  • Got to film 114 doing the whole area today, starting around 1pm. Pretty unusual to only have one truck on recycle these days. Happy I got another good video of 114, its usually in Glenorchy on Mondays I believe but this driver took it out to Kingston/Taroona today. Had it on garbage this morning as well but 67 was also out in the area this morning, as I thought would be the case this afternoon.
Decided that being a bit of a rare instance of this truck and a completely full run, I decided to throw it all up into one big video as I know some will enjoy that, feel free to watch over a few days as it is pretty long. There is some exhaust shots towards the end, and the photos are at the end of run.
Being our newest truck, its in pretty good condition, noticed a few things that I pointed out in the photos at the end, being a few missing things, the grabbers also seemed a little bit loose but not too bad, the spill shield was also a little bit misaligned but I don't think it was loose at all. It was pretty refreshing to hear a healthy stock Euro 5 ISL as well, the older trucks are starting to sound their age, where this ones only just 4 years old. It would be one of the last Euro 5 Acco with a GenV body combo, the last batch of Euro 5s mostly had Gen6 bodies. I only noticed today that it doesn't have the Bucher wording on the tailgate either.
Thanks to the driver for letting me film.
    Cheers!

I will admit, it did take me a few days to get though this one, broke it up into 15min parts. I think its good to have a long video like this one every once in a while, Quite an enjoyable watch over the last few days. Interesting little truck this one, E5 facelift bucher, and Veolia was very much in a volvo era around the time they got this. Nifty little truck this one, a classic euro 5 acco, gotta love the visor. Small 18m looks weird on recycle, funny to think that veolia have a massive 35m spak running around there (71119 If I'm not mistaken) Love the 140s, but theres a few 240s around I noticed.
    Thanks for the upload.

Thanks mate, no problem, didn't expect anyone to watch the whole thing in one go haha. It's a nice little truck, not many mint Euro 5s around anymore. They sure were, reckon they got a good deal being one of the last Euro 5s and GenVs as they loved Volvos then. Haha I can imagine it being pretty odd from seeing 29ms all the time, this truck does recycling all the time, 18 is enough for around here though, holds more than one neighbourhood worth. The 35m Spak is up in trevallyn, big area up there and it can get it done in one run. It is 71119, I believe 71121 is the newest truck we have, Ivecos unfortunately. No dennis' here yet. The 140Ls look cool bit can be a pain for bigger households, some have upgraded to 240L, there was talk from council of doing a 240L roll out when fogo started but never happened, don't know if it's still in the books or if they want to charge people still. Cheers mate!

Do you think recycling should be streamlined instead of mixed/commingle what I mean is Bottles and containers in yellow lid bins and paper and cardboard in separate blue lid bins!
Personally streamlined recycling is better and how it should be done than mixed/ comingale due to less contamination which is shocking in mixed/comingale recycling!

I definitely think that is the way to go, seems to work well where it is implemented, especially if they're going to insist on using small bins. Considering the paper and cardboard can be easily recycled locally, it would make sense to have it separated. The commingled system down here doesn't work too well due to high contamination and a lot of people opting out entirely, I think a separate paper and cardboard bin would encourage/increase the recycling of that material.
