You can see that over 1 km of NATM tunneling is already completed within 2 months of deployment. Station foundation in C1 package have also been commenced and therefore BKC station should be ready by a year from now. With 3 TBMs running for 17 km this also should not take more than 2 years as shafts are already excavated. L&T have focused majority of its manpower and machinery on C3 and work had been faster compared to gujrat section. On the other hand if you keep bilimora to surat section aside rest of all sections in gujrat have not progressed much during and after Lok Sabha elections.

This project is going off track. Looks like India cannot afford to buy Shinkansen trainsets. The Indian economy has not grown due to lack of structural reforms, which has stalled private investments. Most likely India will move to semi-HSR due to lower projected economy. Plus the Indian rupee will continue to depreciate making imports expensive. India is back to its usual low historical growth rates as the local politics and bureaucracy strangulates entrepreneurs, leading to the usual brain drain. Unless India does difficult structural reforms, it cannot afford quality cities and infrastructure.
@ not really. The railways officials clearly mentioned that the Japanese want a higher price for the train sets as the HSR got delayed from the original timeframe. It is possible however that due to late placement of order, Japanese firms have issues with supply chain timelines now. But that is hardly their fault.
