I lived in Iraq (Kurdish part) for my first 13 years. Truth be told, Iraq as a country has never ever been dangerous. It has always been external forces that has caused it problems. By that I mean even when Saddam in power and there were both Kurdish and Shia insurgencies, the problems never boiled over into cities or actually making cities unsafe. ISIS became a problem simply and regrettably because the Arab part of Iraq is just not united. That isn't in any way shape or form a criticism, but it's a reality. Resentment on the part of Shia for their treatment at the hand of Saddam is still very bitter so it is a back and forth situation when it comes to governance. That lack of agreed leadership and direction leads to weakness and that's why the Iraqi army had its guard down when it came to the brief but very real ISIS. threat. Thankfully though, our Kurdish forces pummelled them. But the point I'm trying to make is that for a normal person who just wants to live life and enjoy what Iraq has to offer, you'd literally be among the safest people on the planet. I'm Kurdish but love all of Iraq. I certainly wouldn't say any of this if I felt you'd actually be under any sort of threat if you visited. Iraq and Iraqi's are just not like that. @Nagolbud Nice reading comprehension you got there. You missed the keyword "intentionally." Every war has civilian deaths from crossfire, and virtually none of them are on purpose. Try reading a book.
@Nagolbud Every single war in human history has a small amount of civilians killed intentionally by some rogue soldier. There is no avoiding the fact that certain soldiers are mentally ill freaks. You're grasping at straws.
The Kurds are really nice people. I hope someday they get their independence and our full support. My buddy in high school was one of the first friends I made when I was new. His whole family was so welcoming and Friendly.
Josh McDaniel if you look for independence you must have the resources. Most of the money Kurdish people receive is from the central government of Baghdad which depends on the south that has too much oil. I don’t think you would like to see America without California or New York. The bigger the better as well as diversity.
@RT Kurdi 0.0 there's is a difference between a culture and a nationality, my culture is an Arab but I'm Iraqi , your culture is Kurdish but u r Iraqi ! Honestly I don't see this much hate and racism from the other Kurds from other countries only the Iraqi Kurds!

"It's very safe." It isn't April fool day. The U.S. Department of State assesses Iraq at Level 4, indicating travelers should NOT travel to the country. (www.osac.gov/Pages/ContentReportDetails.aspx?cid=25657 ) Every Westerner visiting these troubled regions of the Middle East run the risk of being kidnapped for ransom attempts. I have forgotten how many Western civilians that have been decapitated because their governments rightfully denied payout of ransom. Another risk is suicide bombers. Just because it's calm this month (?) doesn't mean it is the next month. Baghdad isn't Copenhagen. Still, I'm pretty sure Baghdad can be awesome. Maybe I'll visit one of these days. Have a great day!

From what I understood this visa policy thing you describe only applies to Iraqi Kurdistan and NOT to the rest of Iraq. Somehow Iraqi Kurdistan managed to secure its own immigration policies, separate from the Republic of Iraq ones. But other than Kurdistan, visas on arrival in the rest of Iraq aren't a thing, sadly.

Somebody else commented something like, "Unlike other travel TH-cam channels, yours is the most interesting because you don't go to tourist traps, etc.... Instead, you go to more'forbidden lands'" - AGREED, however, I would like to add that the MAIN reason I watch this guy's channel (and subbed) is because of his spirit; his personality and it feels like he genuinely cares about us, who are watching and, in a sense is taking us WITH him rather than speaking AT the camera and being a poser and/or trying to be "Mr. Hotshot Traveler," or whatever. Would be so cool to meet and have a beer with Nick, however, I doubt he's going to be traveling to the forbidden land of Dallas, Texas anytime soon :-)
Hey Bud, check this out. I was watching your introduction to the video where you were in the empty tent-like( looking I mean, I realize it is a building with curtains lol) structure. I had the feeling immediately that I had been in the exact place that you used as your background. After thinking a bit, I realized where the "Deja Vu" like feeling originated. I spent many years as an Electronic Security Systems Tech, and one particular day I had an installation for a very well known lady in Flint, Mi. She wanted me to install her security system ASAP and was showing me through the house. It was a very nice, brand new home for her, but it was not fully furnished yet, so I was completely surprised when she took me to the basement to finish the tour. The house above was probably around 2800 to 3000 square feet so the basement was quite large. Every wall in the basement had been covered in a very thick, fabric curtain that was a dark maroon in color with a gold design much like the video intro. The ceilings were a normal 8-foot ht., but instead of being covered with drywall or a drop ceiling ( as so many Michigan basements have) they were draped with bolts of the same thick fabric fastened to the ceiling to make it appear that you were in a giant Bedouin tent. All of the support columns were padded and covered in fabric( as to not negate the visual effect). If one would walk down her stairs with their eyes closed( who would do that ? lol) and open them again, one would not believe they were still in the same house. Down the stairs and into a giant Bedouin tent, even the furnishings were all very well tied to the overall illusion. I hope you all enjoy that little tid bit. It was a very cool experience and my customer was a gracious host indeed. Thanks. Indigo Traveller for letting us ride along on your trips. I am envious indeed ( even though most fail to realize the hard work involved in shooting and editing etc)of your lifestyle, being able to live out your dream. Keep on keeping on ! peace.

Every war has civilian deaths from crossfire, and virtually none of them are on purpose.
The bigger the better as well as diversity.
and we love too , i think you should visit kurdistan ❤💜 Peshmerga 🌻

@@pietrojenkins6901 No. Its better for the country if its united. Separatists are always cancer in every country.
@KS A True. There is a reason the oil price dropped down, kurdish leader sold it on the black market outside of OPEC regulations.

@@fogshadow9112 it all started when the British Empire divided the middle east for their own benefit. the middle-east wants to be united but Israel and Americans won't let it happen.
Israel doesn't like the rest of Middle-East except for the Saudis because they are allies.
that's why they bomb Syria and give weapons to terrorists so they can tear the Middle-East apart.

Come to Baghdad if you want Lamborghinis and many more supercars. It's very safe and everyone is free. The night life in Mansur street has it all.

Keep on keeping on ! peace.
