. In North America, people buy CUVs more than anything, so most companies produce what people ask. BOLT EUV is a bit smaller, has a 50KW charger and the interior is not up to level to VW. But, that's subjective too. At the end of the day, a person buys what works for them regardless of your or my point of view.
