Fun fact: it's almost a year to the day that we unboxed the smartphone that would capture our hearts and forever change our collective opinion on the phablet category. And despite the intervening three hundred and fifty seven days, two important factors remain the same for today's unboxing video: the daily dollop of hair gel didn't make it onto our host's head before filming, and the branding on the box once again reads "Galaxy Note."
That's right: the Galaxy Note 3, the device we first glimpsed back in Berlin and which we savagely demoed in video after video from Samsung's massive IFA 2013 booth, has finally landed at our doorstep. And after a week spent reviewing the iPhone 5c, we're ready for a little (or perhaps more properly, a massive) change of pace.
Join us, then, as we take you on a tour of the Note 3 and its retail box contents. We'll take a spin past the big 13MP camera and 3200 mAh battery, show you the intricate stitching on the sides of the faux-leather back cover, and even give you a glimpse at some replacement S Pen tips and the phone's giant USB-3 connector, along with much more.

I love how they did the leather on the back! I might just switch this with my galaxy s4
I was going to go nexus for future devices, but then I got my hands on this guy. It is the same size as my Note2, with a better display and plenty of reason to have the pen. Drag and drop while using multi-window is cool. Handwriting converted to text anywhere and so much more. I can't wait to see the full review.

I've watched many reviews about different phones from Michael Fisher before ( I trust his opinion) & to be honest, I had never seen him so excited about a "unboxing." Pretty cool..This would be my FIRST phablet..but I think I'm going to take the plunge & get this phone, looks awsome!

Wife and I both have the note 2 and will wait to upgrade to next year's note 4. BIG reason why we aren't upgrading to the note 3 is the screen size. We both want a 6 inch super amoled 1080p screen. Here's hoping samsung increases the screen size in 2014!

Please do more reviews on this soon. I am not up for a upgrade but that may not stop me from getting on. But I do hate to give my S4. It has been a fantastic phone.

The back of the phone is to imitate a notebook as in 'Galaxy note 3' on the side of the phone are ingrained lines that imitate pages, all to represent a notebook and Spen features link to this also

That is a USB 3.0 micro-B port. it is backwards compatible and you can plug a regular micro USB cable into it. if you look closely at it it is basically a micro USB port with an extra square port next to it for the extra USB 3.0 data lines. (not in focus in the video - look it up).

The Usb 3 port is actually just 2 Micro USB side by side but one side does not have the curved side to prevent a singe USB micro to get into the wrong side of the connector

Whenever I see thumbs down on Pocketnow videos I have to wonder if people are really disappointed in the videos, or just the device.
If your not mature enough to separate your feelings on a product from the quality of the review then you should be watching these videos with adult supervision.
Okay I think I will use the htc one cause I did see the blue one got released and got to try it out its really cool looking and feels great. I listen to music a lot so the beats audio is a nice feature.

The metal thing that you found in the box is actually a tool to pull out the head of the S-pen and change it scince the pen head is consumeable...
The metal click is for the s pen you used the metal clip as tweezers to take out the lil robs they are like 2 platic and 2 robber the robber is better for drawing doesnt move as much.

It's actually the Octa as the model number is SM-N900 instead of the SM-N9005 which is the international LTE variant.

Calendar. That is the second thing I use on my galaxy S3 after phone. Please review S-panner app. I am interested in how it displays long notes (10 -15 characters) in portrait and landscape.
Call quality is definitely something I'd like your expert opinion on with this phone.
I would really like to see a comparison between this and the Lumia 1520, when it comes out later this year.
could you explain more the workings of the (micro?) usb 3 port? In Europe a law was just enforce to standardize charging and usb ports, and now we have yet again to deal with another standard?
yeah I have a same question with hexen as Htc one screen resolution is still the best in the market and also the boomsound.

Back cover on the top right of phone on the faux leather .. is there a pullled stitch or blemish of some sort 4:13 min mark ??? How will those stitches hold over time?

Mike, what the amount of RAM remaining on the handset once boot with sammy apps on the unit.
Would you say the s4 is a good phone for the start of next year? My upgrade is not until febuary and I am on verizon. Not sure if they will release the s5 or not. I am on an iphone 4 right now and I never owned a android phone.
