When it's wet particularly, or anytime really, building your fire on a sheet of aluminum foil keeps the moisture from coming up out of the ground and also reflects heat back up into the center of the fire to keep it going.

love these walmart pickups and budget gear videos. When I first got into bushcrafting and just camping in general I was very intimidated by gear prices, at the time I didnt have a dream of affording any premium gear. Its important to show people that you dont need million dollar kit to enjoy the outdoors. Even if its just some firestarters! Cheers Walker.

It’s nice that people are trying to save a few bucks (having read comments). I get that. BUT this is not about what is cheapest, but what works the best. This is prewrappped, handy, and you KNOW it will work. I would suggest that if someone has an idea to make your own fire starter, to try it out BEFORE you find yourself in a life threatening situation. This is about saving your life, not saving money. I posted this video on a website I follow about a young man who disappeared in WA state hiking the PCT. if he had had this he might still be with us today. I hope it saves lives. Thanks for the great demo!!!

I recently just started watching your videos, and I've loved every one I've watched. I am not an outdoor / camping person (As a Redhead the sun hates me), although I love watching someone having fun doing what they love. Your videos are informative and awesome to people wanting tips, but for me it's soothing just to watch you set camp and do your thing. I've had many anxiety issues that you've helped me through because of your videos. Thank you for your content, it's helping more people than you think :)

I keep a couple of these and the Zip fire starters as well in my fire kits. I did a comparison between the Duraflame and the Zip... no major difference; both take off like a beast and they both last a very long time. Everyone should pickup some of either or both at Walmart. Awesome firestarters!
