I'm so glad I somehow stumbled on this video. I have a non verbal autistic 8 year old son who's obsessed with instruments. He asked Santa last year for a trombone (he got a good used one), then I was left a professional accordion from a distant family member who passed away. Anyway he'll love this and I'll turn it into a project for his whole classroom (just 6 students currently) that starts next Weds. From one dad to another, thank you so much
You are welcome. Have you had your classroom project yet? How did it go? I have had scouts bring their horn in after all these years. All Good times. Good luck.
@@5LakesGarage in my area (western NY) school starts tomorrow. I've already emailed my son's teacher and she's down with this project. So far it looks like Monday will be the day for them to actually build them (and let the rest of the school hear them haha) .
I like this , I'm thinking about trying the bass sounding one . I make flutes out of bamboo and since pvc is cheap I might add sound holes to see if I can get some cool notes . It would sound like a saxophone I'll bet .
i did not think of that. i do have some tubes left over. maybe i need to do a follow up video on the different items you can use. plastic bag as a baseline, then tube, and what ever I can find. Thanks for the tip. Love this platform for knowledge sharing.
I had a friend who taught me how to use a piece of PVC as a didgeridoo. It works incredibly well. And I figured out how to make it sound like a vuvezela with more forceful blowing. Much to the dismay of my cats and neighbours. I could never get the dang circular breathing down, though. In order to get a steady sound out of the didgeridoo, apparently you have to somehow breathe in through your nose, while continuing to breathe out through your mouth. Which I kind of get, if I fill my mouth with air I can get maybe a second to inhale, but it runs out before I can take a proper breath.
I think a didgeridoo would sound better. :) I am not sure if I could master the circle breathing any time soon. good luck on trying. We have it planned for our troop to make them next month. I am sure i will be getting some hate mail from some of the parents. thanks for watching.
yes. the first time we did them was in cub scouts. I still get parents ask me. Why did you do that? Too good. So i did it again with the troop. Just in case they could not find their old one, they would have a fresh one. I am sure they just love me. :)
Pretty close. I would not mind putting a cone on it to fine tune it for the truck. Just have not had the time. :) I know my neighbors LOVE me. Thanks for the watch. I have a few more ideas on the list for PVC creations.
@@5LakesGarage 👍🏻😊 You can also use a second tube, inside which the outlet tube fits... When you telescoping the outer tube (like on a trombone) you'll have different sounds 😁 Optionally, you can add a large plastic funnel to the edge of outlet, (like the ones we use to transfer liquids into bottles) this will make the sound louder
Correct. you just need a lot of Lungs. :) I do plan on doing a short but hook it up to the big compressor. Day job getting in the way. Thanks for watching.
it is still pretty loud, it is just a lower pitch. It is not as ear piercing as the little ones. I made one with a 3" pipe and it started to get hard to blow.
Thanks Kyle. I really did not get a lot of fans from the parents when I did it for the scouts. WOW that was loud. There were a few times where they had them in the car and would blow them when I saw them out in town. Good times.
I went up to a 4 inch but needed a compressor to get enough air. I did not have enough. If you do, send me a link to the video. Would love to see it go off.
@@5LakesGarage for sure it would need a compressor. I would love to duplicate a D-6 ship horn. That would strip the paint off any intended victim. LOL!
Thanks for the sub. Need all we can get. :) we have two jeep projects to finish up. The Wagoneer needs the trans put back together and the the CJ needs lockers. Just need to find time to get in there. Thanks again
yes they did and still do. :) We did the same thing with the troop a few months ago. Everyone at the American legion Post knew we were there. Love it. we tried to make a band with an air horn, Bucket drum, and a CanJo. They might of needed more practice.
Nice. I still want to hook the compressor to it to see how loud we can get it. :) We will going back to the office soon maybe I will bring it but blame the idea on you. Thanks for watching.
Saw someone on tiktok with one of these and I wanted to see how to make it 😁
Me too 😂
Same
We are no longer on the Pack side of the house but I do plan on brining in supplies for these again. They love them
Thanks for watching.
Same. Time to annoy my neighbors.
Same lol

Thanks reaper. We try to have a good time.
Saw a dude on tiktok make a fog horn like this. Very good video!

That is a great idea. Let us know how it goes. My son plays the tuba and trumbone. Will see if he can make a tune. Good luck.
OMG this idea is much better than what I was planning! I was thinking about getting a drill air horn kit, but this is way better!
I still remember my scouts making them. I almost lost some den leaders that night. :) It is a fun build. Good luck
Who’s here from the Tiktoc boat guy?
If you use a bike tube instead of a plastic bag it makes it really loud and durable. It’s a little harder to blow but makes a really good sound.

Plz make a super loud fog horn from PVC, something that would rattle a 3 story building 😁
My son is a back to back state boys high school soccer champion. He is entering his Sr year. I'm so making this for all the goals he blocks
Rock on. YES. I am sure he will love it. :) Congrates on the championships.
The plastic hefty bag is more durable than one would think put funnels on the ones I made tuned them to D4 G4 makes good train sound
Nice. I have an onboard air on my truck. was thinking of rigging something up. Was thinking of some funnels. Thanks.
You had me at;
"It annoys the crap out of eveybody"

To cool thanks 😊 hell yea I've got the stuff in my pvc left over extra drawer !! About to try this out !!
It can get loud. :) I have had people ask if I can put it on my truck with my onboard air. I might give someone a heart attack. Have fun Man.
I like the idea I was saying get the car air motor pump and hook it up to the CVC bill
Dude, you can open holes on output tube, so you can play music, like a flute 😁
Awesome idea. did not think of that. I still have it on the shelf. Maybe i will try it out. thanks Yo

my boy plays the tuba and trombone. this sounds like a project I can bring him in on.
can you show us a video doing with compressed air?
I will try to do a short this weekend. Day job getting in the way. I will need some ear plugs. I am sure my neighbors are going to LOVE it. :)
@@5LakesGarageyup
Will different thicknesses or types of bags make different tones, for the same horn?
yes it will. The bag is what makes the sound wave. It sounds like an experiment is in order. I will see what I can put together.
cool job
Love it. it was crazy having so many scouts blowing them everywhere. I did not make a lot of friends with the parents that night
@@5LakesGarage I understand that. Been there and done that. I was a scout master about 40 years ago.
@@bearshield7138 Things are a little different now then it was 40 years ago. :) Thanks for your contribution to the scouts.
Tik tok brought me here some old guy on a boat built one
Tic tok made me do it lol
Very cool ! Thanks
We try. :) We did these for the scouts and imagine a bunch of these all over the place. Super loud.
If you go even bigger with all the parts will the sound get lower in pitch? Like a fog horn?
Correct. you just need a lot of Lungs. :) I do plan on doing a short but hook it up to the big compressor. Day job getting in the way. Thanks for watching.
Can you do a video on installing on a car or truck thanks
I did put air on the Tacoma. it could happen. I will put it on the list.
How load is the low pitch one
it is still pretty loud, it is just a lower pitch. It is not as ear piercing as the little ones. I made one with a 3" pipe and it started to get hard to blow.
Did you leave out end cap on parts list on purpose?
Not on purpose. Thanks for the catch. I have updated the description.
Thanks again.
You say you got it, but you don't seem to have any F40PH.
That's awesome

I'd love to scale this up to a 10-inch diameter for my vehicle.

Deep tone.clarinet
Spend another dollar or two and buy a 90-degree elbow for the air inlet so you can point the horn and look in the same direction!?
did not think of that. Thanks for the tip. I also wanted to put a cone on the end to see what that does.
I want a deep sounding one for my Kayak........
we did build one with a 3 inch pipe but It was harder to blow. But putting one on a Kayak would be killer.
@@5LakesGarage I liked you video and i see your in the Jeep family. You got a new sub from me.

I want one for my bicycle. I already installed a truck air horn on my motorcycle, But I want to make this pvc one with low pitch for my bike 😂🚲
Someone could make some cash selling parts kits for those too lazy to find the parts themselves.
Yep, spent half hour searching rona for some of these things
POV your from the tic tok video
I did everything but doesn’t work 😭😭
sorry to hear that. getting the pipe close to the plastic could be annoying. We have faith that you can get it to work.
Does a balloon work instead of a bag?
I don't see why it wouldn't. Might have to try it.
Thanks man I really appreciate your videos. Check outdoor boys too
Thanks Alex. We try to help when we can. :) Will check out the Outdoor boys. Thanks for the tip.
You have the cheapest supplies ever. Those would cost 5 times more in Finland..
Found my new side hustle.
Your children will rather take this thing away from you and will have fun themselves, annoying you and everyone around you! :D

@@5LakesGarage i just took one of those can horns apart. Used the air gun and created a seal with my gloves .. freaking loud 😂

but this is more fun. :) I did hook up a compressor to it and it was just a little too loud.

Not as easy to find the parts as I was led to believe. Frustrating afternoon
