The pits you noticed running along the jaws are called Foramen and are thought to supply the soft tissues of the face (presumably big lizardy-lips) with blood and nutrients. Many lizards today like monitor lizards have them too! Phenomenal attention to detail, just really outstanding work!

Imo, these masterpieces of artwork should be displayed in luxury places that belong to the rich. Those who are interested in collecting them are the only customers that a wood carving artist should target to. Customers have to be worthy enough to buy these masterpieces which is some kind of an artist's pride. Who wouldn't want their beautiful artworks to belong to worthy customers and displayed in a worthy place. Though if the artist him/herself is also a rich person and has a freakin big mansion then it is another story.

The dimples around the jaw are for nerves! I don't remember whether they're anchor points or something else but they've got to do with the nerves in the tyrannosaur's lips (we know they had lips partially _because_ of the even arrangement of the dimples, which I think is really neat). Glad you included them in the sculpture, it came out amazing!

Also, the little holes above the teeth are likely attachement points for muscles and nerves that would lead to the lips that covered the teeth on most dinosaurs! These holes can also be seen in lizard and crocodile skulls.

They are for sensory glands like Alligator & crocodile have. You almost got it completely correct. Pray especially afraid or spooked pray put off an odor those sensory glands pick up on. We'll that what I've read & I'm 99.9% positive. Nah I'm 100% or I would not have mentioned it. They are usually night hunters or ambush predators.

Ahh, that's going a little to far. I know some world class carvers from big bear lake Ca. Google it & the wood carving scene. That place is full of carvers from Canada Europe & even Russia. They carve eagles that look life like Totem, bears & you can name the animal & they can carve it with just a chainsaw only. No little Dremel tools just chain saws of all sizes of blade. This guy's good really really good but I've personally seen guys that talented if not more talented in big bear lake Ca. Well they were from all around the world but lived up there at the time I was into chainsaw carving. I'm not even on this guys level. Especially after I broke my neck. I can't hardly hold something that heavy for that long anymore. Lol..

All of ur work looks very BEAUTIFUL...u keep saying that this was ur favorite to do and I really think it's because this was something u have always wanted to do and u had all of the control in everything in the design of it (meaning not commission and someone else's idea) so this was something you finally got to do after all that time and it turned out absolutely gorgeous
