I ordered 8x42 Athalon Argos G2. Selling points: a lot less money than competition, Magnesium Alloy body [Vortex and most other binos are composite/ plastic], Ultra High Definition, BAK-4 Prisms, full multi-coat. I also prefer black finish. Really wish that Vortex would offer black finish as option to the Vortex trademark green. Overall good review, but you should have pointed out the difference in body materials.

Just bought these Athlons today. I'm very impressed. They will be nice with my Vortex spotting scope, and Leupold range finder. People don't need to be loyal to a brand, they need to do what works for them. Period.

Great video. I'm looking to get a pair of the 12x50's. How would you rate the Vortex Diamondback HD 12x50 to the Athlon Argos G2 HD 12x50? It does not look like Athlon Argos UHD are available in the 12x50.
The focus knob is better on the diamondback but glass is better on athlon

I have the alpines and 2 of my friends have the diamondbacks. We all agree the alpines are quite a bit nicer. Oddly enough I’m the one who recommended the diamondbacks or the alpines to one of them and they went with the diamondbacks. I know that vortex kinda fudges there number on things like feild of veiw. And there focus knob is terrible.

I just ordered the 10x42 athlon Argos g2. Should I have gone with the 8x42? I’m trying to identify bucks in low light at ~150 yards.
10 x42 should be good
just picked up the Vortex diamondback hd 12x50. Pretty nice
I like them also but the athlon just have better glass

Try a tripod for the camera shots ?
No ill will, why make the job harder ? I have several really cheap mini tripods from mostly fairly cheap products for which I have no use at all but if I were making videos they would probably support a pair of bins sufficiently to demonstrate, for that matter I have a supply of other widgets like cheap tripods and scope camera mounts that seemed like a good idea but were more hassle than its worth most of the time.
The junk mounts up over time !
Good video, am contemplating Athlon as they offer a narrow IPD and competitive price, even many of the other well rated items have less narrow minimum IPD
Vortex has that warranty , and your gonna need it if you buy vortex , can't understand why they are so popular

Wasted my money .
They performed the exact same for hunting in low light and clarity as my old 120 dollar by Yukon gear .

A buddy of mine swears his Adorgon $35/$75 depends on where you buy from 12x50 was just as good as the Cronus UHD G2 according to his eyes. It's more like a 10x50 rather than their advertised 12x.

Looking at the price point alone I think your comparing a higher price line of glass with the Athlon UHDs vs Vortex Diamondbacks. I appreciate your analysis and commentary but I would rather see same powered Binos and same Priceline of glass compared. Buyers beware though, some of the Binos and glass come from the same manufacturers in China, Philippines and Japan.
At the time of this review they were same price category. I can't afford to buy everything exact
@@Bullets4Bucks I didn’t know they were the same price category at the time. The Argos UHDs when I looked them up were around $500 closer with the Vortex Viper Line. I did enjoy your commentary and analysis and I look forward to more videos. Athlon is definitely a company that should not be overshadowed or overlooked.
