Once again you captured the natural beauty of the crows and the clouds before the storm. Loved all the details of the prep required to ride out the storm, and the beautiful birds on the wire and flowers at the end. Pancake seemed to be a great supervisor of all the preparations. Thanks again for sharing it with us.❤️
This video really reminded me of something that I love about your channel in that despite this experience obviously being a dream come true, you never display it as idyllic or without a sense of the real hard work that is necessary to be where you are. It is not a ‘vacationized’ version of your life for the sake of the audience, and that’s really valuable and refreshing! Sunday mornings are always made better when you have a new one out :)
Thank you, I really appreciate your comment. Showing this side of life is important to me, as I would have wanted to see and learn about it for those who live a similar life. I'm glad you and others like you feel the same. ☺️
That shot of Jesse and Pancake walking down a path, that was then shown flooded, wow! What an amazing shot. You really get a sense of the immense amount of water a typhoon brings. I live in a coastal area on quite high cliffs, so though it gets very very windy, I've never had to worry about flooding before. Now I've got a new fear!
Great videos showing a bit of the actual feel, as much as possible without actually feeling it by being there. Much more challenging in the country side. Wonderful what you did getting the home too! Congratulations!
I would expect your re-introduction every episode to be tedious or annoying, but instead it's oddly comforting and relaxing to hear such a similar intro each time. It's definitely a vibe.
Ha! Well I try my best to make it slightly different every time. If I get bored of it, I certainly can't expect anyone to find it interesting to watch either. 🫢
I grew up in Mauritius, where we get cyclones (the Indian Ocean cousin of typhoons). We have concrete houses precisely because of the damage caused by cyclones to wooden houses. I admire your courage sticking it out in a wooden house and close to that much water! We bring all of our potted plants in, as well as anything that's not secured and might fly off - we don't want it smashing into power lines (which are all overhead and not underground), houses, windows or people. We also have shutters for our windows - and like yours one set of ours had rotted and gotten stuck when we had a few years without a cyclone! We managed to wrangle it just about shut. We always lose power so when a cyclone approaches everybody is out at the supermarket buying batteries and candles lol. So interesting seeing how it is for you guys in a traditional dwelling in the Japanese countryside.
Good video. Reminds me of the first few weeks when we arrived at camp Zama, Japan in 1962. It rained and rained, then it stopped and in the three years we lived there, it never rained like that again. We loved it there.
Jesus that’s crazy… I just had a bad wind storm in my little town in Canada and winds were 90km and ripped trees out of the ground I can’t imagine 240…. Plus, I don’t even live near the ocean or on the coast, like not even close to one. The closest ocean to me is a 14 hour drive away!! I’m basically in the mainland..😭 Climate change is really real people😢 Hope you’re okay❤
Glad y'all made it through the typhoon without too much damage (minus that ceramic vessel at the end bit). I always look forward to my monthly check in on my "Canadians living inside a Miyazaki film" TH-cam channel. 😛
New subscriber here. Lived in Ibaraki-ken more than a decade ago. I enjoy this kind of video for many reasons. Looking forward ro binge watching all of them. Thank you.
Another great video! Such high water, I hope the farmers didn't lose their crops. Thanks for sharing your preparations and attention to local alerts. I am glad you three are taking steps to keep safe during the typhon season.
Just found you and subbed straight after watching your post.. Delightful, informative and the veiws are stunning. Pancake is such a sweet pup too. Sending my very best wishes to you both, from this Silver-haired Grandmother in Wales
Wow absolutely amazing and awesome sharing on how you prepare out there when typhoon is coming. I'm glad to add my self to your channel. Greatings from the Philippines. Stay safe and have a great day ahead.
Beautiful place to live -- Learning how to respect nature at her best and worst just makes is more special. Love, love, love Pancake! Wish my dogs were as chill during hurricanes as your is!
I'm so glad i found your channel again!!! I subscribed to you guys in my old laptop account but then I lost it... I was so sad because I loved this channel but couldn't recall the name of it. After a whole 2 years, I'm back!!
Your home is so cute. The Japanese countryside is so beautiful. I live in Northern Michigan we get some bad lake effect weather at times. We live out in the countryside and our nearest town in two directions is about 15 minutes drive. So we usually keep water on hand in case of an outage. We sometimes get a little flooding in spring and summer (nothing close to what you get). We have propane heat but also wood heat which comes in handy when there is an outage during winter. Sometimes I wish I had an old fashioned indoor water handpump then I wouldn't have to worry about water.
Such a beautiful and peaceful video. We moved away for a few days when the typhoon hit, but luckily we only had minimal flooding and no structural damage this time. Thanks for sharing ❤❤
I lived in Japan for almost 15 years in the inaka or province. And thankfully I was not able to experience as much as you guys did. Thank you for sharing, now I feel so lucky even though I lived in an old town with just 1 7-11, a mini grocery, a small electric shop and a drug store, no koksai denwa and surrounded by rice paddies.....
Something about your videos makes my stressful day relaxing. I hope you're all doing well, and here's to hoping we can get more quality content from you haha!
I live in PR so it's also storm season over here. Super interesting to see how another country preps for this type of thing and how similar things feel. Stay safe guys!!
Okay, that's a scary srorm. I visited Japan this year right after the typhoon had passed, but most rivers had low water again and no damage was visible. I hope my next trips will be as smooth as this one. And that you allways come out unscathed. Greetings from Germany ❤
I've only recently discovered your videos and absolutely love them - so calming and I love seeing this simple lifestyle that was never on my radar before! I think about you guys when I hear there is a typhoon over there. May you continue to fare well!! 🙏
I was stuck at the Busan airport, for hours, about 20 or so years ago, when a typhoon tore apart the shoreline and smashed ships up. Truly terrifying. When we finally got a pick-up from a brave JAL pilot, being in a bucking plane for two hours was no fun. Glad all of you are safe.
- 6:27 Awe I am glad the buggie snuck in before the storm. Also hurricane Sandy && Helene hit us bad, but I've never had a typhoon. How did they learn Japanese && what made them want to leave Canada to move there? 🤔
Hello there… I’m sorry what I want to say have nothing to do with this particular video…but I was so excited to see Jessie on a show that I watched called “12 days of Shikoku”. My hubby and I recognize him right away and was very excited to se him working! Way to go Jessie!
Seeing the 雨戸 set up was awesome! They're one of my favorite features to look at on Japanese homes, and there's not a lot of photos or videos that I've been able to find. I remember one article talked about seeing daylight through the cracks of the shutters, and I always thought that'd be cool to see looking down the porch. The little bits of light, as the storm comes down outside...I know you said it ruined Pancake's view but it was a great view for me haha

I think the hard work makes it more dream like and cooler❤
Where r u from
I love how you gave pancake another lookout spot for him to carry out his watchdog duties! He is very diligent in his work! ❤

Earthquakes. That's why there are no concrete houses in Japan
Tom Scott’s newsletter brought me here and I really enjoyed watching your video.
Thank you for making it.
Wow, thanks for letting me know! I just checked the newsletter out - I am flattered beyond words! 🤩
Glad you all made it safe 😊🙏🏼
We are glad you all made it through the typhoon! And that Pancake got his view back!
I hope the three of you and neighbors are all safe ! 😊
Really nice transition at 7:37! The action shot really drives home how high the water got.
The sweet cricket is appreciative of the shelter. 🙂
Pancake enjoying his new throne
For he is a Good and Kind Ruler,
bestowing upon us his Wisdom and Grace! 😄

some gorgeous images there. Thank you. Be safe!
Pancake it’s just living their best life watching mom and dad do all the work😂😂🥰🥰
😂 My boy supervising the process
I love watching the adventures of Pancake and his two humans.
We were hit by typhoon a week ago. It was pretty bad. We live in Hainan, China. The winds were around 240km/h
Yikes! Hopefully you and your family were ok!
Here in the Philippines we're also often hit by typhoons. Hope you're all safe over there.

Calming and peaceful content. I like you guys❤❤
Like a real life Ghibli 🤍 so calming
What I wouldn't give to have the first 9 seconds of this video turned into a 90 minute video of rain sounds from the Japanese country side. 💜
6:40 what a dreamy view!!!
He is very diligent in his work! 😘
8 years in Ehime and never really appreciated the danger, compared to earthquakes. You have reminded me to be more diligent next time I return 😊👍🇦🇺
I stumbled upon this video on TH-cam, and it was incredibly soothing. This couple is truly living my dream life!
Glad y'all made it through the typhoon without too much damage (minus that ceramic vessel at the end bit). I always look forward to my monthly check in on my "Canadians living inside a Miyazaki film" TH-cam channel. 😛
HA! Thank you for joining our world. If I could capture even a fraction of a Miyazaki film, I would consider that the greatest compliment ever.
An informative video. What I liked is your home is not cluttered as most Japanese country side houses are.
So enjoyed the new video! Thank you for the Japanese translations! Glad to see the pup has re-earned his spot in your intro❤
I enjoyed seeing your ways of being accustomed living in Japan ❤
Always makes me feel apart of it, so cool !

Thankfully, the gardens and rice fields were all ok!
Good idea shielding the window panes with wood .
In the pacific we even tie down the roof with ropes secured to purpose built inground concrete slabs around the house
Thanks for sharing about daily activities..good night
simple life. love it

I live in Florida and been through many hurricanes. Interesting to see other's deal with tropical storms.
Pancake's so cute ❤
Excellent video. The scenery and life so well captured. I live in Tokyo.
I live in PR so it's also storm season over here. Super interesting to see how another country preps for this type of thing and how similar things feel. Stay safe guys!!
I like how you let the katydid ride out the storm in your house.
I love watching the rain from inside my safe dry home.
Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that!! Unfortunately, the extended videos are only on Patreon at the moment... 😢
Thanks for sharing, glad it wasn't a bad storm.
Okay, that's a scary srorm. I visited Japan this year right after the typhoon had passed, but most rivers had low water again and no damage was visible. I hope my next trips will be as smooth as this one. And that you allways come out unscathed.

- 6:27 Awe I am glad the buggie snuck in before the storm. Also hurricane Sandy && Helene hit us bad, but I've never had a typhoon. How did they learn Japanese && what made them want to leave Canada to move there? 🤔
fascinating! love it
I don’t know why but watching the rain from the window in Japan felt like a fantasy.
Simply wonderful done ❤
I love in Florida, USA where we experience hurricanes. We had a couple of bad ones this season. The preparation appears to be the same.
I love your videos so much!
Glad you like them!
The music is great. Thank you
It's like preparing for Hurricane season.
Hello there… I’m sorry what I want to say have nothing to do with this particular video…but I was so excited to see Jessie on a show that I watched called “12 days of Shikoku”. My hubby and I recognize him right away and was very excited to se him working! Way to go Jessie!
Ha ha, yes! Got a chance to meet Will - he is really kind!
@@maigomika so sorry I spelled Jesse’s name wrong.
Pancake was so happy to be back in 'his' watch bed. He's grown up to be a very good boy.
Seeing the 雨戸 set up was awesome! They're one of my favorite features to look at on Japanese homes, and there's not a lot of photos or videos that I've been able to find. So glad the typhoon wasn’t so bad this time around!
Watching during helene a cat 4 hitting Florida right now and I would definitely consider fixing that rotten part of your storm shutters.
What a lovely view of this part of your lives. Also, your okonomiyaki looks excellent :D
You captured some really beautiful moments =D
Watching this, building my own house and checking pinterest on other ideas is rather wholesome.
