@therightcar I got the D90 on Monday this week, I must say it's a lot of car for the price. Best thing is it's a company car too. I had a Jeep grand cherokee and it was a great car but the D90 Executive diesel is a step up in every way.. did you ever manage to try "sports 4 wheel driving" (that was so funny the way you said that, in a great way). If I ever try it, I'll let you know.

I have owned my D90 for over 2.5yrs now and done a couple of owner reviews myself. All initial issues I had were long ago now, I think us first customers were the testers 😅 Also I would have said the T60 was based on the D90, not the other way around 🤔

I've put a deposit on one of these (the executive diesel model) and was impressed with the test drive. What I really liked overall about the D90 is that it felt solid which the Rexton I auditioned didn't. SAIC, who make the D90 have been around since 1955. The engine is made by a reputable Italian company, the transmission is borrowed from VW I believe and the electronics come from a variety of sources. With the 10 year warranty and roadside assist which I paid a little bit extra for I feel that I'm well covered. I looked at the Prado equivalent (according to features) and it's over double the price.

Any insight on when Ssangyong will rebrand in Aus , if they do at all, Musso/Rexton sales have been quite solid of late, perhaps a name change would throw a spanner in the works as the brand starts gaining momentum .. So as far as bad Chineese packaging goes this SUV is a good 7 seater with a decent 3rd row comprable to some Japaneese MPV's that arent in the market because they are too cheap, reliable and have no ADAS. Only downside is no 360 degree camera for the large unit.

Thanks for your thoughts mate. Love the Japanese cars that are too cheap and too reliable! 😅

The indicator noise is obnoxiously loud. I've driven a variety of makes and models and the indicator noise is stupidly loud for no reason. I cant stand it.
It's also so slow to take off from a stopped position like at a red light. I thought my D-Max was a bit slow, but this is noticeabley slower, and i have the petrol executive so i don't know what the deal is. If i didn't have to drive it for work I wouldn't. My other gripe is connecting phones. If you have an android forget about it. The car wants you do download an app that Samsung won't download because it doesn't trust it so it's bluetooth only. It sucks that Apple car play has to be connected via a cord to work unlinke other car brands.

Driving the diesel around right now
If you want a large, affordable SUV with all the bling (half of which you'll switch off) then this is the car for you
(Provided you don't mind the noisy engine that delivers it's power in all the wrong places and whose constant drone will tire you, a gearbox that doesn't know what it's doing, complete lack of engine braking, noisy running gear, slooowwww steering, wallowing suspension)
