I’ll never understand why people are so lame about the whole wedding thing. American stupidity never stop. With $24k you can do a lot of other things.

When you reach a MILESTONE anniversary (10th, 25th, etc.) or get the house paid off, THEN go all out with the bling (if you're still together by then, of course). Its fun. It's a time when families get together. The second you want more than 50 people though, you are looking at large restaurants. Above 100 and likely you will need a venue. It's hard. You think 50 people is a lot but when you have 5 aunts and they have 12 kids and your spouse has 6 aunts and they have 18 kids and a smattering of grand kids, it's hard.
