      @RichardsWorld  6 ปีที่แล้ว +58

      Oh. I didn't know this isn't the real Port of Spain. I figured the real part of the city would be the area with the tall buildings like this. Where is the real city? I'll pin your comment so others may give their opinion.

    • @vybz099
      @vybz099 6 ปีที่แล้ว +101

      That is part of the real city. Sigghss I do not know why people insist on seeing the bad in everything. I wonder if that guy is even from Trinidad and Tobago. I walked where you have walked during your visit here and I am telling you that it is part of our city.

      I have been to those streets you mentioned and yes they may be an eye soar to many but it is what it is. Remember this guy only spent a short time in Trinidad and Tobago but he did a decent job of showing a bit of our country.

    • @RichardsWorld
      @RichardsWorld  6 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      Yes. My fault is usually the planning. I already knew this area a little bit from my first trip in Trinidad. I was thinking about walking on the popular street with the restaurants, but everything is pretty far apart and I think the video would have been quite boring. I actually see and walk a lot more than I take video of.

    In response to all the negative comments regarding T&T and Jamaica, let’s recall we are all proud Caribbean people no matter what island we are from. Why are we disrespecting and badmouthing each other’s island? We are better than that.
    RESPECT is a word Jamaicans often tout, let’s do that, respect each other’s country and culture. No need to brag and boast about anything for things can change in an instant. Stop the comparisons. It’s not productive, humbling or helpful. It’s proving hateful and destructive. It’s spreading division, not unity.
    We are all Caribbean people, let’s keep celebrating each of our island’s uniqueness, economic developments, global contribution and our people’s national and international achievements. Don’t destroy the Caribbean love we have always enjoyed. RESPECT. Thank you.

      Venezolananatrini, I don`t know where you get this about school I don`t remember telling you about my past schooling how ever I went to school in both Trinidad and Canada. And I don`t know where you get the racist talk from I don`t jump on the racist wagon. In regards to the mass shooting in the USA I mention this to other girls as well I don`t know if I mention it to you. When ever there is mass killing of innocent lives it has to make world news. South Africa had 19,000 murders last year. there were no mass killings of innocent people so it didn`t make world news.
      Mexico had 29,000 murders last year it didn`t make world news and both countries have surpass the US, Canada, Europe and Australia. And I will state this again, the US has a gun culture if Trump decides to band guns he is a dead man. Another thing that you all don`t know is that many times with these mass shootings, the culprit has a mental problem. There is no country in the world that has a gun culture like the US it goes back in western times. They have done many surveys and most Americans in favor of the gun protection law.

    • @equams
      @equams 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Venezolanatrini, I have to get back to you I see you stop communicating well after reading my first letter to you, I notice I had used some strong words and now I am taking them back with a big Apology. First I am not a racist I don`t know what I said that give you that impression yes I am black but not a racist. Many blacks are, we always play the victim game because we were slaves, all races were. I also notice I did mention that I did went to school in Trinidad and in Canada where I obtained three Diplomas and two Certificates in Computer Technology, that`s after doing 25 years as an Upholsterer I also did Upholstery in Trinidad as well S.S. Hussein I don`t know if they are still in business, it is fare to say I have payed my dues.
      Let`s get back to where it all started with the murders in my beloved Trinidad to my knowledge we have over 130 murders in the three months of 2018 in Canada if we have 30 murders we have a lot and we have 35 million people. Getting back to the shooting in the US I will give you a break down of the top 6 countries`s murders by volume. No: 1: Brazil 60,000 that`s more than all the people of Tobago, 2: Mexico 29,000, 3: Venezuela 26,000, 4: Russia around 21,000, 5: South Africa 19,000 and last but not least the Country in question USA 17,000 and most of these murders are involved blacks. My point here is none of these five countries make world news as their killings doesn`t involved the killing of innocent people. Trinidad is the happiest Country in the Caribbean so don`t be mad at me, be happy with me ok.

It was beautiful to see people from home - also, some of the streets and buildings from Port of Spain. I saw my old workplace, the streets I used to walk every day back then to go to and from work. I even thought I saw one of my former managers walking down Frederick street heading back in the direction of my old job. Haha. Most likely not. But my point is, I enjoyed it. Thank you for this video.....I appreciate the direction you took, knowing that there were many other avenues you could have ventured....Many times we forget it's okay to embrace goodness. This video could have highlighted our little island poorly, you could have chose to speak on and or show a lot of negativity but you didn't. This video highlighted the working class and by that I mean from street vendor go up, also neatly attired and very well deported school children. You gave the viewer a chance to vicariously walk in your footsteps to embrace an aspect of our culture that isn't appreciated enough, a peaceful productive environment like most places in the world... I approve of this message....I am a trini and I ❤️ my country. It isn't a bad place. At the end of the day it's up to us citizens to at least stay motivated to do better despite the pressures of life. Stay up🤗🤗🤗

      Tall buildings and highways don't show how developed and prosperous a country is. Jamaica has far reaching Global dominance in areas T&T does not have or most likely cant attain. Jamaicans are proud of their History, dominating culture and contribution to global music, sports, art, History and entertainment. For a small country, Jamaica has massive influence in culture, sports and many other fields, former US President Barack Obama mentioned this before he even visited Jamaica. When a Jamaican say that "Trinis" are Jealous of them, they mean our global popularity and achievements. You laugh because currently, T&T has a better economy, very high GDP and capital availability. Jamaica on the other hand, is a poor country based on its GDP and income. So you laugh at Jamaicans because T&T has tall buildings and is a wealthier nation. Mind you, Globally people think that Carnival and the steel pan is from Brazil. T&T culture of Carnival is a lot of the times mistaken or just classified as West Indian or Caribbean Carnival, because so many countries in the West Indies have similar cultures. What differentiates T&T from the rest of the Caribbean is its Hindu culture and History.

      @1TegoDon 6 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      KILLAVISION .....yes teinidad is way way more developed than Trinidad....but rhe more important thing to do is focus on the reason why this is and this would be the fact that Trinidad is blessed to be in a part of the planet that has black gold and jamaica does not .....but its also important to keep in mi d that jamaica was not blessed in this way and that as a nation jamaica has almost 3 million citezens to take care of and much less developed because of the fact that there is way less government revenue to be derived from the gift of a natural resource which give trinidad the advantage from a natural perpective .....butvit is also very important keep in mind and give credit to jamaica for being very notable in the world even without the financial Advantage and natural blessing of oil and gas......you have to make these observations ........and its also very important to note that jamaica has a way more citizens to take care if as i said before because of the fact that jamaica was the number one sugar producing colony for the british in empire in the 18th century ...which means that way more slaves were required to work the plantations to produce that cane sugar which was at that time considered the crystal golden (gold) of that era which is the reason for most of the wealth aquired by the british empire in those days and still the dominant first worl country that it is still today......pretty much what am saying is it all started with tbat golden gold produced in jamaica and other colonies on the backs of the acendants of the jamaican population of today.......important facts to consider

      I have something very important to tell you!
      ❤JESUS LOVES YOU! ❤
      ▪ We are all sinners, because all have sinned and lack the glory of God.
      ▪Everyone was lost, so God Great in Love gave His Son Jesus, to come into the world, die for humanity and forgive our sins.
      ▪Jesus lived among us, like us, but without sin, and one day they took Jesus, wounded him and placed him on the cross, and there He died. On the third day, the Lord Jesus rose, ascended to heaven and is alive, sitting at the right hand of God, and one day he will return to seek those who have accepted him in their hearts.
      ▪Now God says: receive, believe in Him, put your trust and faith in Him, I will forgive your sins, and I will guarantee you Eternal Life in heaven, all of this is yours and for free.
      All you need to do is receive !.

      ○ In the Holy Bible it is written in 1 John 1: 9,
      If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us of all our sins and to cleanse us from any injustice.
      ○ Jesus loves you, He wants to have a relationship with you, save you from eternal damnation and give you eternal life with Him in heaven, you can be saved! Believe Him and obey His word.

    Third richest country in the Western Hemisphere behind US and Canada. I hope ordinary people benefit from this oil wealth. They’re only 7 miles from Venezuela. Which is going through the worst economic collapse ever witnessed in a country not at war. Sadly, when the VZ government seized all the oil businesses some 15 or 20 years ago no one could have predicted the situation there now. A sovereign wealth fund should be created in this region for the locals. Like Norway does with their oil wealth. They have nearly a trillion dollars, maybe more. The interest from that kind of money would be a hundred billion a year. But nope, most people are struggling in VZ and doing just ok in Trinidad and Tobago.

      Looks like where there is money there is trouble. Chicago is a rich city but got lots of murders. Some people don't want to work. They engage in crime to make a living. There is no reason for all that crime in Trinidad. Look at Dubai and Kuwait they all got maids from the Philippines working for them due to the oil revenue. Trinidad should be doing just as good. Look at Venezuela swimming in oil but can't find a loaf of bread to eat or an aspirin for a headache. Poor management.

      God bless you! 💓

      I can play it over many times. I don't hear that clearly. I don't know the words, but I do know he wanted money. I avoid or ignore people that ask me for money. He was asking the Trinidad people for money. But he was asking me. This is a situation for a foreigner like me to avoid. Me stopping, and taking out my wallet, and pulling out money from my wallet in a foreign country is a bad idea. And, I would have a hard time holding the camera with one hand, and take out my wallet and money with the other hand. So, I had to do what I usually do, which is keep walking.

      Richard's world Traveller You're absolutely right, you should be cautious about pulling out your wallet anywhere but you said "That guy wasn't even speaking English". You knew what he said. Please be considerate and going foward edit unnecessary comments.

    • @RichardsWorld
      @RichardsWorld  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I honesty don't know what he said. I know what he wanted though. If I went to China and I don't speak Chinese, I would know someone is asking for money. You will know when anyone, in any language is asking you for money. After 75 countries, I know to keep on walking. So, maybe what I said in the video is wrong. But, I did not understand his words. I understood what he wanted though. The best way to deal with people asking you for something is to keep walking, don't stop, don't shake hands, just say no thanks if needed and keep walking. I was in the mode of keep walking.

      When I heard the "nah" it confused me. Because I used to practice speaking Thai. And It seems to have the same meaning as what he was saying. So I heard the "nah" and I was thinking that is a Thai word. And it had me wondering what was he speaking.
