I was at my local public RC field and I went to check that my remote ID was working, and it was, but “shockingly” it was the only one detected in the area, despite there being at least 6-7 planes and quads in the air at the time. I asked a couple of the old guys about it and they had no idea what I was talking about. It was then I realized I watch too much TH-cam.

I solved the spotter problem by taking my dog with me whenever I fly. Unlike human spotters, he knows where my drone is at all times, even when BVLOS. He serves a security role by keeping nasty humans a safe distance away to prevent interference during remote aircraft operations.
Your vlog style has come together really nicely. The actual editing is well done, I like the brief cuts to other things ala the bike and your puppers, and the general flow of the video is on point. "You art good bro"
Nice video! At early days I always have a spotter but as the days go by I found out that FPV is a good stress therapy for me, therefor today I fly alone because I need to fly whenever and wherever I want, mostly before going to work. I also can measure if the flight would be safe or not by me alone, how quiet is the place etc, honestly unlike what FAa thought, the need of observer is more to for my own safety, I cant really see if a bad guy coming to me and rob me but I also can see it if I want using my drone.
The regulations are just insane. The 107 requirement for RID on _all_ size quads is insane. I'm having a great time flying my Meteor65 indoors this winter. I still go outdoors to scratch the freestyle itch, but I only have one quad over 250g (self-build Bee350Pro with O3) which (ug) I guess I'll put RID on. I'll think long and hard before getting another >250g. I'd love to try a 5" sometime, but my Crux35+Vista is just a screamer, so I'm pretty satisfied with the flying bases I have covered.
The DJI mini3 pro automatically broadcasts if you use the larger battery. If you use the smaller battery its under 250g and wont broadcast. This means that if you use the large battery, you need to register the drone or an unregistered drone is broadcasted. Since the small batteries dont broadcast, and if you already registered it for the large batteries, you are required to fit a separate module which also must be registered if you use the small batteries, because any registered drone, even if under 250g, must have remoteID. In other words, you have to register the same drone twice just for switching batteries.
The police claimed my LR Chimera7 quad with 18000 Mah of battery capacity was over 250 grams and I though, you know those guys have a point. But we put it on the scale and whaddayou know as long as you have some battery left and with a tidbit of trottle the weight stays nicely under 250 grams.

Theoretically most local flying fields should be getting a remote id exception so they won't care, probably designed to not get the elders upset

What does remote id increase about safety? Not a thing.
Remote ID is a beta test for government surveillance and control of all citizens!
Its never truly about safety as it is about Control... This goes for many things that are enforced and regulated by the agencies.
