    I just feel like you should be able to ask for what pay that you need. Dental assisting is a lot of work especially in a busy office. If they aren’t able to get it, cool. It’s okay to bid for what you want. Coming from a dental assistant that helped me in shadowing, he said out of his mouth to ASK for what you need and leave wiggle room to negotiate.

    Love this video 💖 You guys hit on some many excellent points. I just left a job that wasn't a good fit. First, No lunch break! I was told to grab lunch when it slows down. I was the only assistant working with two doctors. So my last straw was when I had to do like 11 plus FMS back to back, adults and children using an adult size x-ray sensor on children. smh. The scheduling receptionist who worked from her home had no care or consideration as to how she was scheduling appointments. CrAZy !

    The technology question is so good because when I first moved to vegas and my first office was a corporate, they had digital x-rays but their charts were basically a packet and they never really entered anything into the computer. It was so tedious. I left after a week and a half. I know some use routing slips which is good it’s just one paper and I can write down then type into the computer. Helps if the Dr is talking fast and you not a fast typer

    Do not accept a starting wage lower then $ 20.00 a hour because if you do trust and believe it will take you ten plus years in most offices to even earn $ 15.00 a hour .

    • @DentalVibes
      @DentalVibes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      We disagree! If you have zero to no dental knowledge you can’t demand big $$. A lot of DAs worked their asses off to improve and got immediate raises

    • @krisb3939
      @krisb3939 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@DentalVibes $ 20.00 is not even big money what la la land are you living in ? Do some damn research . The average middle class income is $ 78 k a year to live comfy no not rich now in the USA .$ 20 is not even class to a average middle class wage ..LOL And no most DA's do not get immediate raises when they work their asses off and no I'm not saying it doesn't happen , a lot DA's that have been in the field and it took them ten plus years to make $ 15.00 a hour and had to pull tooth and nail to earn raises . Just like most dentists don't give a rat ass if DA's earn all these certs And no you cant just walk off the streets asking for $ 20.00 now if you been assisting for a year than yes ask for $ 20..00 . but like I said $ 20.00 isn't even close to a decent wage plus most DA's dont even earn close to $ 45 k a year, but yet DA's are taken on more and more . A majority of Americans make less than $20 per hour for that matter . I'm not trying to sound like a jackass but please do your research . So many DA's are leaving the field because of the wages and how they are treated . Matter of fact I know the state of Oregon was on the news begging for DA's because of the DA shortage . DA's are tired of the foolishness

    • @DentalVibes
      @DentalVibes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s really hard to put a dollar amount on someone’s skills. It all depends on location, skills, and how much training is still required

      Oh man! Buckle up 😅 it’s going to be a lot thrown at you very fast. Check out our videos on X-rays, alginate impression, temporary crowns, bleaching trays, pretty much watch all our videos lol. It’s going to be a lot. Bring in a pocket notepad and take photos of the set ups. Good luck 🙂🦷

    I have an interview next week and I need some confidence 🥲 I only have 6 months of ortho, like only braces and this is a general office. I know that they’re opening to training, I’m just so nervous because what do they expect out of me during the working interview if I don’t know anything?😢 I’ve been watching videos and hopefully God works my hands, Lol

      Watch our video on Working Interviews and Composite Set up. You got 6mos of experience, you know sterilization, you know how a dental office flows and you know how to work with patients! Trust yourself! Show that you are a team player and eager to learn!! Good luck!
