Seems like smilegate has enough money to hire good talent (remedy for single player and starbreeze for multiplayer) but not enough sense to give them enough time and extra budget to polish it properly and make it good.
As someone who lives in South East Asia, I've had memories of playing the original Crossfire when I was younger. I'll tell you this while looking back, I fuckin hated the grindyness and pay to win aspect of the game. Even worse, a skin isn't just a skin as some has better stats than the weapon it was based off. Like the base AK was weaker than a damn AK with a dragon skin. The only thing I'd say I like about the game is how the generic soldier models look, the 3 base models you can choose from but that's not saying a lot. That and also Ghost and Blitz mode since I really loved those gamemodes and were unique at that time (too bad majority of Asia are tryhard competitive fucks who can't enjoy a casual game leaving fun gamemodes unpopulated) Not to mention the overall balance was fucked to begin with. New players have a sniper rifle that literally has to hit enemies 3 times in the body to kill (Headshots are always a kill, until they added buyable armor which made it a 2 hit) and compared to the other players who've spent time and money, almost all of their sniper rifles one shot no matter where. The new player experience was basically picking up a dropped weapon from a dead player, die, repeat until you yourself can buy said weapon, but my god it'll take you a lot. Hell some gamemodes are basically harder by being a new player or someone who hasn't spent their money on the game, like a TDM knife only mode as people with a better knife have a huge advantage than a regular knife (often one shotting as well). There were also a fuckton of exploits, like being able to glitch into a world object making you basically invulnerable while you can still shoot at people who pass by and cheaters were a common thing. Another aspect about the game is the limited time buyables. Like not only are you gonna grind a fuckton to get enough money to buy a weapon and not only are some weapons stronger than their counterparts, the way they "balance" it is by making it so those stronger weapons are basically _rented_. These weapons do not stay in your inventory unless you spend money to buy it again and even some equipment suffer from this like better grenades and cosmetic gear. It's shit. But that's what the majority of free to play online games made in Asia are usually about. Either a grind that at this point you would be better off playing another game while having it run in the background, or straight up coughing up loads of money to the devs.

This game can't even compete with the famous Franchises such as CoD and Battlefield. Heck, Indie studios that made Squad, Ready or Not, Hell let Loose, Ground Branch, Rising Storm, and others can do a better job than these studios.
On the x the texture pop in is nearly non existent nor the download speed had issues. Gave it a whirl on gamepass. 100% agree on controls. Forgettable is being kind to this experience.
They (the company that made Crossfire) started out blatantly copying Counter Strike and ripping people (especially people from third world countries who didn’t know any better) off with scummy game monetization practice. I knew friends who had sink an equivalent of thousands of dollars in the first Crossfire and I think it’s just not worth it for such a game as I also knew much better games exist at the time. Now they are trying to copy modern shooters like Call of Duty and I’m hella glad that they are failing at it as we knew better now. However, this will barely put a dent in their wallet, especially how much they managed to scam out of their player base with their piss poor game. I do know I’m prolly missing a couple things here, but this is more or less a vent from me, and overall very opinionated.
Came here from the FPS GOTY video. Looks like I watched all videos this year but I don't remember watching most of them, even if they are from the same year. Then I checked the upload date and I wad rmployef when this came out. It feels like years ago. Anyway, good videos!
Quick fact check: The current Crossfire is still the biggest game in the world today with more than 1 billion registered players and in even in 2022, about six million play this game daily, granted mostly in China and South Korea. Microsoft did not buy the rights to Crossfire, Smilegate owns all the rights. Microsoft just publishes this new Crossfire IP in the West because Smilegate wants to branch out Crazy that the inventor of bullet time messed up bullet time! Thanks for the video
I think the main issue with this game is that this game feels like a port of a P.C game ported to consoles the same thing that happened with C.S:G.O when it released it's console versions they were broken and feels complicated to play normally because of the whole sensitivity issues and other weird controls so i suggest making a P.C version of this game and rework some stuff with the campaign
I just hope they bring it to PC someday, lol I used to be big into shooters on Xbox, but after having played nothing but PC for almost a year while I waited for the chance to buy a Series X... It's almost impossible to aim with a controller again ;p TL;DR: Exclusivity is a shite concept and PC should always be a target platform.
God i hate look acceleration. Even on controller. Just dosent feel right to have the speed gradually increase on an input that can already be pretty precise for controller standerds
I was expecting the campaign to have some similar gameplay to Crysis which I don't know why I was expecting that to happen. That expectation kinda did happen, but it was terribly executed.
I’m really glad I found this channel because your content is amazing and you’re very charismatic, but also I just want to mention that you look like you don’t have any plants in your house whatsoever.
In the original Crossfire, they do give you a huge GP but you also have to repair your guns after each match so that pretty much negates the huge GP that they gave you. Though you can just not repair your gun, luckily it will just makes it less accurate, it will not break or jam during a match....
MY as soon as you said it's on a different engine I hollered. How the hell did the developers think that would play out well Jesus fucking Christ on a bike
Usually games like F.E.A.R. or classic Modern Warfare I fall for instantly, The Former one of my favorite game series ever and I still loved the latter, I mean the idea of a COD game with bullet time slow motion mode sounds like a dream come true!..... How do you mess that up? Apparently all the answers I see for it is Remedy developed the Campaign for a quick buck and it makes sense but they pretty much made bullet time a big thing in games, That sounds like the one thing they couldn't have messed up lol, I played this game for literally 30 minutes and felt like I played it for 5 hours it was dragging that badly, I couldn't find one thing to enjoy it out even when I was trying to find anything to like, Thought I was in the minority but looks like everyone thinks the same too
I will NEVER understand why some games have default vertical sensitivity lower than horizontal, it completely destroys muscle memory and makes it awful to aim. Even worse is when it is forced with no option to change it. SO STUPID AND IT SHOULD BE BANNED from games.
NGL the sensitivity kind of sucks ass especially when turning left and right because there have been times where I could be looking down the site and I could be really zooming left to right while looking and then there's other times where I could pretty much be moving at a snail's pace while not zoomed in Plus the damn game won't let me get the as12 I've completed the missions I need to do to get it but whenever I try to hit collect reward for it it doesn't want to work it doesn't pop up my load out weaponry or anything it's just still there stuck in the rewards
6:00 This issue reminds me of bf1 on xbox one which has the exact same issue and i hate it The worst part is in bf1 i can't even fix or change that and for some reason i don't see people complain about it
the funny thing is that you could buy 2 guns of your choice right at the start, got a minigun personally....... broken even in the "missing developer oversight" way xD
I just played it and they did fix gun bugs and added team deathmatch to modern, but there is still a shocking lack of content. They did add daily missions which are very easy and give on 600 GP per challenges, with 5 challenges a day so it's a lot easier to get new stuff.
The worst offender when playing shooters with a controller (which I do in 99% of my FPS games on PC, I simple forgot how to play in kb+m) is aiming acceleration, I hate It.
When I was little. I had so much fun playing crossfire with my buds. And then the free hacks for cross fire were so much fun lol. I miss crossfire so much.
Thank you! Dope asf content. I played the beta or w.e. for this AWHILE ago on Xbox. Felt bad. Felt like a straight up knockoff and low budget mobile gaming moved to a console. Aiming was horrific. And it was immediately boring. Nothings changed it seemed. N the single player looks like a waste. Super disappointing from remedy. But I bet Microsoft told remedy what they HAD to do and remedy could give a fuck less.
So uh, about the campaign being on Gamepass, that's actually not technically true, cause for whatever reason at launch the whole campaing with Gamepass thing wasn't working! People were, naturally, pissed. Not even sure if they actually fixed it yet
@@BigGriffDog427 I... I did try out Catalyst and I'm certainly grateful I can play it for free thanks to Game Pass, because my god it's terrible. I know this is coming from Remedy, but catalyst is just bad to the point where I can't even remember who's the main protag name
Here in Philippines. Crossfire still a massive hit! Since it was launch around 2007 and til this day there still a tons of players and stremears boost it even more! xD
The only thing different with running these on One X, Series S, Series X is you can play them in a higher resolution or higher frame (or both on the Series X)

When it works it’s fun, there still needs to be balance fixes and they need to overhaul the currency and the amount you get per match
And they will never do that.
Fun fact two campaigns are unrelated one was made by remedy and one was made by the Asian company
Microsoft just publishes this new Crossfire IP in the West because Smilegate wants to branch out
Crazy that the inventor of bullet time messed up bullet time!
Thanks for the video
thx I can't download the HD version in SEA, only in China DX
So basically Microsoft pulled a Valve move by buying the rights of an already existing game and making a sequel out of that game?
But with less care and attention
I think the main issue with this game is that this game feels like a port of a P.C game ported to consoles the same thing that happened with C.S:G.O when it released it's console versions they were broken and feels complicated to play normally because of the whole sensitivity issues and other weird controls so i suggest making a P.C version of this game and rework some stuff with the campaign
Noooo the game is ass 100%
@@thickgirlsneedlove2190 i agree the game is totally bad but i think the multiplayer may have more potential if got ported to P.C
@@thickgirlsneedlove2190 at least this is just my opinion
Crossfire was also a board game for kids in the 90s that had very exciting commercials. It was not a really great game but the marketing was on point.
I just hope they bring it to PC someday, lol
I used to be big into shooters on Xbox, but after having played nothing but PC for almost a year while I waited for the chance to buy a Series X... It's almost impossible to aim with a controller again ;p
TL;DR:
Exclusivity is a shite concept and PC should always be a target platform.
I feel like Remedy only took this job to help fund Alan Wake 2. There seems to be not passion at all in this game.
Was hoping you or GMan would cover this game, been curious about it.
My game is super grainy what do I do to fix this
Oh boy, i do remember when my great-great grandfather was fighting with a Louis gun and the peter pistol
they actually fixed some of the ads and aiming bug issues plus nerfed the boogieman
Main appeal is that you can run it on a potato pc. THEN WHY IS IT ON XBOX ONLY WTFFF
I knew this game was bad
I've been getting ads on youtube, twitter, and facebook constantly for it
I’m really glad I found this channel because your content is amazing and you’re very charismatic, but also I just want to mention that you look like you don’t have any plants in your house whatsoever.
the resolution on xbox one has to be lower than 480p its unplayable
Dusted my xbox off to try this game, & the multiplayer is so unbalanced! That trail for me lasted all of 3 games…
In the original Crossfire, they do give you a huge GP but you also have to repair your guns after each match so that pretty much negates the huge GP that they gave you. Though you can just not repair your gun, luckily it will just makes it less accurate, it will not break or jam during a match....
Holy shit, the whole game literally looks like something that came out 10 years too late.
😂
It always crack me up when he says “THIS FEELS SOOO BAD”
At the very least the Single Player's weapon animations seem really well done!
Par for the course for Remedy
NGL the sensitivity kind of sucks ass especially when turning left and right because there have been times where I could be looking down the site and I could be really zooming left to right while looking and then there's other times where I could pretty much be moving at a snail's pace while not zoomed in
Plus the damn game won't let me get the as12 I've completed the missions I need to do to get it but whenever I try to hit collect reward for it it doesn't want to work it doesn't pop up my load out weaponry or anything it's just still there stuck in the rewards
Wow never thought I would see a shooter nowadays literally go back to the early 2000s era of f2p p2w transactions.
So when u run out of ammo in the shit gun are the shells still on the gun 🤔
What is your monitor?
Holy shit its Jarek. It's been like 5 years since I've seen you!
6:00
This issue reminds me of bf1 on xbox one which has the exact same issue and i hate it
The worst part is in bf1 i can't even fix or change that and for some reason i don't see people complain about it
Isn’t it a gigabit network instead?? Not a gigabyte network?
Instantly uninstalled the game as soon as i felt the crazy aim acceleration. Doesn't help that I'm not a fan of korean fps jank
Question, did you ever play Tactical Intervention by Gooseman? It was now a long gone F2p shooter that was heraldrd as the "Evolution of CS"
the funny thing is that you could buy 2 guns of your choice right at the start, got a minigun personally.......
broken even in the "missing developer oversight" way xD
Didn't expect there to still be boring military shooters in 2022
This whole game is just “it makes aiming impossible”
I just played it and they did fix gun bugs and added team deathmatch to modern, but there is still a shocking lack of content. They did add daily missions which are very easy and give on 600 GP per challenges, with 5 challenges a day so it's a lot easier to get new stuff.
The worst offender when playing shooters with a controller (which I do in 99% of my FPS games on PC, I simple forgot how to play in kb+m) is aiming acceleration, I hate It.
Isn't Crossfire:Legion part of this as well? It's an RTS coming out on PC later this year.
When I was little. I had so much fun playing crossfire with my buds. And then the free hacks for cross fire were so much fun lol. I miss crossfire so much.
Let’s not forget that the campaign that was supposed to drop Day 1 on Game Pass bugged out so you couldn’t play it.
Yeah, this game had a Beta for almost 2 years. What the fudge were they been doing since then? Seems like nothing at the end of the day.
Ah, yes. Bad FEAR
14:04 When the reticle strikes the fear of God into your enemies🙏🙏🙏
Why does the main menu look like Rainbow Six Siege's with discount Glaz?
So uh, about the campaign being on Gamepass, that's actually not technically true, cause for whatever reason at launch the whole campaing with Gamepass thing wasn't working!
People were, naturally, pissed. Not even sure if they actually fixed it yet
We actually did fix it so you can play the first part of the story.
@@juniormphahlele9053 I enjoyed Catalyst so I’ve bought Spectre, absolutely love this crossfire x game .
@@BigGriffDog427 I... I did try out Catalyst and I'm certainly grateful I can play it for free thanks to Game Pass, because my god it's terrible. I know this is coming from Remedy, but catalyst is just bad to the point where I can't even remember who's the main protag name
I remember that the game was on the gamepass.
THE GAME IS LITERALLY FREE AND ONLY 7 DAYS LATER THEY ADDED THE CAMPAING
I’s that the timesplitters music I hear in the background ?
Here in Philippines.
Crossfire still a massive hit! Since it was launch around 2007 and til this day there still a tons of players and stremears boost it even more! xD
The only thing different with running these on One X, Series S, Series X is you can play them in a higher resolution or higher frame (or both on the Series X)
halo x doom shirt goes hard
Anyone notice how the Villain at the End of Campaign 2 looks like PashaBiceps? Pasha even had the same Beard once, alltough not grey.
Your being too nice to the fov, a lot of FPS games on consoles have fov slider these days
I really miss the old Crossfire (I still remember the older songs) that I wanted to comeback but then I heard it's got worse so nevermind. Also, would you rather play Ironsight instead?
I almost broke my controller playing the multiplayer in this game
