- I have been using timer plugs for a few years now to control my lights to go on at specific times. They are a great gadget/tool which come at a very cheap price and work flawlessly without any hassle. I find the mechanical plug to be one of the most useful home gadgets one can get. And the best thing is that it is super easy to setup which anyone can do.
This video is about how to use one. Hope it is helpful for anyone looking to get one.
I have also left a few links below for different types of timer plugs.

I always wondered how this thing actually used. It's great for automatic light on off.
Thank you! 🙏 Initially I wasn’t sure either as I originally had an old one sitting at home. But once I figured out, it has proven to be a great and reliable old fashioned gadget. I use it for lights, heating and many other things these days. Never lets me down unlike some things I have that rely ok wifi.
Thanks very much, Explained well, and works great..appreciated
Welcome. Glad I was able to assist. 🙏

Welcome!
Can you use energy saving bulb with it?
You should be able to as it’s only a timer.
Very helpful. Thank you 👋
Thank you for your help.
Welcome! Glad to help. 🙏

Thank you!
very helpful. Thank you
Welcome 🙏
Should make a sound when is active?…the one i have is working but even makes a sound not very loud but you can hear it.
Yes a very low sound. Like clicking clock sound.
Thank you very much. Extremely kind of you:)
Welcome! And thank you for your kind words.
hi sir! thank you for this. I would like to ask if it will be okay to use in a 18cubic chest freezer, is it okay?
It should be fine. You can use this for anything that has a plug. I use it for lights as well as small portable heaters to set times when I want them on and off.
Hi. Thanks for the nice explanations. Does the plug make a mechanical noise when the time advances? If so, is it very loud? I'm assuming it is changing every 15 minutes?
You can hear a small amount of noise but it’s not that loud. I guess it depends on different timers. I can hear slight noise when it’s silent but it doesn’t bother me. Thank you 🙏
I’ve just found out that electricity tariff is 4 times cheaper starting from 11pm, looks like with this thing I’ll be paying even less then last year
Oh wow! That’s fantastic. I didn’t even know that. Thank you 🙏
Do you have to re-do the same setup every 24 hours?
Nope. Once it’s set for specific time then it keeps that schedule until you change it. Just keep in mind that if electricity goes out for whatever reason, you will have to reset the time again. Hope that helps.

Yes 👍🏼 true

Hi , what about the button on the side, where should it be positions?? Up or down??thanks
@@cipita97 one is to have the power continuously on and the other to set it on timer. Have a look on your manual to see which one is which. It depends what situation you need it for.
Is it safe to set up and leave on whilst away on holiday for 2 weeks 🤔
I would say yes because I have had mine set for a very long time and leave it setup even during holidays. Not had any issues.
Hi 👋🏻 I live in Canada ! And I just bought a mechanic timer ! Defiant brand name. ! Pretty much the same !
On which u showed a demo ??
My question is. ? I want to use it for my fish aquarium ! To put on at 10 am and switch off at 7 pm . That’s it !
Please 🙏 advice ! How to operate it ! Thanks hector thanks 😊
Hi! You should be able to use it on your aquarium. Mine is a LIDL supermarket brand one. I have explained on the video how to set it if it is similar one to mine. You just make sure you set the correct time (clock time), then you can set the timing you want.
Set correct time ( clock time ) then set timing I want . Explain please ?
@@hectormisquith9844 you need to set time on the timer. Look at your watch or clock to see what time it is now to set the time. After that you can set the timer to your desired time. You can see it in the video. 😊
I just bought this very same timer today. I’m so pleased to find someone explaining so well how it works. Thank you.
Thank you! Hope it will be as useful to you as it has been for me. Glad that I was able to help you. 🙏
Sir, can i set the mechanical timer switch example: i want a certain appliance on for 4 hours and will turn off for 4 hours and will go on again and so fort? Will the timer function like that the way i want it?
Thank you sir...
@@jungladztv2663 yes it will. Just make sure that you do now switch off the power on the wall because the timer will then switch off. As long as there is power, you can set it to go on and off whenever you want.
Can the timer be turned off at the socket,,after a device eg, battery, bulb, dil, has been charged,,and will the time reset itself or does it have to be done physically,,,,,
There is no on off button on the timer but for example if you set it up to only turn on between 5-7pm then it will only work during those times. Once you set the times, you will have to leave it on because turning off power means you will have to manually reset the time again when you turn it on next time. I hope that made sense.
Totally ,,thanks,,,
Do you set it on timer after it is set
You can do it while plugged in and turned on. Yes! I normally do it after it’s set.
is this safe to use in my old window type aircon?
I am not sure what you mean but should be fine as long as you can plug it in.
@@sandeepraiphotography2111 what i mean is it electricity safe and won’t damage my aircon because this device doesn’t really turn off the aircon on its controller, instead it just cuts off the source of it’s power to work. meaning to say this device is like pulling on and off the aircon’s plug to turn it off and on
@@geniusprojectfiles aah I see what you mean. I have personally never tried on the aircon so would not be able to advise you on that. But I have had this on my garden lamp, portable electric heater and night light for 2 years now and not had any issues. Yes it doesn’t turn off the power at source but that’s how they seem to work. I also have smart plugs which do the same thing. They also do not turn off the power at source but only via the plug. You may need to do a bit more research on aircon usage.

te your reply mate thanks~!
@@geniusprojectfiles welcome! Anyway I can help.
Thank you, the instructions the box are terrible ❤
Welcome! Yes, manuals and instructions these days are not really good I can confirm.
I Just received my timer today, thank you for the explanation 🙂
Welcome. I hope it will be useful for you as it has been for me.
Mine the timer didnt work. Even after I plug it, the timer stay still at the exact same number when I left.
Maybe you have a faulty one? Or does your time have an on/off switch?
My timer has stopped working. Unable to change the time. Dial is stuck. Thanks
Oh no! How long have you had it for? Mine is still going. Maybe something is broken inside?
