TORNADO Shelter install. I thought it would be harder. (Southern Safe)

- We had a Southern Safe installed in our home and I had to sheetrock the maintenance room before they put it in. Once we sheetrock the room the shelter arrives and they are quick to install it. Good thing we had it installed when we did because a huge storm comes through just 5 days later and Tulsa gets hit hard with 100 MPH winds and our trailer gets to rocking and its time to use the new shelter (too early in my opinion)
Thank goodness that shelter was in place to keep y'all safe!! One more step closer to moving in to your new home!!! God Bless

Yes we did. We felt safe anyways.. even if nothing happened but it could have been real bad if we didn’t have it.
I don’t blame you I would not live in Oklahoma or anywhere in the Midwest or gulf states without a shelter. Good for you.

Hey Donavon i also have dexlexia. I wasn't diagnosed until Jr High. Some days are a struggle. So glad you got your safe room before that crazy storm we had. Blessings

I have an above ground tornado 🌪 shelter bolted down just like that.
Hopefully you done ever have to use yours as well. But good on you for getting one.

I have dyslexia but it only seems to happen with numbers. Which can be a real bitch when you are an electrician. I have to triple and quadruple check my calculations sometimes 😂😂😂

Probably should’ve put washers under the parts that were higher than others, also I’m pretty sure torquing them in sequence is something that maybe important so it puts pressure on it even. Other than that exactly how I did mine!
It is my prayer that this one room is never used for its intended purpose. But if it gets used I hope it works as tested.

I would build mine outside, close to home but far enough away so debris would not trap me and/or a large fire would not trap me inside and bake me, out in back yard, underground, 2 entry/exit ports. 8 feet deep, 12 feet long, 6 feet wide, concrete walls and 8" thick re-bar enforced concrete lid, 2 steel trap doors- one on each end.
That would be great if I had an extra 25k as well but that just wasn’t in our budget and something is better than nothing. Maybe in future we may have an in ground safe room.
My son has Dyslexia. He overcame it but it was really hard in school bc they didn’t catch it until he was 12 yrs. old. It made school really, really hard‼️👎🏼😂😅👍☀️ 👵🏻

Hilty two part epoxy, and large drop in bolts. Then once it sets they torque it to 90 ft pounds.
