The Canadian Pirate, Bear L. Jay - known for his flannel bear-skull n' crossbones flag, love of carriage chases, and occasionally falling asleep during raids by his crew. 🏴‍☠😜

Barataria Bay and Sainte Marie's Island I hadn't heard of before, would love more on those. Wouldn't say no to some New Providence lore either though!

Ahoy Capt. Canadian Bear! You've stirred my interest in this subject and also love watching you play Sea of Thieves on Kick. I have a switch and recently purchased Assassins' Creed: Black Flag. I'm loving it! Keep these videos coming! Great job!

Lucky for my clan the MacNeils of Barra they had there own castle which back during when Ruari the Turbulent was the chief of the clan it was famous for parties. Also the chief and Laird of the isle of Barra owned other islands and land back then which there are beautiful beaches where the clans men and women and kid's would have enjoyed there day and maybe went for a swim as well as fishing and farming on the land's. Also back in those days some of the clans folk especially the chief and Laird of the clan like Ruari the Turbulent also travelled to mainland Scotland in there young years and went to university to get education. The outer Hebrides of Scotland were save havens for Scottish pirates like the MacNeils of Barra clan and famous MacNeil pirate Laird Ruari the Turbulent.

If you go to South port NC there is a maritime museum they talk about Stede Bonnet, then near Wilmington NC there is a ghost town from the 1700’s. Spanish raided the town. Then in Beaufort NC there is a maritime museum it has artifacts from Blackbeard ships. The exhibit is really good. There is another maritime museum butI have not been to it. If I have I do not remember it. It’s at the Outer Banks. At the History museum they have a little bit about pirates. They use to have a traveling exhibit about pirates.
I heard in the chat you wrote a book about pirates? Where can I check it out.

The book is not available at the moment. It’s was a young adult fiction story that had pirates in it.

    Great video, Jay.
Perhaps you might be interested in doing a video on this. Port Royal would become the basis for the theory of Atlantis. The story about Atlantis said the entire continent sunk on one day. (The theory of Atlantis was most likely started after Crete was destroyed by the Santorini volcano eruption. It was hit with tsunamis 60 feet high!) Port Royal sunk in a few minutes. That led many people to believe Atlantis is in the roughly the same location. This is also where the so called Bermuda Triangle is located. (I don't believe in the Bermuda Triangle. That area does have the weakest magnetic pull on the Earth. It's also where the north and south winds/water collide, causing powerful storms to rise quickly.)

Man, I'm finding out about SO MANY real life inspirations for One Piece in those videos. I heard bits and pieces from One Piece TH-camrs, namely Tekking101 and Joyboy_Theories, but now I get the full story! This is *AWESOME!* : D

Nova Scotia was swarming with pirates and privateers through the many years of the age of sail. Why we have the legends of Oak Island and the like. Many a pirate hid their treasure around the coast and near by small islands. The crazy numbers of privateers based from Halifax were responsible for heavy maritime losses by the US in the war of 1812.
