the second that she does that accent...wow, Rue was gone and there was Blanche again. just wow. she was truly an amazing actress. RIP Rue, we all miss you!
oh wow! first time i've ever heard Rue's real voice. and i totally agree with not using your own walk/talk/etc for a role. it needs to be original and different, or else there is no effort in playing the part.
She's an expert. Watching the show this whole time, I had no clue that accent was fake I hella thought she really came from Atlanta or something lol. Go Rue!
So sad that we are down to only one Golden Girl still being here with us. What a sad day it will be when we are on this earth without any of them. For sure, those 4 characters will live on for MANY years to come. I wouldn't give up my DVD set for anything. I put a disc in and let it play whenever I'm cleaning or doing odds and ends around the house. Just to have them in the background is great and So very comforting! They just don't make em' like that anymore. Hot in C is great, but its no GG :(
I'm so sad she passed. I really loved this group of ladies. Betty White is so special and loved at our house. She really made me smile when she spoke like Blanche. What a treasure! A lot of children have lost some grandmas with their passing.
I didn't know her accent was fake either! I found that out like a few weeks ago! I miss the three that died, though! Betty White 90 years old and still going strong!
Thanks for posting. I loved them. They are still laugh out loud funny!!! Literally!!! The humor is timeless like "all in the Family" and "The Jefferson." Much of Normal Lears projects were great!! Not something you'd always agree with, but you'd always think about and appreciate.
Unfortunately, Rue, Bea and Estelle (actors of Blanche, Dorothy and Sophia) have already passed away. Just Betty White (Rose) is still alive. R.I.P. Rue, Bea & Estelle ♥
She along with the other ladies had true talent. Today the actors are outdone by animated effects. While neat or cool comedic timing can't be taught or bought. I miss the ladies. I'm glad Betty is doing so well
Its sort of ironic, but Atlanta is really not very "Southern", especially today.. Its not your typical Southern city. You can go for months and never hear a Southern accent- and you definitely don't find any "Blanche Deveauxs" there anymore.
@Mike6E You said it perfectly! She inspires me to put more thought and meaning into the way I speak. Instead of just speaking pure Oklahoman (I'm from OK too) . :)
Of course, it's because you yourself are Southern. When I was in Texas, people would always comment on my Chicagoan accent, but to this day I have yet to notice that I have one. lol
You mean to tell me this woman faked that accent??? It was flawless! And really unique too. Amazing actress.
It's amazing that when she puts on the "southern charm" she becomes the character moving her mouth and eyebrows just like Blanche! True acting!
Blanche's accent has always been one of my favorite things on the show. Rue was more than great, she was phenomenal
When she puts on that southern accent, it's like she gets 20 years younger.
You see her as Rue, her own person. Then she turns on that accent and it's a magical transformation: she's become Blanche again. Is that something?
the second that she does that accent...wow, Rue was gone and there was Blanche again. just wow. she was truly an amazing actress. RIP Rue, we all miss you!
It was magic. She was Blanche. I was waiting for her to say "Now excuse me, Mr. Interviewer, but I have a date with the cameraman."
It's so weird seeing her talk without the southern accent. She spoke it so well, I thought she was southern.
She was a genius, I wish she was still here, same with Estelle and Bea.
So sad that only Betty White is left. I loved the Golden Girls! Rest in Peace Rue.
Rue was also a linguist who spoke fluent German.
MY GOD HOW I MISS HER!!!
So do I Miss her!!
That explains it! I always wondered why in the pilot she sounded...weird. I wish Rose had a Minnesota accent. Sophia's accent was great!
oh wow! first time i've ever heard Rue's real voice. and i totally agree with not using your own walk/talk/etc for a role. it needs to be original and different, or else there is no effort in playing the part.
still watching them every night on the Hallmark channel ! so comforting !!!!!!
She's an expert. Watching the show this whole time, I had no clue that accent was fake I hella thought she really came from Atlanta or something lol. Go Rue!
I loved hearing her do Blanche's accent! that story about her aunt Pearl's accent is funny! i miss her :( R.I.P
I miss Rue.... she lives on

I love Rue and I love Blanche, and I love their accents ^^actress and character ^^ she is wonderful
Whenever I watch the show, it feels like they're still alive! :D RIP Rue, Bea and estelle, and I hope we have Betty for a long time to come! :)
I'm so sad she passed. I really loved this group of ladies. Betty White is so special and loved at our house. She really made me smile when she spoke like Blanche. What a treasure! A lot of children have lost some grandmas with their passing.
omg this just made my night. what a boss lady!
There's no day that passed that I did not miss Rue. :'( So much respect for her.
I love the way Rue played Blanche! And I love Rue herself, so much! RIP
RIP Rue, Blanche was my favorite
Love ya Rue, you're the best, so inspirational and you're missed very much (:
R.I.P Rue McClanahan/Blanche Devereaux
Ohhh Rue, we all miss you honey
Rue is brilliant. I love her!
she is my favorite golden girl. I thought she was hillarious.
thats so super cool!
I didn't know her accent was fake either! I found that out like a few weeks ago! I miss the three that died, though! Betty White 90 years old and still going strong!
she is so beautiful inside and out. rest in peace rue and also estelle and bea
I don't like her... I LOVE that woman! Rue/Blanche has entertained me my entire life.
Adore this woman! R.I.P Rue
OMG I know right? I so believed she was southern too. Rue was a brilliant actress
For some reason I always thought Blanche was from New Orleans; I guess I had her confused with Blanche DuBois from "A Streetcar Named Desire."
she did a Great Job!!
So sad thats she's passed on. Still watch the golden girls. I love Blanche ! Rip Rue, Estelle & Bea -3
Someone explain to me why at 2.17 when Blanche appears it gives me goose bumps?
she is so beautiful inside and out
A true actress!
#RIPRueMcClanahan
I hear a Virginia accent here. She was a wonderful talent. Also interesting to hear her native accent, not that of Blance Deverau.
"She didn't think she was funny, but I thought she was funny."
You can hear a little bit of a southern accent in her voice when she played Vivian on Maude I think.
so talented
What a lady.

love her
Not only them,We also miss Beatrice Arthur and Dorothy Zbornak as well as Estelle Getty and Sophia Petrillo ! :)
I didnt know it was fake untill I saw this. Wow! Amazing!
Thank you so much for sharing! She was always my favorite.
Brilliant!
Totally agree, I wasn't expecting that. This was a treat to watch.
She along with the other ladies had true talent. Today the actors are outdone by animated effects. While neat or cool comedic timing can't be taught or bought. I miss the ladies. I'm glad Betty is doing so well
2:14 to 2:32 Blanche Deveraux is still alive!
miss u

my rolemodel
I'm so glad they got rid of both Jay Sandrich and the gay house keeper after the pilot.
Yes, we do.
It did the same thing to me too!!!
miss u ruee :(
@Mike6E
You said it perfectly! She inspires me to put more thought and meaning into the way I speak. Instead of just speaking pure Oklahoman (I'm from OK too) . :)
I always wondered why she sounded different after the pilot.
I know right !!! I saw her on Maude as Vivianne and I didn't even recognize her without the accent
RIP.
@Mike6E so very true! I thought the exact same thing!
BOGART
Was the gay housekeeper even supposed to go anywhere in the show... Like even have a point?
She never sounded Southern to me, but I'm from the South.
Of course, it's because you yourself are Southern.
When I was in Texas, people would always comment on my Chicagoan accent, but to this day I have yet to notice that I have one. lol
Was Rue your favorite Golden Girl?
i always thought it was real
BED.................. hehehe
The Golden Girls? They've all died except Betty White.
Betty White is the only one still alive. :(
