  • Our "Creator" video series puts the spotlight on 21st Century builders, tinkerers & inventors. These are people working on novel products, services & technologies with the aim to positively impact society.
During this episode we spent some time with creator Tim Hutzinger at a warehouse in the "Arts District" section of Los Angeles. He talks about his background in industrial design and how it led him to founding Xoto, his novel electric moto. Riding this vehicle was unlike anything we experienced. Check out the video and the links below to learn more about Tim and Xoto.

Congratulations, Tim!! I wish you much success with this. I remember years ago with your sketchbook sketching out cars!

I dont get it. What is the point of having two wheels in the back? The danger when riding a two wheeled vehicle is when the front tire slips away from you. This vehicle doesn't help with that. Or am I missing something?

Yes, you are, and not stated is when you lean the rear is actually steering also. It is a lean steer concept like a skateboard. That makes front and rear steering at the same time, all-wheel steering.

Hey Felix, We get the question of "why 2 in the back" a lot but front wheel slip is definitely not the only issue on a two wheeler. High sides, low sides and loss of traction on either of the contact patches will result in stability loss and possible accident. Even as experienced riders, I think we all could still use a smart suspension, front wheel drive and stability control around town. Based on countless prototypes over the last 3 decades if you try to pack steering, suspension and lean mechanism into the front wheels you get a lean limit of 30 degrees, not enough lean for a natural motorcycle riding experience at speeds over 20mph while we are getting 45 degrees.

I do food deliveries, done over 70,000 miles, between a vespa and a Honda 125. I have to agree the greatest risk is from the front wheel.
I've never come off because the back wheel slipped, it's not a big deal. Lose the front and down you come.
I think it's an awesome looking scooter, but what problem is it really solving? IE can you still lose the front wheel on a man hole cover, when it's dark and raining.

@@1960ARC I see where you are going here. In a typical rear wheel drive scooter the front end sliding out probably is more common than the rear breaking loose. Keep in mind this scoot is front wheel drive. So the front is developing the traction the rear is following and providing stability. For the front to slip away it would have to pivot both rear wheels.
