    Great 2-part series. Can you use this analysis to make one more? A few interesting observations. 1. Right knee stays inside right foot on backswing and left knee barely passes middle of left foot on downswing, 2. If a perpendicular line was drawn through the ball and intersecting the target line the center of the hip moves slightly beyond ball towards target at impact, 3. During “drift” the spine is moving laterally towards target. Regarding point 3, it would be interesting to see front facing and overhead views of this should movement using a triangular plane connecting the shoulder joints to the base of the spine / center of hip point. Please let me know your thoughts if possible. Thank you very much for such an informative series. Your team and technology are amazing!

    Seeing that has really clarified the way the pressure builds in the backswing vs how it amost instantaneously swaps in transition. As you say in the video this combining of motion and force is incredibly powerful. You've changed my focus in practice from the technical to the athletic - the footwork, pressure and moving the hip and rib centres together - and the time and space dimensions you talked about in the previous video. Many thanks for this ground-breaking information.

    Another great and informative video Mike. Don't know who the pro' is but he has a really 'clean' pressure trace back and forth (Luke List?) As someone earlier commented, it's amazing how early the 'transition' weight shift is compared to most Am's. I tried this and the 'stretch' I felt across my mid- back especially was akin to feeling like powerful rubber bands were being stretched. The result was truly effortless power and adding easily one club distance to all my clubs. Three other thing I noticed, I felt better balanced throughout, I felt like I had so much more time (through early posting on the front leg) and my ball striking (pure shots) increased significantly. Great job Mike.

    I like the way your combination of technologies shows the right knee moving to a position inside the right ankle and directly over the end of the pressure trace at the top of the back swing with the left hip over the forward pressure trace. At the same time, the left hip then can be seen to lead the forward track of the forward pressure trace in the late stages of the transition and the beginning of the downswing. Along with your analysis of the correct hip and left knee movements this has helped my pivot concept tremendously. I was doing exactly what the Am was doing - shifting the right knee to a position over the arch of my right foot at the top. So, I had no hope of getting my left hip on the right track in the downswing. Maybe you could do another one of your illuminating PvA bones videos on the left and right knee movements at some stage.

    Really like the addition of the pressure/cg trace. Really helps to fill out the picture, and is probably really good for guys who learn better by recreating feels, but don’t know what they’re supposed to be feeling. Interesting thing to note is that while the player floats left early in the transition, the pressure stays in the right foot.

    Great Video combination. Another aspect that I was wondering about is the horizontal force vectors particularly in the initial segment of the back swing. Could these also be overlaid on the foot pressure and bones features of this swing. If applicable, this would give a better impression as to how of the foot pressures are actually directed in attempting to create the correct turning movement of the hips and pelvis at the beginning of the back swing. This is my biggest struggle. I can move the club back correctly on plane to the first parallel position, but I am quite sure my hips are following a very amateur path as I do so!

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We don't currently have force vectors, but that will most likely change in the not to distant future.

  • @golferiam6533
    @golferiam6533 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've watched both videos and tried "shadow boxing" the hip movements as described. I went to the range and felt somewhat successful with the move and I noticed a significant increase in distance. My errors were2-fold. When I pulled left hip back, the error was what felt like a left hip spin out and a pulled shot and when I tried to limit the left hip, the result was usually a weak push fade. What I was trying to do was keep my hips between my feet during the swing. Tomorrow I want try to let the left hip slide more over to very slightly ahead of the left foot as the hip keeps turning back over and past the left heel. I think that move will delay the chest and arms so that I don't throw the club to the left. What do you think about correction?

  • @1DCCX

    A lot of the focus is on the body, moving it more athletically, the manner in which it moves and you provide great drills and sometimes just the insight into what to do to make transformative changes. Which is great.
    However, if you feel you have lost your sense of feel for ‘swinging the club’, i.e. a sense that you feel it in your hands and arms, how do you get it back? How important in your opinion, is it to get it back? Should ‘swinging the club’ be a primary feel that trumps ‘feeling the body’? Or should how the ‘body feel’ be primary?
    Thanks

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both need to move well enough to hit the shots you want to play, BUT both don't typically need to be thought about. Feeling the club is pretty important. If that's lost, it would be a good idea to get it back. It's an interesting question because there isn't one right way (body feel or club feel) for all golfers. It's really player dependent as to which you should focus on, but I'm having a hard time thinking of a good player who doesn't have a feel for what the club is doing.

  • @MG-ro7nl
    @MG-ro7nl 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I notice in the transition from backswing to downswing, he is shifting his weight to his front foot/ towards the target while his back is still facing the target. Is this a good swing thought to have? I’m a low handicap player who struggles w/ early extension and sometimes the shanks. Now that I have seen these two videos, this seems very different than what I do. I feel like as I complete my backswing I try to shift my weight to the front foot but I also immediately begin to rotate my hips. I feel like this rotation is bringing me closer the ball and I am losing that space that you talk about. Maybe keeping my back toward the target longer would help? Thanks! Very cool videos!

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you're on the right track, MG. Really work on the sequencing of those moves. Once that's in place, the rotation away from the ball will happen for you much easier and "naturally."

    A pair of classic videos. I believe that you stress that the hips pivot up a bit as they turn back (Left on backswing, right on downswing). Do you have a horizontal GEERS view that shows this in synchronization with the top view and/or pressure trace?

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Can u explain what you mean by “pivot up” so I can best answer your question? 🤓

    • @robrichards7983
      @robrichards7983 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AthleticMotionGolf Many of golfers think of the hips pivoting on a horizontal plane (around the right hip or, as you show using GEERS, around the spine in better players). I believe that AMG made the point that the right hip turns back and a few degrees above the horizontal plane (more on a plane perpendicular to the spine). Same for the left hip leading up to and after impact, I understand. It would be interesting to see how much above the horizontal plane they move among pros vs ams, if I am correct. If I am not correct, it would also be interesting to know what I misunderstood somewhere.

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robrichards7983 gottcha, thanks for the explanation. It sounds like you've got it all correct. I would add that the trail side of the pelvis only goes up a small amount, it's more about the lead side lowering. Both (lead rising, trail lowering) happen through impact.

    So maybe it’s not relevant to discuss where the pressure points are in the feet to make the point of clearing the hips, but I’d like to know if is relevant and why. What I am referring to is where the majority of the player’s weight is on the backswing and where it is on the downswing. It appears to be mostly on the balls of the feet at address, with emphasis on the insides of the feet in the backswing and downswing. If this is true I’m wondering if that is not a key to good balance and weight shift on the backswing, and balance and pivoting on the downswing. Maybe you have another video on this subject?

      AMG have done a video on this exact topic. I think it's one of their Swing Myth series. The myth being that the hands stay in front of the chest, ie not moving across the body (to use your term). The video shows that the arms move both up and across. You can have too much or too little of either, but you have have to do both.
