This brings back fond memories of Japan when I was a child well over 60 years ago. I do miss the quiet pastoral life back then. This helps me heal my frayed nerve living in US. I write in English so that others can understand.

You have a beautiful home! I know for a fact that cleaning cast iron cookware is tough from my own experience. The hearth is the heart of the home, and it looks like it now has a good keeper to it! Best of luck to you and your family in your new home!

It's very interesting that you put the trivets with the ring down and cook on the legs. My late husband and I did historical re-enacting and he loved cast iron and cooking over an open fire. He had some trivets and he always had them turned the opposite way: legs down and the pot sitting on the ring. Legs down works better on uneven ground, like cooking over a campfire, but it looks like ring down on a flat surface, like a hearth, would be more stable.
I’m very impressed of your house and how you renovated it on your own. It turned out very good. Please keep up with this beautiful house. I hope you can give us a full house and room tour someday when everything is finished 🥰

私は神奈川出身で、どこも政治的に西洋化が進行してしまっていてこんな素敵な文化を軽くしか学べない教育システムでした。
そのせいか留学から結婚を機に移住し、日本で育った事がどれだけ幸せだったかを痛感し、今は日本に帰りたくてたまりませんが、旦那の仕事や言語壁もあるので難題で。
もちろん日本文化のあった育った時間や人は好きですが、ひゆさんのような生き方をされる素敵な方がいて、有難みや日本への思いで涙がつーんときます。
今日本を出ようと思う学生さんや社会人に悲願したいのは、自分の故郷に誇りを持った上で、自身の考え方を西洋化させず学ぶ事。
私も自分なりにひゆさんのように日本人として日本の文化を守り、後世代に受け継ぎ生きていきたいと強く思います。日本文化を広めてくださり感謝します。
