Greetings from Scotland. When I saw those burgers being cooked, it reminded me of the amount of grease my grandparents used when frying, when I was young (both lived to a ripe old age, by the way). I must admit, they didn’t look appetising when they were frying. But they looked great on the bun! Wouldn’t mind trying one of those (a few thousand miles to travel, but what the heck). For me, the bun looked the best part - what we in Scotland would call a traditional morning roll. There’s nothing worse than this modern fad of serving burgers on those awful brioche things.
I totally agree. Brioche buns are for “Yuppie Bugers”.
All of my grandparents lived to mid and late 90 yrs old, they ate eggs , bacon, sausage ,gravy foods cooked in bacon grease, butter. They lived much longer than the soy boy crowd ever will, also ate hamburgers cooked in all that grease.😮
Triple snappin turtle move! Woe, I love a greasy burger. Holy cow, that place is really right out of a page of history. Those 3 or 4 fry stations are so funny, but in a good way. Loved the paper towel plates on the counter of those old guys eating. How cute is that. Old school and down home. Loved it and thanks. Karla in Cali.

This is America like I remember as a kid while visiting my grandparents that came to California during the Dust Bowl. Err thang fried in grease. Love it.

This and the Eatin' Table down the road were where my wife and I were going to go for her 40th birthday private celebration (we're in Nashville, she taught at WKU in Bowling Green). She felt tired, so we delayed it, and a couple weeks later passed away this past Easter Sunday from the cancer we didn't know she had. I think TH-cam suggested this because I had been going to Maps and looking at our planned trips. I kind of want to go and get two burgers, one for me, and one for her.

That gal at 2:36 probably gets A LOT of attention in Tompkinsville. As to the burgers, I can tell by looking at them that they are overhyped. Ya gotta go to The Assembly in Hoffman Estates, IL if you want the best burger on earth.

I came from Brazil in 1960 and fell in love with the mom and pop stores and small restaurants like this,I love my old america and this place brings lots o ( I could not speak one word of English) 🍔🍔🍔 he made me hungry eating that burger

Ah Man.... You just know how good all that food was! Got my mouth watering. Love the 3 station cooking method too. Looks like the sauce is mustard forward from the color.
They said mustard ketchup and pickle juice and minced onion.

I have visited Thompkinsville. A buddy of mine from my platoon in the army was from there. Although I will not mention his name, he was well known as a successful businessman in the area. Unfortunately he died 8 years ago. He never mentioned Dovie's.

I visited Kentucky for the first time in October, and this town is where I went to experience these types of places. Sad I didn't make it to Dovie's (We went to Bob's House), but will be sure to next time!

I've had lunch at Dovie's during a work trip to Tompkinsville. It was unique for sure. I'm not sure it classifies as fine dining but it was an experience.

Agreed. Healthy or not a good burger is greasy! I had a local ‘go to ‘ place that made burgers like this then one day….. I went in and the burger came out on the same scale as Sonic. Dry…flavorless.. I buy my beef from a local cattle guy. He raises his herd. Does the whole deal.. cost more but worth it…
