@@D2DNYAC instantly if shorting to ground. Leave the megge connected after releasing the test butoon so the tester can discharge the line. The screen will show the voltage drop down to zero.

Crazy how just a contaminated system can show a bad Meg reading
That's usually what caused a low megger reading,, contamination = acid = higher oil conductivity and compressor windings insulation break down!
