Great video Dale. I used to pack on horseback into Colorado a similar size Cabela’s canvas wall tent and collapsible wood stove that I built. It was heavy and I had to cut my poles from trees at camp. Your tent and stove is the best setup I’ve seen by far. The company should put a link to your video because as the previous subscriber mentioned, I learned more in five minutes than the years I spent by trial and error. Looking forward to your videos from deer camp. Have a blessed weekend my friend! Brandon
Oh my goodness, you just made my day sir, Thank you so very much for the kind words. I am trying to do my best with these videos, so thank you so very much. I have always wanted to hunt Colorado and I know that would be a great camp as well. Thank you so much for sharing this with us and I hope you have a blessed weekend my friend. dale
My fiancé and I learned more about tents in the first minute of this video that we ever acquired in life. You are a treasure of knowledge Sir. With the fire mat, would it make sense to turn it 45 degrees into a diamond shape to get you more protection on the floor out in front of the stove? Idk, just wondering.
Oh thank you so very much for the kind words my friend. Make no mistake, when you see this fireplace st up at deer camp, it will be in a diamond shape, I love that idea, thank you so much for that as well as the kind words. Thank you so very much and I hope you have a blessed weekend. Dale
Great video Dale, thanks for taking the time to give us all this great information. This tent is something we are really considering for our camping adventures once Karen retires. We had been thinking of a small teardrop camper but then if we went this route we could trailer the 2 kayaks with us as well. Thanks again, hope you have a blessed weekend my friend. Don
Yes sir, I completely understand and you can already see the writing on the wall with us and our kayaks as well. It will be so much easier to set this up and I wont need two vehicle to get us to the lake, I am looking forward to those amping days as well. Thanks again for the kind words and I hope you have a blessed weekend. Dale
Thank you so much Dale this is a lot of fantastic information I really appreciate ya. I do believe that this is a great product and it will be put on my wish list 👍🏼 Thank you again my friend. Take care and God bless.
Great video! Been looking at this tent and stove. Great info on the rain cover over the spark arrestor. How about the vent holes that are in the double insulated pipe section? Especially with it being at that angle, can rain water enter through those and then out the bottom straight into the tent?
I had the same thought as you on it potentially leaking water during the rain. So here is what I did to eliminate that work. I placed a small piece of regular old remolds wrap tenfoil just over the top and used it kinda like a rain cap. I didn’t have any water come into the tent. I hope what I am describing makes sense. I will do a short video on it next November when I am there for my two to three week camp. Thanks for the kind words. I will say this. It is an awesome tent and stove combo makes it so much funner. With the stove there is plenty of room for two guys and all the junk you would want for hunting or fishing and room for Buster the Pup. There was several nights last year I think we had as many as 4 guys in the tent with the fireplace going in eating dinner. Good times I tell ya. Thanks again and keep us posted if you end up getting one. Have a blessed week. Dale.
@@HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors Thank you good sir, great info! I think I'm sold on this setup. I like the idea of using foil on the insulated pipe section in case of rain. You have an excellent channel. Very descriptive and informative! Thank you for sharing your experiences!
Man now that’s a great setup brother I really like that! How long does it take to set everything up? If your going to do long stretch camping then that definitely would be the way to go. Awesome job on the video, I’m going to have to checkout that spray. Hope y’all have a great weekend and a successful season in the woods and on the water!
If you haven't been using sawyers, I would strongly suggest it. I use it on all my hunting clothes and spray my jeans etc when I am bank fishing, boots, sleep bag etc. It really does work, just dont spray it on your skin like off, not designed for skin contact and perk on clothes it last up to 6 washes. Tent sets up pretty quick. I would say if I was rushing I could have the tent set up in less than 10 minutes and another less than 10 on the stove. It looks like a lot more pieces that it is, but they all slide together and go much quicker than it may appear in the video. I will do a video when I get to deer camp this year and show from start to set up and run a stop watch and see what we come up with on set up time. I can assure you if it was raining, I could do it quicker hahaha. I hope you have a blessed weekend my friend. Dale
Man that’s pretty awesome I would have thought it would take a long to set that up. Thanks for the info and I’m definitely going to check out the spray!
I read a review on the Springbar Skyliner in the Springbar website. A couple reviews mentioned how they experienced water come in from rain through the zip stove jack and also the stove. I am wondering if you used this tent with stove with stove jack in place in heavy rain. I have the Kodiak version of this tent and need a second tent now. There are some things I do not like about the Kodiak so Im considering the Springbar Skyliner. It's a lot of money. So wanting to work out details.
I have used it in the rain with the wood burning stove running during the rain,. I have not seen the reviews and or the mentions you are refereeing to. I can tell you from my experience what I did to combat this. If you have the insulated pipe (which is recommended) , running out the side wall like the directions show, you can clearly see there is a air gap there which is how the insulated pipe is made, to let heat escape with out burning the tent side wall or pipe jack etc. I put a piece of ten foil over this hole, (just on the top, so the heat could still escape on the bottom etc.) during the Rain, and the rain ran around it instead of down it, I'm not a employee of the springbar nor for the winner well company, and I am not a fireoloogist or anything like that, just a guy who looked at it and said to himself, I bet the leaks if it rains, since it is a big open hole. So that was my solution, and it worked just fine for me, that one day in particular was nov 2023, we had two days of rain, one day it rained all day, started the next day with heavy rain and it finally went away, I ran the winner well stove both days and had to open the windows to let it cool off some in the tent. the rain fly made this possible. Hope this helps answer your question, I was right there with you when I was doing my own research and this was my final thoughts, I got the springbar classic jack with the rain fly, the Skyliner does not have a rain fly option as far as I know, they had not made one for it yet, two years ago anyhow. I did reach out to the m prior to buying the classic jack and asked if they was going to make a rain fly for the Skyliner, and they said they were looking into it but had not made one as of the time of my purchase. Good luck and let us know what you decide. have a blessed weekend. Dale
@@HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors Thank you for your response and detailed info! It seems that every tent has its pros and cons and we just learn to decide which ones we can live with and adapt to. You had good mods for that leaking. Easy. There were complaints about leaking at stove jack zipper. That can be specific to that person's weather experience. I have the Kodiak version. Kodiak did not sell a fly. They referred me to Springbar. I bought their fly which is good quality and fits. But is not cotton and I lost the breathability at roof level and my tent heats up much faster now. I wish American tent manufacturers will consider using polycotton blends like the European tent industry who are prolifically using it. I believe the good ratio is 60 percent polyester and 40 percent cotton. It offers the best of both worlds regarding properties. Another thing I wish the American outdoor tent industry would take seriously is screen tents. Our campgrounds in the US have changed the picnic tables to reflect ADA requirements which require an extended table without seat to accommodate wheelchairs on ALL tables that are replaced. This is good for handicapped but changes the way campers use screen tents because it adds another 22"+ to the table length and bumps campers out of using the typical awnings and screen tents 10', 12' long. Even 14' is sketchy. We like to use it OVER the picnic table but now cannot. Screen tent offer a place to shelter and deal with food outside the sleeping tent which can attract animals, esp in bear country. But I also have squirrels and racoons issues who will actually EAT THROUGH canvas to get to food. I have ideas but cannot get the attention of American tenting industry. But I have pricked the ears of the Aussies who may run with it. Thank you for all the good outdoor knowledge you share with your viewers. Appreciate it so much!
@@janetdonaldson2632 I truly can tell you are one who does research.. I love it, it is something else I enjoy as well. I'm impressed with the fabric ideas as well. I am sure you are right, someone will jump on that, It is a great idea. I have not tried a tent in the material mix you are speaking of, but I bet it can be a wonderful tent. I also like the idea of the screen area for th picnic table, I have not even really tried it due to some of the issues you have described and a lot of the places I camp especially for my hunting related camps are all primitive and the only tables there are the ones I bring. hahah, I have a mini table set up inside my springbar for morning coffee, it also doubles as an end table etc. then the small awning and or an easy up is where I set up the outside grill and or cooking areas for most of the main meal stuff. Thanks agein for taking the time to share this with us all. know some of the folks at springbar do check on this video from time to time and they may actually read this and take it into consideration as well. I ponder if a pair of welders gloves would be useful just in case you had to mess with the stove while it was still a little hot?
