Nassau was COOL! And I got to see it in 5-star fashion! I was invited by a particular Shipmate and Gentleman who was a real Playboy Club Keyholder, and who made every effort to treat me to "how the Other Half Lives" (his words). Oh. My. God!
But the port I was most-often in, and therefore came to like best was St. Thomas, U.S.V.I. I would have liked to move there, but for Hurricanes having the nasty habit of stomping on that part of the world with monotonous regularity.

I’ve sailed many of these little secret ports. You have to understand that putting a huge vessel into one of these places with absolutely to motor power is amazing. Some of these sanctuaries were only accessible during a certain tide and if you missed the opening you most likely had to go all the way around again. Certain areas were only accessible at certain high tide then not accessible again until 24 hours later.

Sailing without an engine is a different level of fear. It’s not hard to believe that they were constantly running aground and ripping their bottoms out on reefs.

I love this channel, and the breathtaking artwork. I was a Sailor, and had occasion to be in the Caribbean for Work-Ups over several years. The artist is very talented, and well used to the beauty of the waters and beaches down there, as he captures it perfectly! I also find the portrayal of the sailors in these works to be poignant and thoroughly believable, as if one had taken a photo of friends in these locations (obviously detailing his subjects in the habiliments of a bygone era)!

I'm going to Nassau in the Bahamas in February. And it's very much my intention to visit that Pirate Museum.

@@ThePiratesPortOh right. Also I'd love to learn a bit more about the driving cause for the increase in worldwide piracy in the 17th and 18th century. Could be a cool video. Cheers man keep it going!
