All 25 of the Union Pacific Big Boys really did a good job 👏 of hauling freight carrying big loads of it. I got to see the Big Boy 4014 3 times in a row but it is still very cool to see it in action meaning on the railroad tracks 🛤.
This is too funny. I watched this earlier this evening and today Jaw Tooth uploaded a video of Big Boy in St Louis and im like…….i wonder. I totally saw you guys walking by Jaw Tooth as he checked the Big Boy fact poster. 5:51 in his video you see you guys walk by. Too funny but i had to come say something.
This was most interesting to have someone explain something that I have always wonder about from a very long while. This was the first time someone broke down all the little things of a steam loco. Thank you and your Family for making this trip. Great job of filming. 👍👍👍
Couple weekends ago I just went and visited the railroad museum there in Wisconsin about a half hour from Appleton they got a big boy it's pretty neat to see
Steve, my son and I went to Tucson two years ago and spent several hours near the loco as you and Matt did. Ed Dickens introduced Ted Schulte to the crowd and said he was the best Fireman in the business. Ted is the guy you had asked the questions to. Ed also blew the whistle for the crowd several times that day. Great experience for us and for you as well I imagine.
one of my fathers most favorite besides the CABFORWARD....my father railroaded most of his life away after VN....he collected Brass HO scale steam...i wanna say he had a good dozen...GREAT VIDEO!
@@fscrailroad2321 let me know if you have interest, im painting a half dozen locomotives for a friend of mine for the Green Bay & Western...be happy to send you one...
Suggestion : Hobo Shoestring has be riding the rails as a hobo for more than 35 years and a wealth of railroad history and knowledge. Shoestring was first runner up for king of the hobos this year and would be a great addition to to FSC Railroad.
What else would you name this locomotive other than BIG BOY? What a gargantuan piece of machinery. Ha ha loved the “under warranty” sign on 4015 Awesome looking train
A bit behind on seeing the videos from the new channel. Thanks for sharing big boy. Across the tracks from big boy is the newest addition to the Amtrak fleet. I think they are hybrids. They are super quiet as they depart. The entire center section is open space and lit up. They are made by Siemens as I recall.
Awesome video and awesome channel. I'm a subscriber to all of your channels, especially this channel. I'm also a big fan trains and anything railroad related, I look forward to seeing more of your railfanning content.
I've been waiting to see the Big Boy video ever since you mentioned it weeks back. I got to see the Big boy in Adams Wi. Couple of yrs ago. Great video!
The older EMD locos were made by GM. That was an SD70-M. It basically has a giant 2-stroke in it, a 710-16 I think. EMD was sold off to someone else and now caterpillar owns them. They came out with a new SD-70 that meets tier 4 emissions but the 2-stroke is gone. The new prime mover is a 1212 or something like that. I’ve had one of the Progress Rail demonstrators in my power consist, but I’ve never ran one.

BIG BOY GOES HOT ROD. with Chrome connecting rods, and Chrome cylinder heads. Those Chrome heads were missing in 2019. HI, from Green Bay, Wisconsin, and BIG BOY 4017 at The National Railroad Museum since July 1961, thus 2021 is the 60th Anniversary since they were donated. Plus the Double Anniversary , because the 1st 20 BIG BOY Locos' were built in 1941. Just in time to help 🇺🇸 AMERICA and her Allies to WIN WW2 against the evil forces of dictators and oppressors. Luckily, I was the Official Tour Guide, plus Train Conductor. Plus grounds keeper, at the NRRM from 1984 to 1989, thus I was able to work with 4017 mainly during spring and summer tourist seasons when 4017 was parked in front of the McCormick Memorial Train Pavilion. And then it was pushed inside the Pavilion for the Winter for protection. As the Official Tour Guide and Employee, I was able to climb all over 4017. Also on top of the boiler to get close up photos of details like the smokestack louvers. and the whistle. Then, when giving tours, it is necessary to give different speeches to different groups. For example one group could be children from kindergarten. Or another group would be a group of senior citizens on a bis tour. Or they might be on a memory trip from a nursing home. Sometimes they would be foreign visitor from 🇫🇷 France, Germany 🇩🇪, and 🇯🇵 Japan which required their translator to interpret for me. Thusly, I was able to show BIG BOY 4-8-8-4 MALLET 4017 to many new FRIENDS!!!! GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.!!!!! AMEN. THANKS!! Fri., Sept. 17, 2021, A.D.

At 10:45 he said he didn't know what the U.P. stood for. Well, it stands for Union Pacific
I remember seeing him climb Cajon pass When they got it moving again, absolutely spectacular
I grew up with steam-trains in England .. I used to go to school in one .. I still love the smell .. I was also a train-spotter
Awesome, I got some great video of her in Arizona when she rolled through

This video is the best! Thanks for doing this. I'll probably never get to see 4014, live. It is a dream to, though.
Great video! Just subscribed after you mentioned this channel on your Fsc trucking channel. Thanks for all your videos I really enjoy them.

The “under warranty” label is not a joke. It’s there to let shop forces know some repairs are done under warranty from the manufacturer (EMD)
@@FFred-us9tw it might not be a joke, but it’s freakin funny nevertheless!
Incredible machine
Hard to understand the size and power standing there.
Next year I will go to Denver to see the old boy.
This is a great learning video. Steve really is a real learning channel man. Great work Steve!
Thank you!
P.S.: remember the Classic Gospel 🎵 song "THIS TRAIN IS BOUND FOR GLORY!", now you know by what they mean when they say, "Heaven on earth!!", LOL!!!!
I saw this locomotive Big Boy at Hays Kansas I live in kansas and I love seeing that train.

Caught this beast three times Thebes IL Old MoPac Bridge then in Chester IL finally up close in Dupo IL at speed
If you get over to Stroudsburg Pennsylvania the 611 is there
It’s encouraging to see you don’t take the chance of scratching a perfectly good helmet.
Matt got lost from the orange shirt guy wisdom 🤣🤣Be careful now, orange shirt guy might stick a needle and Matt is gone along with orange shirt guy.
