Depends on if you value some of the most important developmental years of your child over some credit card debt that barely matters in her situation. Public schools can be horrible places to send you kids depending on the school
$27K is beatable. I was at $30K in April of 2022. In January of 2024, I spent over $6K on a hair transplant, owed the IRS $800. And I got swindled out of $1,500 by my previous landlord. But as of Sep 2024, I'm now below $18K. With my current budget, that'll be down to $15K three weeks from now. And by Sep 2025, I'll have zero debt.
After watching Dave, had about 6k in cc debt paid it all off. I have 7k left in personal loan, I need that gone, stopped everything and I am going to kick that pl to 0, I have paid 1k in interest so far.
It's a whole mental thing, to pay off debt. To not use cc's unless its dire. Something is on sale and too good to be true purchase and you buy it, thinking how much you have saved. BUT training the mind to think that that purchase is just going to put you that much more into debt. To imagine the numbers in your bank account going up and the numbers of your cc balances going down...every single time you want to buy something. Its really nice when you change like that, when you look at things as a financial burden rather than a must have.
Probably living like one of my nieces. Buys supper on the way home already cooked ready to go and a bunch of junk food on the second stop. Spending hundreds on food a week instead of 50 or 60 bucks. She is netting over $5000 a month. Take away $2000 for rent, utilities, private school. Food for two should not be much.she should have $1500 a month to pay the debt. At least.
Her spending doesn't add up. 85k would be approx 4500 usd per month after tax. $500 per month private tuition for her son is only 10% of her net income. Rent only 800usd. That's still roughly 3k left, where on earth is it going if she only has $10 left?

The year has been really rough for everybody. But I've been able to cushion the effect though. Have you thought of using an investment advisor? They can make you good money especially during uncertain times like this.

I once put my 4000 cc bill on a zero interest for year Disney card. It worked for me. I never used that card again and they finally canceled it. The 18% was killing me and the car repairs and other things were taking too long to pay off. Discipline is needed for anything, weight loss, finance etc
I did the same thing. It helps a lot when you’re poor and maxed out.
This worked for me too. Got the new CC with 0% interest for 21 mths. 3:29 put all my other CC dept on it, and figured out how much money in each month I had to pay in order for the dept to be paid off in that 21 mth time frame. Working like a charm for me.

This is why Dave Ramsey has a "one size fits all" system - his system will work for the weakest *AND* the most disciplined, it's not as efficient as it could be for the most disciplined but if he gives different advice based on ability it dilutes the overall message for those who need it the most.

It isn't "the most efficient" but it isn't about math. Debt isn't a math problem, it is a consequence of overspending, which is a behavior / addiction.
@@laz7354 Sometimes debt *_IS_* a math problem, but in most cases that Dave Ramsey deals with it is a behavioral problem.
I need to be patient and trust the process..i decided enough....i have to get over the fact its not going to happen right away...to not give up

@@reese85 that’s too much bro. All I eat is beef and rice and occasionally fast food
@@reese85 meh you could easily do 60 a week. Just can't be eating steak.
I wonder if there is a way to revisit these people and see how many followed through the baby steps.
I’m in the EXACT same situation.
“Katy Lies
You could see it in her eyes
But imagine my surprise when I saw you “
She is netting over $5000 a month.
Before you make a big financial decision, think, "What would Dave Do?" lol
I bet shes not cooking at home and eating a lot of that money by ordering everything out.
Not sure why they mention gross you don't get to spend gross budget off take home probably closer to 66k. I'm thinking she has expensive car she isn't mentioning. Seen so many weirdos with 950 car payment.
