      Thanks!!!
Being that I’m half Scandinavian… I figured it was a proper way to send it on its way hahaha.
It was rather nice to see it go up in flames… I have NOT missed having it on my face, that’s for sure!
      Thanks for watching 👍🏻

Hi my friend I'm coming at you in regard to my 69 f250 that just happens to have the Bendix power steering box my original Bendix box was never leaking although it had excessive play in it and it already had been adjusted before so I decided to buy a rebuilt one not from redhead.
It wasn't on eBay it was from a place called American something and to my surprise after installing it it had just as much play if not a little more than what my factory box had I should have gone with the redhead unit but now they're up into the 800-900 range and I found this one for $450 and gave them my old one as a core.
I wanted to ask you because a few people who used to be old Ford mechanics had told me at an alignment shop that with this Bendix unit to adjust the play you cannot just tighten the upper screw that will actually make it worse, they had told me that at the bottom of the power steering box where that round locking ring is in the big slotted screw that you have to loosen that locking ring and you have to turn that big slotted screw a certain amount of turns as well as the upper adjustment screw at the same time and I have not yet found anyone to tell me if that is true or show me the procedures of how to do it.
I wish my truck came without power steering then to have that Bendix box because ever since I've drove the truck from the previous owner or to me installing your rebuilt Bendix box it's always had play in it I would rather have a Ford power steering box but like you said you have to change the entire steering column you have to change or cut the steering column but you have to buy a new pitman arm and you have to do a lot of things to make it work.
Have you came across any of this have you heard any of this with the Bendix box I took my truck to an alignment shop today to set the toe on it and I told them that it had play in it and of course they didn't want to touch it they said the play was fine but it's not and it's a disappointment to me that it's a rebuilt steering box and basically they probably just did a seal kit on it because they didn't know how to do the gears.

My recommendation would be to upgrade to the Ford box-It is half the cost of the Redhead Bendix unit (even with all the other parts required for install). When I spoke to them; they don’t stock the Bendix units so you have to ship yours down and wait for it to be rebuilt.
The changeover is really quite simple and only takes a couple hours. If you can find someone parting out a 69-79 f100 you can get all the parts (column, steering box w/pitman arm, and firewall brackets) for $200-300, and then just take the steering box in as a core and get a rebuilt one from NAPA etc. I sold my Bendix box, and in the end; the entire swap only cost me about $100
I’ve heard even the redhead Bendix boxes leak and fail eventually. There’s a good reason ford stopped using those boxes!!!
The steering in my truck feels incredibly tight and smooth since the swap and it was 100% worth it.
Best of luck to you! Thanks for watching 👍🏻

@@whiskeycreekcustoms6296 yes I think in the long run that would probably be the best thing to do I've never experienced the leaking from the Bendix box though my box was 50 years old and it never leaked they only problem was excessive play.
I'm not saying it's a good box but mine never leaked the way I did find online was somebody had posted the adjustment procedure for it from the 68 shop manual it's not hard it's just a hassle there's three adjustments like I said and most shops would not know how to do those adjustments you have to remove the pitman arm and use an inch pound wrench on the steering wheel nut turn the steering wheel one and a quarter turns to either the right or the left and then the first adjustment you do is at the bottom with that big slotted screw and adjusting ring that's the worm gear bearing pressure adjustment .
Then you have to back off the side screw on the bottom which is the the rack adjustment and the final adjustment is the one on the top it makes clear sense it's just a hassle you have to drain all the fluid out to do the adjustment and it's basically measured by inch pounds so what they're saying in the shop manual is when you turn the steering wheel back and forth at the end of the adjustments you should only be able to turn the steering wheel a quarter inch left and right I can turn mine three quarter to one inch or maybe more than one inch so whoever rebuilt that box did not do it right.

It’s not uncommon on “rebuilt” boxes… they throw in new seals, hit it with a coat of paint and ship it out the door.
Being that these boxes are not all that common, you need a reputable bullet like redhead to go through them properly.
Let us know if you manage to get your adjusted!
