After taking our doodle to various groomers with high prices (up to $130 with tip), inconsistent results, and doing the hard work ourselves to get the mats out beforehand, we finally decided to start doing the whole grooming ourselves. This video was immensely helpful, and we feel like our doodle looks WAY better than he ever did taking him to a professional, specifically his face and feet. Thanks for the help!
I can totally relate to this comment. I am rewatching this video today, before I attempt my doodle’s first at-home groom. $140 including tip & cc fees the last few times has left me so disappointed with the results and condition of my dog afterwards that I just bought the tools I didn’t have before to do it myself.
I watched this video at least 10 times over the last few days, and finally worked up the courage to groom my doodle today! It’s not perfect, but I know I’ll get better with practice 👏🏼 thank you for this super informative and detailed video! And idk why these people think you’re “too rough”. I also had to move my Oakley’s head and make him stand back up several times for SAFETY. Those blades are sharp as hell
I absolutely love you delivery of instructions. I have 2 doodles and it's becoming way to expensive to take to the groomer. I rather invest in the equipment and learn to do it myself. Thank you for this very informative video
I want to thank you for this video. My golden doodle is almost 12 and I thought that I might save her the trauma of going to a groomer but after watching this video I feel that it might take her longer for me to groom her. Also, I have a new appreciation for the amount of work groomers do. It was a really good video and Cedar is lovely.
I always blow the hair out of my dogs’ eyes, too - because one of them got hair in her eye at the groomer and scratched it with her dew claw and had to be treated and wear a cone for weeks. It was so scary to think of her losing her sight in that eye. ❤️ When I went in to pick her up, there were several dogs getting groomed within close proximity at the same time and fine hair was just flying in the air. We were on vaca. I normally groom them myself and it made me even more leery. Ty for a great video. He is a good boy and his face is perfect! 👏🏽

I'm loving your dog's attitude about the whole process. I have a Goldendoodle that is 16 weeks and have never had his first grooming. I think I can try to do it myself after a couple of times done professional.
Props to trying it yourself. I am a diva for my dog being well-groomed. My wife picks on me over it. I instead pay to know he will look great. And I use a dog sitter that watches and lets him outside while we work and walks him and recently got her to brush him for me in the morning, and ill do it at night. They are so much maintenance, but I love him like one of the kids. I just don't have the confidence I could make him look as good as I want him.
4 hours later, I've watched your video on repeat on headphones for the entire time. And I am so happy with the results with my cavapoo. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. I wish I could show you a picture of the before and after.

all doodles are definitely not calm. actually, most doodles seem to never run out of energy. they come from 2 breeds of working dogs so they need TONS of exercise. my doodle can happily play for 3+ hours. but they are definitely amazing dogs nonetheless.

Hun I want to say thank you soooo much from the bottom of my heart for putting this video on. I have a f1b golden doodle but she took more of a poodle and I was getting sick and tired paying 130.00 to pet smart . They always shaved her so short it was down to her skin. When I complained all they give is attitude golden doodles are naturally get knots and I comb and bath my little girl at least three times a week. And they seem to just come back again. ❤

@@ChocolateVanillaBean oh interesting, so it has more of a golden retriever coat then. I want a doodle, but we have allergies, so I am thinking a 75% poodle/25% retriever might be better for allergies.
@@erins3974 we got a doodle because of allergies too, and turns out there is no guarantee of how it will look unless you choose them much later than a few weeks old. He’s the only one of 12 that got the retriever coat and he looked like all the others as a puppy. He’s also more poodle than retriever so that didn’t even matter.

@@atldoodlegroomer3768 What products do you use/like for bathing? My older dood is massive and I find it so tricky. I’m also never sure what products work best on doodles. Sometimes it’s better to ask a fellow doodle owner rather than buying and trying every product yourself.

This is SO helpful!!! My husband I just moved from Ohio to NYC with a doodle and a portuguese water dog. The grooming prices in NYC are far above what we can afford, so we invested in grooming supplies and are learning ourselves. Let's just say the first attempt was not pretty! I have taken notes throughout this video so that the next try is better - fingers crossed. Thank you times a million for putting together such a wonderful instructive video.

Adorable! And so well behaved! As you suggested, fist time grooming my doodle pup I am doing front legs one day, back legs another and body last. Gives us practice and doesn’t last as long. However, I do the opposite, legs are short 3/8” due to stickers and grass seeds, body hair I leave longer. Great video, TY!!!

Oh my goodness, he’s absolutely adorable!!!! I have watched a ton of grooming videos and yours is by far the most helpful! I’m planning to start grooming my 12 month old GoldenDoodle at home. I live in the country and my choices of groomer is extremely limited. I feel like the groomer I’ve been using doesn’t especially like grooming doodles (she tends to reschedule a lot 🤷🏻♀️). fingers crossed it goes well, lol.

Well we were surprised with a flat coat doodle! Looks 100% retriever and does not need regular grooming, but he does shed.

This is SO helpful!!! My husband I just moved from Ohio to NYC with a doodle and a portuguese water dog. The grooming prices in NYC are far above what we can afford, so we invested in grooming supplies and are learning ourselves. Let's just say the first attempt was not pretty! I have taken notes throughout this video so that the next try is better - fingers crossed. Thank you times a million for putting together such a wonderful instructive video.

Great video! I have two Goldendoodles and am learning by trial and error. You explained everything really well and in an easy to follow format. I really have trouble with the paw pads- knowing how far to scoop. Your boy is handsome guy! Thanks for sharing!

Adorable! And so well behaved! As you suggested, fist time grooming my doodle pup I am doing front legs one day, back legs another and body last. Gives us practice and doesn’t last as long. However, I do the opposite, legs are short 3/8” due to stickers and grass seeds, body hair I leave longer. Great video, TY!!!

Oh my goodness, he’s absolutely adorable!!!! I have watched a ton of grooming videos and yours is by far the most helpful! I’m planning to start grooming my 12 month old GoldenDoodle at home. I live in the country and my choices of groomer is extremely limited. I feel like the groomer I’ve been using doesn’t especially like grooming doodles (she tends to reschedule a lot 🤷🏻♀️). fingers crossed it goes well, lol.

What a fantastic video! My doodle is two years old and I cringe every time I spend so much money on not so great grooms. I search for videos for a long time and never found one that gave me enough confidence to try it myself. Your doodle is beautiful and you do such a great job training him and grooming him!
