I was hiking through Castlewood yesterday and apparently this same engine rolled through there on the tracks that parallel the Meramec River. There were a number of other people there to watch it roll through. The horn blast from a hundred feet away about made me jump out of my skin!
Oh man, just awesome! And the clip with the arch in the background is so majestic. Would love to see 4014 in person someday but I live in CSX land so they won't be passing by my way. Thanks for the special treat Dan- great work as always!
Thanks Dan! She's a beaut! Needed this video to remind me of days gone past. A little normality for a few minutes. Sharing with my son right now as he loves trains!
will they ever use it for what it was designed for. all the big boy trains were designed for pulling long heavy cargo loads well over 100. i dont think they ever used them to pull passenger coaches
Awesome shot of the 4014 posing under the Arch! I was in the crowd at Eureka! In fact, I was on First Street right in front of the yellow Chevy, uhh, "truck" I guess, by the utility pole. th-cam.com/video/7YrfAp3vgcc/w-d-xo.html

One of the better Big Boy composites out there. Very nice job.
Boy, that thing is a beast. They don't make them like that anymore.

steam trains should be banned due to enviromental reasons
Steam trains are actually better for the environment than you diesel electric locomotives
