  • Shadow Defence Minister Andrew Hastie says there is “a lot to do” to improve the Australian Defence Force.
Mr Hastie told Sky News host Chris Kenny that Australia needs to get “more people” to serve.
“We’re about 5,000 under strength, and we’re not hitting our recruiting targets.”

I served 21 years in the ADF, and there is no way that I would let my son join due to all of the woke sexualisation priorities that the ADF has now. The ADF is a joke, and some of the disgraceful purchases they have made over the last 30 years has been comical.

As recently departed soldier, I can confirm that the most senior levels of Army are obsessed by woke ideology, appearances and their own careers. Defence capability, (especially retention), come a poor fourth to those. To change that, you would need a complete change of culture.
I don't see how that is remotely possible. Not when those promoting the woke agenda are at the top of pretty much every sector of society.

Ramp up and grow the school cadets programs so young people can get a taste of what Defence life is like to pique their interest The government always bangs on about how important defence service is well prove it. You'd never have recruiting issues ever again by employing the above a serious benefit for a serious commitment. Soldiers Sailors and Airmen get sweet FA at the end of the day. once all is said and done they get very little in the way of tangible benefits. they dont realise why theyre not getting recruits ?
If ADF wants to solve this dilema....
can name a few reasons :
    1.
they forced, coerced or used other means or threats to get thier mlilitary personel jabbed during the covid pandemic.
    2.
they dont need to fight other peoples wars.
if they send our soldiers over to europe to fight the coming Nato/Russia/Turkey war then dont expect many survivors
    solution
    1. Make a National , public apologyto the Australian military personel and to the Australian public for the brutal/tyranical methods used to force people to get jabbed.
    2.
Promise to the Australian people and defense recruits that the ADF will never enact such a method again or to coerce people to do things against their free will.
    3.
    Eat good food
    4.
Provide real support to those who have been injured or families or those killed during any wars.

It goes further than a strong defense force, you also have to have a strong and robust manufacturing force with the skills to operate it. We have neither, having given that advantage away so many years ago, to the very adversary that we fear, China. Don't think America can save our arse, they are in the same boat, but don't know how to keep their mouths shut, preferring the bully diplomacy that has caused this tension in the world we are experiencing. The western world is years away from being able to fight a major conflict because of stupid policies of the past and present and to putting the good of the lobbyists before the good of the country and it's people.

I agree. With China moving in the direction of war with Taiwan, we need more people to serve in the military.
But that's going to difficult when we have an education system that constantly berates Australia and only looks at the bad elements of its history. Sure, Australia has made a lot of mistakes in it's past history, but mentioned ONE nation that doesn't have any wrong doings in their past?
