In this documentary Karina Vetrano went out for a jog one evening in her neighbourhood of Howard Beach, New York City. When she didn't return, searches began and later an investigation. This led to Chanel Lewis, a man who confessed but there has always been scrutiny about that.

Jesus, I can’t even imagine the hell of that day for her father. He was already in pain, then he searched for his baby and found her body at 11pm. @@raizeline they didn't say they removed tooth fragments. When interviewed later, the doctor said it could have been tooth fragments. Nothing was ever tested or confirmed and it's not like he looked closely at the time he treated him because at that time, this guy wasn't connected to the murder at all. The doctor probably hadn't even heard about it at that point. You know what else can pass for fragments of teeth? Gravel. What I'm wondering is how did he beat her so hard that her teeth were broken and her face all busted up but still was able to use his hand enough to strangle her. Because it almost seems like it can't be both. If someone beat her like was des robed, I have serious doubts about their ability to then use that same hand to strangle the woman, which takes both hands and a lot of strength, especially if they're fighting, which she was.

This story just breaks my heart... and I have personal experience that happened when I was in university: a girl from my dorm disappeared off of a bike path while training for the NY Marathon, later found dead. Didn't know her, never met her... at the age of 17 it was a bucket of cold water on the head regarding the reality of life in this sick, sad world.
(I am surprised to hear that only 92% of women worry about their safety while running. I hope the other 8% are MMA warrior women.)
Thank you, Mike, for so much insight into who Karina was. She sounded like a bright, compassionate young woman and I can't imagine the depths of grief her family must still feel.

I appreciate the warm and personal touch you add to your videos. You’re usually talking about murder but you make it less gruesome somehow. I’m going to give this video a “geuwh”.

This case haunts me. I can't imagine how her father feels. As a mom, I get upset when my kids get a tiny booboo or my older one gets her feelings hurt. I can't imagine finding any 3 of them dead & in that condition. I don't want to imagine it. I'm bawling my eyes out imagining HIM feeling that pain.
Rest in peace, beautiful Karina. May your spirit bring your father & other loved ones a tiny bit of comfort.
