There is an easier way of making sure you open your wrist thought in many clubs around the world. I've tried in the past to activate my wrist before hitting (to try to bend it back as far as I could) but that just messed up my spiking completely. What works much better is to make your wrist face the wall to the right of me (I'm a right handed player). If you watch grils serving float serves from a standing position, they often keep their wrists like that. The advantage is that you wrist opens up naturally and you don't have to think about it. Watch Anderson (from team USA) spiking and you'll see what I mean. Also, you don't wanna keep your wrist relaxed throughout the whole motion. When you contact the ball you might want to engage it actively a little so you actually have control over where the ball is going. You also add more force that way (be hitting surface being stiffer transfers more momentum into the ball). Think about hitting a ball with a paper Vs hitting a ball with a square of steal. Having said that, you can get the whipping effect only if you have your wrist relaxed until the very moment of contact. So you're better off starting with keeping it relaxed until you get more experience to time it out correctly. You might also need a higher contact point on the ball when you do that cuz you'll impart less spin. But if you watch strong spikes in slow motion, the ball only gets to spin once or twice (it doesn't have the space to spin more). So their hitting/spiking technique is a little different from their jump serving technique. Being on the net, you can hit flatter. The less spin you put on the ball, the faster it goes. Again, it depends a lot on the set, the block, your hight in terms of contact point and what you want to do with the ball. A flat hit is much harder to dig than a spinny one. Middle blockers usually hit pretty flat and it's a nightmare to dig those. It's much easier to dig a spinny ball from an outside hitter. You just put your platform there and the spin takes care of the rest. Probably the best online real tutorial that actually teaches you how to do the movement, not just recommend 'drills' is this right here: th-cam.com/video/jVLKq6iAdbc/w-d-xo.html The guy knows what he's talking about and he explains the mechanics of hitting: how force is generated and what's the best way to transfer that to the ball in such a way that you don't hurt your shoulder or whatever.
We need this practice and technique but the problem is lack of budget to buy vb ball. We bought vb ball but broke already, sorry for the english im from philippines.
This is a great idea , it's only a matter of putting it in to a great practice , but the challenge is only a ball , we are lacking the ball it's very expensive
Just found your channel, watched one video and immediately subscribed to your channel! You are sharing incredible knowledge! I am over thirty and recently started my volleyball journey, your videos are a real game changer for me! Thank you dear coach!
Can you make another video about hitting, expanding from this video with more focus on the timing and mindset to adapt the wrist into spiking in the Air? Also talk about how to bounce it please 🤩
thank you for this video. Im taking training randomly in my country nepal but i wanna know how many days we have to spike training, How many days block training, how many days weight training/strenth and how many days we have to take rest in a week? i don't have any idea. could you please make video about this? please make a video what to do sunday to saturday in a week. I wanna do training for a year or a few years.
It is not easy to answer🤔 But try to practise regularly and focus on every single touch👍 Pro players are practising 5x times a week, 2 times a day, so this is max😀
